This book is full of fun anecdotal object lessons. Shawna takes you through her life as a farmer's daughter to dancer with an international troupe then into her acting career. As you follow her life you also discover with her valuable observations which just may just motivate you to look at your own life in a more attentive manner.

This fast reading book will entertain and inspire you. After you've finised the last page you'll feel that you've come away with practical applications for your life and you'll never be quite the same.

This is a great little booklet. It provides brief summaries of scientific studies supporting positive effects of church attendance. The explanations of each reason are quite brief: 1-3 paragraphs. Some of the studies were published in religious journals (Journal for Scientific Study of Religion), but many were published in mainstream academic journals (American Journal of Epidemiology, Journal of Psychology, and so on).

The reasons are a little repetative here and there. For example, Longer life, Better Personal Healh, Boosted Immune system, and Greater Resistance to Cancer are all listed as separate reasons. So maybe it's really closer to 30 good reasons. But it's still quite compelling.

It doesn't promote a specific religion. It only focuses on regular attendance, not on the type of church. I think it would be very reaffirming for people already attending regular services, and it would be motivating for people considering whether or not to join/attend a church.

This is the eleventh book in the Abbey series, and while the events and characters are introduced and explained, I wouldn't recommend this as a stand-alone title or as your first Abbey Girls book.

Cecily, the president of the Hamlet Club, arranges for Joan, Jen, Joy, and Jack to accompany her to an intensive folk-dancing school for a month. There they meet characters who you may remember from other books, like Tazy Kingston and Karen Wilson from the Swiss series, and Tormentil Grant from the Torment series.

They each work hard and play hard together, enjoying learning about the dances and getting to know each other and their teachers better. They each struggle against their personalities and grow into wiser and more mature young women through the experience, and you can see some of what each of them will be as adult women.

There is a lot of time and writing spent describing specific elements of the folk dances and the details of many of the lessons, so if you are new to the series and haven't yet read enough about the dancing and music to have a bit of a grasp on it, you might find those parts hard going. I found it was almost a dance school for me to read this book! I certainly understood a lot of the dances mentioned in other Abbey books a lot better after reading this one.

This GGBP edition has an informative introduction with a list of the Abbey books and their reading order, publishing history for this book, etc. It is a trade paperback with thick, bright white pages and a solid binding.

This is another of Linda's wonderful cookbooks. She hits the mark with saving time, something that all of us need to do in our hectic world, yet still creating delicious recipes.

I have followed Linda's website, [...], for years. It's great to have a lot of her recipes in a printed form (please, About, publish another one!!).

Some highlights of this book in a nutshell: Every margin has incredibly useful tips and information that are related to the adjacent recipe. She includes some pertinent questions (perhaps from her web readers?) and answers as well. My favorite recipes include the Gourmet Grilled Cheese, Norwegian Toast (like biscotti - heaven with coffee in the morning!), Carmelized Onion Dip (started in the slow cooker), Freezer Waffles (the kids love 'em--I even sneak in a little wheat germ), and the Grilled Seafood pizza which is a hit with my Bunco friends. All of them are very quick and Linda knows just where to cut corners on time, never sacrificing flavor. I can't wait to try more of these recipes. Meanwhile, I will stayed tuned to her website!!

Ms. Peterson is a speech-language pathologist who specializes in providing her clients with therapeutic strategies that are easy to integrate into everyday life. I had the good fortune of attending one of her seminars and learning about the comprehensive programs she has developed for improving speech and voice conditions. Her new program for accent reduction will no doubt offer the solutions that anyone interested is looking for.

This is the best book I can even imagine if you're looking for guidance for re-positioning, expanding or diversifying your small business. After working with one high-priced but useless consultant then a free one at the SBA's Small Business Development Center (neither of which had a clue about what I needed to know), this book showed me exactly what I needed to consider, provided useful, not hokey, exercises to narrow my options, then walked me through planning and implementing the strategy, step by step. It covers pros and cons of four options:
1. Sticking with what you're already doing and your current customer base
2. Developing new products or services for your existing customers or clents
3. Finding new customers for your existing products or services
4. Developing new products or services for new customers or clients

It's clearly and concisely written, too. In sum: Excellent and invaluable.

Jason Gray's chapbook offers us a poet well on his way to a fine full-length collection. He evokes Chaucer through a "Parliament of Crows" who "feed off your vertigo and are kind"; he envisions an "Origami Zoo" of "folded animals and watercolor map" whose denizens, "tightly folded and in place," could be left for an ex-lover; and, in the title poem, Adam and Eve reverse direction to stand before the front gates of a zoo: "Adam is drawn to bears: the bloated mass/Of brown fur, heavy pawed," while Eve presses against the glass to watch "the gorilla, bigger than she,/Whom she imagines she could fit inside." Gray's poems, witty and tender, are worthy of multiple readings and show evidence of impressive craft and emotional range. He is a young poet to watch closely, and his poems are a pleasure to read.

My daughter loves this book. She loves fishing and has her own dog and we live in a country setting so she really enjoys the pictures and loves reading about John and Tippy fighting with the giant eel. It's truly a wholesome book. I have been telling everyone about this book.
