Rules Books

I always enjoy reading Mel Colchamiro's column each month in the Bridge Bulletin, so I specifically asked for his new book for Christmas. I am thoroughly enjoying it, so much so, that I have ordered two copies to give to my friends.

If you are an intermediate or advanced player and you like to follow rules you will love Mel's Rule of 2, Mel's Rule of 8, of 9, of 17, of 22, and 23! Then of course there is the Frank Sinatra Rule, the Chorus Line Rule and the "BOP" double. In addition there are stories that accompany each of these rules to help you remember how to use them.

This is not a dry bridge book of rules. It is amusing and cleverly done. I guarantee that you will enjoy it!

Anyone interested in how academic philosophy addresses central issues of how one should live could not do better than this clearly written, powerfully argued, thoughtful book.

Dr. Kalen Hammann has done an outstanding job of taking various aspects of conflict resolution and negotiation principles and synthesizing them into useable and practical information and advice. His material allows any person to better understand how their life can be simplified by changing the rules to the frequent games that we play as members of society. His unique understanding of the human psyche is valuable to trainers and practitioners in the field of resolution and mediation. I highly recommend this book. Dr. L. Darryl Armstrong

fabulous poems of great importance, such as one about asparagus, and one about getting even with Milton the Bully. "Little Help", is about a belly button's call for help in its first poem it ever WROTE, since it has no vocal chords or THROAT. It HINTs at the accumulated LINT. In "Halloween Logic," a boy and girl decide to swap roles; it will work out DANDY for more CANDY. The author ponders if there is a FishCat, since there is a CatFish; or if clown college has homework, and if the goofs get A's and the wise get F's. Who are the honor students?

Perfect for any young baseball player. Even informative for the beginning coach! Easy-to-read text, colorful illustrations, what more could you want? Illustrations from the equipment to the field dimensions.

As a volunteer softball coach, I was impressed by this book and I found it to be a helpful and concise guide to the rules of softball for young players. Unlike other such books which are written for a high school or college level, this book is written for elementary school children (e.g., K to 2nd grade) who are beginning to learn the game. The softball rules are explained clearly and simply. This is helpful because softball rules can seem pretty hypertechnical to young children. Topics include equipment, positions, pitching, batting and strike zone, fair/foul territory, running, umpire signals, types of outs, vocabulary, etc. The illustrations also help explain proper stances and positions. Don't expect a tome, however -- the book is only 32 pages long. And this book won't provide much help for those who've played softball for more than several years. I think that this book is perfect for its purpose.

This is Book 2 of the Cluster Ship/Planet of the Golden Rule series-and it did not fail my expectations. In fact if anything it was better than book one! This book had even more page gripping features than the first book. It was harder to put down!!

I loved the science/medical application to reach new possibilities in space travel. The character relationships were nicely developed and expanded. Fascinating new worlds/alien species encountered.....when is the next book coming out! The hard part now is waiting for book 3!

This is an instant classic that will be used by law professors around the globe.

I have great interest in India. I have been there in two different occasions. "India under British Rule" shows how difficult must be the route for development of this amazing country. I look up for the book, first, to know specifics facts about the East India Company. I also want to know some of the Indian Fathers. Most of them are there. The book provides information and analysis of great qualities. It helps to understand the near future of this country.
