I truly appreciate a well-crafted story with a point, so I loved this book!

The characters are intriguing and well-drawn, as they reveal themselves through a series of on-line-style chats. Further, the careful plotting keeps the story moving along -- providing some shocking surprises along the way.

If you're like me, and often find yourself saying, "I wish I could read something that's beyond the run-of-the-mill, the formulaic," "Stranger in the Chat Room" just might be the perfect book for you.

It is not necessary to read the first book in this series, "In the Chat Room with God", but after reading this one, a reader will definitely want to catch the buzz created from the first effort. It is the summer and all the characters, Blake, Jenn, Krys, Lorri and A.C. keep track of one another via the computer. Lorri, Blake's younger sister, is going through a difficult phase. She is finding her "righteous" brother to be annoying and overbearing. Jenn, a new Christian, provides a listening ear for Lorri. During a chat room session, an intruder breaks into the two girls' conversation. The mysterious stranger continues to invade the group's chats, challenging them about their faith. The online experience quickly moves to being "threatening" as the stranger attempts to touch base offline.

While the storyline is geared towards teens, adults may find this book just as valuable. The "chat room" dialogue can be easily understood by the "Generation X" crowd. On the flip side, a parent can read this book and receive an inside look at the cyber world their teenager may spend a great time "inhabiting". The message from this book is very real on two levels. Physically, there are "dangerous" online strangers teenagers come in contact via chat rooms all the time. At the same time, spiritually we all are invaded by "strangers" who want to do us harm. Promoting online safety as well as safety in God's arms, this is short eye-opening read!

I wasn't sure what to expect from this book, but I found it to be creative and captivating. Everything that Tricia Brock from Superchick says in the foreword is true!

I found myself really caring about the characters, and the plot kept things moving briskly along. This story involves you more and more as you get into it, and, if you're like me, the ending will take you completely by surprise.

Even though this is a fiction book, the characters are believable and real.

"Stranger in the Chat Room" would be a particularly good choice for readers who aren't into traditional novels.

As a parent this book was eye opening. I wonder often who my kids are talking to online, even though we have warned them about talking to strangers. The book is plausible and really makes you think because obviously there are evil people out there. The plot moves along quickly and keeps your atttention. Some of the characters appear gullible at first especially Lori. The twisted logic of Watcher55 is well exposed and I really liked the ending, when Light and darkness meet. This is a good book for parents to read if they are uninformed of the down side of the Web. Even if they are informed, it is a good reminder to be vigilant of who their kids are meeting.

Never have I read a better book on the topic. J.C. covers it exactly how it was. Today is so different - spam mail and myspace and RSS feeds, etc...

This book gets my nostalgic every time I pick it up and read it. Yes, that first review was me, "PunkaPixie" almost 10 years ago. I just had to write another review (don't know if its allowed), but THIS BOOK DESERVES TO HAVE ANOTHER FIVE STAR REVIEW!!!!! Why oh why is it being shunned to the bargain bin!?!?! LONG LIVE THIS BOOK! And bless the heart of Ms. J.C. Herz who one day, long ago, back when I wrote this review, had written me an e-mail which is buried somewhere in a text file. Wherever she may be, I wish her well!

Long live the days of IRC and usenet... oh how I miss it so.

I am staring at my copy of this book right now actually. Still proudly displayed in my bookcase. This book has always and will always be close to my heart. At 25 years of age now, I will never forget the good old days when the internet was a wee baby - long before it was tainted with the things that "could be".

This is a great book for anyone curious to know what life was like before the "mass influx" of people on the 'Net. And an even better companion for those who long to remember.

This book should be supplied to all users of the web. It gives one of the best views of an addicts use to the medium. From the first tentative steps, all the way through to over load! The author MUST be praised for her writing, and content.

A DEFINATE MUST!

I read this book 2 years ago, when I borrowed it from the library. Since I have borrowed many, many times. It never gets boring. It provides a look on the net when the most commercial stuff was mlm scams and chainletters. *sigh* The good ol' days...

Oh my gosh, when i found this book in the "new book" section over 2 years ago at my library I thought it was cool fer the cover.

Then I read it.. oh my GOSH never ever have I ever read a book I agreed with SOOOO MUCH. The whole time I was reading about the little net adventures of J.C. Herz, I was smiling because I too have done it.. the usenet postings, the late night IRC excursions as well as the inevitable dip into MUD.

This book is great for anyone of the "olden" days of the online world. And for those vets.. feast yur eyes on the MindVox section.

