Haunting version of this classic

A very beautiful version of this classic. The lady speaker is wonderfully talented at describing scenes and images from the book and makes one's spine creep with her stylish performance of Sheridan's vampire. The entire recording which spans two full length tapes consisting of around 3 hours of audio recording left me spellbound and wishing that there was much more. The only failing in this otherwise excellant production was that there was no background music at certain points of the story which could have heightened the experience. Not that it spoiled the overall superb recording but that it would have added an extra diemension if handled carefully to the spooky effects.

Would recomend this recording to anyone who enjoys a shiver or two late at night and to anyone who appreciates a classic story performed in a highly professional but unique style.

"Carmilla," which predates Stoker's "Dracula," introduced the lesbian vampire to literature, and this reading of the entire text by Megan Follows breathes real life into LeFanu's somewhat antiquated Victorian style. Follows makes the narrator Laura into an intelligent and compelling guide through the tale; she also puts the proper ambivalence in the descriptions of Carmilla's advances, vampiric and otherwise. Indeed, what's most impressive is how clearly the lesbian subtext is presented, and how much emotion is involved. Altbough the plot is a little obvious after two centuries of rip-offs, LeFanu's innate storytelling skill and Follows' presentation make the anachronisms fairly painless, and the uniquely unsettling bits still have their chills.

Adolf Hitler and the editors of Time-Life Books deliver yet another masterful performance. This book is not a couple of inches thick as other Hitler books are but, you feel you miss out on nothing because what other books have in information, and verboseness this one more than makes up with sharp, concise, professional writing. This one really takes you deep withing the inner circle of concentric power of the infamous Third Reich emanating from will of the Fuhrer. No other title has succeeded in providing such an intimate view of the secluded everyday happenings in the lives of the supreme masters, that you actually have the feeling of being a first person witness. The insiders view is intense, as much of the action revolves around the magnetic personality of Adolf, it is not only a historically accurate document but an really intriguing personal biography. The photographs are of first rate, and is instrumental in the overall feel of splendor of this title. Reading it is guaranteed to be a tremendous affair

A Gem.

Center of the Web, (im assuming its from the Time Life Third Reich series) is an absolute must for any Hilter, and Third Reich student. This title is from the masterful Time Life Third Reich series, assuring a competent work, and delivering a masterpiece. This book in laced with breathtaking pictures and illustrations. The writing is superb, and the captions are marvels by themselves. The atention to detail in the production of the cover, the design, and layout of the book is outstanding. While other books are content to throw facts and information at you, this book is in a rare categorie of books that totally immerse you into the storie. The book takes you deep into the highest sector of Nazi Germany. into the daily life of Adolf Hitler. Pure reading enjoyment.

Charlotte's Web E.B. White, 1952, 184pp.
By E.B. White 0-06-440055-7

Charlotte's Web is about a pig that was born in spring and as a runt. He was smaller than all the other pigs and they would leave the little pig out of everything. Fern, the little girl, saved this pig when her father tried to kill it. Fern wouldn't let that happen, so she keep the pig as a pet. She named him Wilbur and he lived at Fern's uncle's house across the street. Then it was close to winter. When winter comes and spring pigs were born, then those pigs were killed and eaten for a winter feast. Would Fern let that happen to Wilbur? Read this book and find out.
I love Fern and Wilbur! Fern has a heart for Wilbur and Wilbur is cute and the most adorable pig ever.
I would recommend this book for all ages! It would be great for anyone! If you love animals then this book is for you!

This book is all about a pig who was rescued by a spider and a little girl. This little pig's name is Wilbur. He was a spring pig and raised by a girl named Fern who saved him just before he was killed, for he was a runt. With the help of his friends, including Charlotte the spider, he has many famous adventures. I would definitely recommend this book cause when I read it,I smiled all the way through - except the sad parts- but I would really suggest you read it!

I recently read this with my six-year old son, and we both greatly enjoyed it. We were familiar with the Paramount film of the same title, and enjoyed reviewing the differences. E.B. White's prose is marvelous and is a nice exploration of words with a young reader. I particularly enjoyed the "special read along edition" as it helped my son follow along and pick up the reading at different points because it was so easy to see, and the illustrations were as well. I highly recommend the book and the version. We also recently read Trumpet of the Swan by the same author and enjoyed it as well.

A tale of true friendship!

Review Date: 2008-09-12
Charlotte's Web is a true classic in every sense of the word. Written by a true master, E.B. White, this book tells the tale of a young pig named Wilbur who befriends a spider named Charlotte and their many adventures together. It's a story that children will love due to its timeless, but engaging subject matter.

