This technical publication is aimed at specialist biologists and chemists in the field of platinum cancer chemotherapy. At a price of 225 dollars (US) and the technical knowledge needed to understand the book, it is not recommended for readers who are just interested in increasing their general knowlegde of cancer and chemotherapy.

Each chapter of the book covers a specific area of platinum chemotherapy and each chapter is written by the WORLD EXPERT in that field.

The first chapters deal with the discovery and use of cisplatin, the first platinum drug. The next chapters deal with its DNA binding and toxic side effects.

The remaining chapters deal with reviewing the research that has followed over the last 30 years and describes in detail new complexes that are undergoing clinical trails, their DNA binding and their cytotoxicity and toxicity.

This is an excellent book that is perfect for scientists who are entering or are currently conducting research into platinum complexes as chemotherapeutic agents. Definitely worth the money.

The only inconvenience I find is that the experiments
are written from the teacher point of view. But a lot
(or all) of them can be used in self-teaching or just
for fun; that should be remarked.

I write from Europe, where science manuals are been
replaced by Science divulgation, which librarians
classify between "religion" and "self-help". In this
ambience, books as this one give a refreshing air. We
need more of this.

it is good in chapter1 &2 but the chapter 3 (kinetic ) !!. it must contain the experimental appa. in a single chapter. there is no wonderfull things in software especially no userfreindly (visual).

If you work in the field of UXO remediation you'll already know that there are virtually no books out there that provide an integrated look at both the explosive hazard and chemical hazard of UXO and chemical weapons cleanup other than this one.

This book is a great introduction and should be mandatory reading for any restoration manager or regulator who deals with UXO and chemical contamination at DoD sites. I only wish it was available 3 years ago!

The book really helps people like me who have an almost impossibly steep learning curve when coming to a military cleanup site after exclusively working on industrial-contamination based environmental cleanup.

This is a very good fundamental book on the basics of medical problems and their impact on aviators. As a flight surgeon in the Air Force, this book is a must have in my arsenal of knowledge. If you are a flight surgeon or in the field of aerospace medicine at all, this is a good book to have for reference. This book does not go into detail about diseases themselves, but rather the impact that they may have on individuals who fly on a regular basis. For a much more detailed, comprehensive approach to things I'd recommend The Fundamentals of Aerospace Medicine by Dehart.

This is a great book for blood gases and hemodynamics, the wording isn't too technical. Very striaght forward.

We had to wait almost 10 years for this 3 edition but it was worth it! Several new chapters, very detailed techniques and plenty of reference values.

Once Kalyna et. al bring us a great quick reference book. This is the second edition of the Clinical handbook of psychotropic drugs for children and adolescents and it keeps the same up to date information on all the psychotropics used in this population.
This handbook is a "must have" book for every one that treats children and adolescent swho are on psychotropics. Nowadays there many of these drugs and their benefits are manytimes life-saving.
This is a great book!
