It's basically a how-to guide about finding what you want on the internet, using search engines and other internet tools.

Naturally, since it was published in 1995 it is now way out of date. At the time it was written, Google was not even a twinkle in the eye of two enterprising students, e-commerce was something that took pace in nightclubs, and the cutting edge of technology meant your modem transferred 3 kilobytes a second.

About 1/3 of the book is a super-basic explanation of how to use (then) new tools like Archie, Gopher, Veronica, and - if your computer could handle it - a new-fangled thing called a 'web browser'. The middle was a discussion of how to think like a journalist or researcher and track down documents on the internet with a combination of computer savvy and guesswork. The final third of the book consists of screenshots and brief reviews of various websites.

This is an essential book for any alumni relations professional looking to manage online alumni engagement from cradle to grave. It's chock-full of helpful tips and tactics. I found it extremely helpful.

i thought this book was great it helped alot...the reson i gave it a 9 is because its a 96' version and there where a couple of things that needed to be changed for 97' but other then that it was helpful....and easy to understand now i just wish i could get my hands on a 97' vision

Mr. Venditto guides you through the maze of resources available at AOL (stock quotes, financial news, mortgage and real estate services, bulletin boards, forums) as well as those available on the Internet (the Web, mailing lists, chat rooms, etc.). This is a great book! Although AOL as of this week, no longer offers the PP3 program sited in "Creating Cool Web Pages", this book has GREAT advice and info on using the World Wide Web -- especially GREAT TIPS in designing GREAT WEB PAGES, and excellent advice on how to attract visitors to your web site, and keep them coming back! (Look for other computer books by this author, too!!!)