Excellent and interesting, not stuffy at all. Easy to follow with practice lessons at the end of every chapter. Good essential information for the beginner investor, not just for online traders. This is a very detailed book which covers all aspects on online investing. Most people can skip chapter 1 which shows basic Internet browsing and navigation. The rest of the book shows web pages you can look at. I like this book because the authors highlight and explain the different parts of each of the web pages. At 400 pages, this book is short enough so that you won't get bored and long enough that the author just don't explain a concept in a sentence or a paragraph. The authors give enough detail so that you can understand and profit.

"Teach Yourself Investing Online", by Thomas S. Gray and Claire Mencke, is the ideal book for online investors, both novices and old-timers. The information is easy to understand, easy to read, and very interactive. There are sites to visit, quizzes and worksheets to fill out, and pages and pages of screenshots and sidebars and intriguing reading. This book can be used for quick reference or for straight-forward research. Very up-to-date and needed in this fast-paced Internet world, with online catalogs and stock trading sites, this book is your manual to succeed in this day in age. The book covers such subjects as stock quotes to saving for your child's college fund to shopping online. I was clueless and, frankly, frightened of the stock market and Internet investments before I peeked at these pages -- now I'm hooked, making extra money, and learning how to budget my finances. This book is for young and old investors alike, and it's easy to follow, with clear language and straight-forward visuals. It was obvious to me that these authors know what they're talking about. A must! If you think you could never make it in this busy online investing economy, you need this book! If you think you know all there is to know, you need this book! Finally, I read something I needed so much!

This book was very good back in the "buy and hold years" of 1998-2001. It's still a good read and very enjoyable.

These days, in my opinion, a trader needs more practical and up to date strategies especially if he wants to start day trading online on a regular basis.

Stock trading is all about making buy and sell decisions. When you make a trade either your going to lose money or your going to make money, and some other times you will break even. When you win some body else will lose and so forth, but that's NOT what's important.

The most important aspect of day trading is the "know-how" strategies you employ to make your buy & sell decisions. There are many "surefire" systems outhere, but you need to test them in order to discover which ones help you the most. That's part of your homework as an online stock trader. Test, test and test again.

Complicated systems that rely on a truck load of technical analysis indicators can make you slow, and being slow in this game can be as dangerous as not knowing what to do in the first place.

I think the worst thing that can happen to a beginner trader is to get information OVERLOAD. It's better to go step by step, and test a simple trading system that can show you how to focus on concrete ways to profit day in and day out.

Fortunatly there are some good sites on the web today that can show you how to trade in a practical and effective way. One of those sites is Smart Day Trading (SmartDayTrading com)

In the end, day trading is all about buying and selling according to your knowledge FILTER. Once you master and follow youre proven filter parameters like a clock, you can expect to start making serious amounts of cash on a consistent basis.

I bought this book for my 14 year old daughter...a girl who is really a good person inside, but struggling with pressure from the world to be someone I'd rather she not be. Although we talk frequently about God and his hopes for us, I could see her tuning out. This book reached her in a way I never could--the format is just what teens go for. My daughter isn't much of a reader, but she couldn't put this book down. I would highly recommend it!

Although there is a description of how to play blackjack in this book, the main emphasis is, as the title says, ONLINE blackjack. While the basic rules of the game haven't changed, the fact that you have to go on line, sign up, give out information such as credit card numbers make the game just a little bit different.

This book is on those differences. The author talks about the various on line casinos, how to protect yourself from illegitimate operations as well as viruses, trojan horses, worms, etc. She lists about 170 casinos that she at least implies she has visited and found them to be worth recommending.

It turns out that all the various casinos use software from a few software vendors. She lists these vendors and discusses some points about their software. Finally, these software packages, and consequently the casinos offer many different versions of the classical blackjack game. She goes into these differences and talks some about strategy to use with each.

Note that on line casinos shuffle after each hand, so card counting won't work very well.

This is among the best gambling books I've seen. I like to think of myself as a knowledgeable, seasoned blackjack player, but until now I've hesitated to play in an online casino. The privacy concerns, legal questions, and especially the fear of being ripped off -- It all made me nervous. But this book put those fears to rest. That's not to say that it glosses over the risks; it discusses them in detail so you know how to steer clear of them. Beyond showing you what to avoid, it tells you what to look for in an online casino, in a style that's both easy to read and intelligently written. I'd also recommend the book's sections on strategy to any new player, as well as to experienced gamblers looking to refresh their skills.