There's a lot of fun to be had in this book. I constantly found myself smiling at the wonderful light-hearted humor throughout the book. The prose is as crisp as any book I've ever read and paints a very vivid image of a rural Mid-western American setting. Although not as epic as The Wizard of Oz, Charlotte's Web is a masterpiece of storytelling in its own right. The ending to this book is downright unforgettable and utterly moving.

I would recommend this book to any child, if not for its sheer entertainment value, then at least for its strong moral message. Truly, they don't write books like this anymore. It's a good thing we have Charlotte's Web to remind us of the good ol' days when entertainment for children was void of blood, sex, and mindless violence. Unfortunately, I can't say the same about the children's books being produced today.

This book depicts the importance of family & friendship

West's Time Machine
George's Pond: Created in the Beloved Tradition of Charlotte's Web

Being a children's author and teacher, I often enjoy reading Charlotte's Web as a child and now I enjoy reading the book to my son and my students. I think part of the reason this book has remained one of my favorites is because of the classic friendship between Wilbur and Charlotte. Both characters demonstrate an unselfish kind of love that is demonstrated from the time they meet. As a mother I want to teach my children the valuable life lesson of being a good friend and I think this story teaches that lesson in a non-didactic fashion. Charlotte's Web will forever be a classic in my heart.

The book is a product of a very logical mind , written with remarkable pedagogical talent.
(Or remarkable pedagogical training...).
A worthy reading for anybody who makes a living in IT .
A compulsory reading for anybody who's in Infrastructure Support (LAN/WAN) because it gives you a very clear overview on what "the others" are doing or dealing with...
I wish this book was available years ago; would have made me a better professional.
I wouldn't be surprised if it'll be embraced as Academic Material by some Universities.

Another great effort from Cisco Press.

Cisco is a leader in the internet infrastructure, Cisco is also a proven leader in knowing how to integrate the WWW with business and provide a solution for their customers. Now they produce the study guide for the CISS exam and become a proven leader their as well.

In over 750 pages the author starts the certification journey with business application models, followed quickly with discussions for design and application requirements, after that you move to learning about Internet business solutions including 4 scenarios.

There are also several other scenarios in the book as well as 5 CISS case studies ranging from e-business to security. There is also 2 practice exams included, 1 for the CISS Applications and 1 for the CISS Solutions exams.

Overall I found the book a very good read and very well documented, the author has certainly given you a first class effort with this one.

Highly recommended! The large formate - one puzzle per page makes it visually possible if you have visual organizational problems, and otherwise very pleasant. The authors provide a great support for the learning process in the book and the free link to their web site. They are excellent teachers making it a lot of fun to learn in their 'classroom'. It seems they WANT you to have fun and enjoy logic as much as they do. Refreshing indeed to have FUN and LEARNING at the bottom line.

I have been playing online at Web Sudoku for nearly a year now and their Sudoku puzzles are consistently excellent. Now they've brought out a book which maintains the same high standard and in my opinion beats all the other books on the market. There are 200 puzzles in the book - 50 in each of their 4 levels, mostly 9x9 but with some 12x12 and 16x16 as well. I also find that this paperback sudoku book is the perfect size to carry around in a bag but still has plenty of space around the puzzle.

One of the best "how to" Client-Server testing books ever...
Helpful Votes: 2 out of 2 total.
Review Date: 2002-08-29
I have been doing SQA and related engineering for almost twenty years and have not seen many books that actually get into the "nuts and bolts" of software testing as well as this one does. Mosley takes great pains to insure that whether you are a newcomer to SQA or a seasoned pro, something is here for you. I recently moved from a strictly software testing environment to a Client-Server environment and used this book extensively to "get up to speed" with the new internet testing concepts presented in this publication. Very practical examples, clear explanations and a thorough knowledge of the topic. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is new to the field and any one needs ideas on how to put a test environment together that really produces immediate results. I have worked on many software engineering projects over the past twenty years and wished many times for a book like this, now its here.

If you buy only one software test book, buy this one...

Of all the sofware testing books I've read, Mosley's stands out as the easiest to read, and contains real-world tangible examples that can be put to use immediatley. His Test Plan outlines are excellent and are built from IEEE standards. Lots of useful information and minimum test philosophy. Like many client-server books, the focus is primarily e-commerce, but the test approaches can be applied to any multi-user GUI application.