This book talked about how women take too much for granted when it come to relationships. Cheryl told us about some of her unforseen relationships. If more women and men would read her book they would understand relationships according to God. Also about how we have to let God direct our path in our relationships. We all should always let God direct our path. I have told many of the people in our Single Ministry about this book, and how inspiring it would be to their life.

All I can say is, WOW! This book has put everything into a totally new and refreshing perspective. Its freed me in ways you can only know by reading this book. It's a quick read and you will not be able to put it down once you've started. I heard Cheryl speaking on the radio on day and everything she was saying was clicking. And I knew I had to get this book, and I am SO glad I did. I tell everyone about this book, single or married. There is no way this book won't connect with you.
She brings a lot of the stuff she says back to scripture which I really liked. And it was so nice to know that I wasn't the only one doing those things. That God "wired" us that way.
I can't say enough good things about this book!

Ms. Martin gives practical and reasonable steps to women who aspire to be married. She reminds the reader of their value, and that there's no need to sell oneself short in the dating ritual. This book should become a rite of passage in Singles Sunday School classes.

Excited for this book. Compare with the tradicional book of Oncology, is easy to understand. I recommend as a part of training in Oncology Field. A "must-have" Book

The book is about the latest treatment in oncology. It's easy to obtain information out of this book. It has everything breast, lung, colorectal cancer, etc.

This textbook while being comprehensive enough,is enjoyable to read. As opposed to other major oncology textbooks, it provides definitive conclusions regarding treatment and is not overly burdening to the reader. Because Oncology changes so quickly, one could likely get by with this textbook and following the published literature.

What a whirlwind of a book !
Steen Marcussen delivers in Africa Go Go his views and experiences from Africa with a big heart and lots of humour. But also serious and crispy analysis about postwar Africa based on personal experiences. Afecionados of Africa must read this one, it is a very well written book. He serves us a world of its own, a world full of charm, mystery , sensuality and excitement. He is a writer with an exciting past, and future books will be warmly welcomed.

Great book... Well written, full of humor and insight. Africa Go-Go includes several lovely and memorable stories, for instance the wonderful `The arrival of Lollipop'. A story about the encounter and arrival of a very generous gift from a Nigerian Chief - His Daughter. A highly recommendable for book!

An interesting and well written book about the life in West Africa, as experienced by a young white man four decades ago.
The book is written with a lot of humour and warmth, in spite of the more or less dangerous situation.
For me reding it was more or less as the commercial for Pringles
"Once you pop, you can't stop". As soon as one short story had been red I simply had to read the next one as well.
Superb and highly recommended book.

This is by far, one of the funniest books I've ever read. Anybody that has ever done online dating will roll on the floor... Anybody looking for a good laugh or insight into online dating will love it. I couldn't put it down.

Lisa has nailed the atmosphere on the head. Nailing seems to be one of her traits as she has nailed so many of 'those' kind of internet chatters, daters and players. Each person considering using the internet, or any other means of meeting someone of the opposite sex should read this hilarious and always informative book about the internet. The many personas she has portrayed shows her imagination, resourcefulness and overall great personality to explore those who fall for 'the baiting game'. Keep hammering, Lisa, there are plenty of nails left.

Lisa describes the world of Internet dating in such a comical way that you keep reading just to see what she does next. This is a must-read for any single woman, no matter how she's meeting men - whether she's using an Internet dating service, browsing the bar scene, or whatever. I also highly recommend this to any married woman whose husband "travels on business." And lastly, you men out there should read this one, too. Not only will you learn something about yourself, you may even learn something about women. Lisa's research really dug into the psyche of the human male - and left me in tears from laughter.

A well-paced enjoyable read. The characters come to life in a believable setting, with plenty of wit and suspense. A real page-turner! Highly recommended.

The Bathsheba Connection by Ruth Walter is simply delightful to read. The pacing is just right as a retired American teacher is forced into the role of "detective" by the disappearance of a friend. Not only is the mystery juicy, but the details of life in Paris are right on mark, creating a wonderful contrast between down-to-earth Goldie Yampolsky with her wry sense of humor and a plethora of sophisticated chracters including Russian gangsters and call girls. A must read!

The mystery novel is evolving toward new forms and concerns as traditional themes and motivations are questioned in our sceptical age. The Bathsheba Connection, a first novel by Ruth Walter, may very well be seen as among those landmark works which break new ground, and set the pattern for future writers. It takes the amateur detective as a protagonist, a metaphor for everyman (in this case everywoman) facing the complexities of evil in a world with fewer and fewer ethical guidelines, and triggers a stunning series of thrilling and chilling encounters.
