After reading this book,I now understand why my acting "career" never took off. The authors have explained things in such a way as to make me feel absolutely stupid for not having seen things more clearly when I was taking my shot at the silver screen. Sadly, my time for that has passed me by, but my daughter is reading the book so I doubt she'll make the mistakes I did. As to the technique, it is nothing short of revolutionary and should send shock waves through the fraternity of acting coaches. The added benefit to my wife and I is that my daughter needn't be leaving home just to get things going in Hollywood.

I LOVED it! This is a great read, even if you have no desire to be "in Hollywood."
You will see movies in a whole new light after reading this.
The Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) and their witty responses are, by themselves, worth the price of the book.
I came away understanding how the "star system" works, why we support it, who REALLY hires the people we see on screen and WHY they are hired.
I was particularly excited by the "action/reaction technique" the authors describe. FINALLY someone explains what we're seeing on the screen in the great performances... and what is missing in the ordinary and lousy ones.
I started paying attention to people on the screen that I'd sort of ignored before. I now have greater insights to the performances I see. I recommend it HIGHLY!

Brilliant thinking!

This book outlines a rather novel approach to the quest for a career in Hollywood. My opinion is that it can be successfully applied with very little modification here in the UK.
Additionally, the acting technique described in this book is brilliant and I've found an immediate improvement in my own acting talents as a result of having studied it. This is not an admission I make lightly!
I highly recommend it to those seeking a career in front of the camera.

This book is a must have for any fan of great theater, intelligent novels, deep poetry, critical essays, or moving short stories: because it has all of them by the master of all of these genres.

From famous works such as, "Waiting for Godot," and "Krapp's Last Tape" (plays), that force a reader to rethink their world, to classic short stories, such as, "Dante and the Lobster," that is a dive into a surreal world: this book has everything.

1,000 words is not nearly enough to get into this book at any real depth, or to even give it a proper over view. This book covers the entire spectrum of one of Ireland's greatest writers.

Creater of the theater of the absurd, world renouned playwright, and man who single handedly made a place for the "shorter play," in a world that had come to expect a minimum of two acts, for a peice of drama to be considered serious.

This book contains novels, novel excerpts and short stories, all of which, redefined the genres that they belonged to. Prolific, constantly changing, and reaching new hights, Beckett redefined every genre that he wrote in, and set new levels of perfection for the rest of us to reach for.

One can not say enough things about this true literary genius. The best advice that I can give you is, buy this book, read it, and give yourself the perfect oppertunity to become aquainted with Beckett. This book gives a wondeful over view of each of Beckett's writing stages and the evolution of his work.

This is a very wise introduction to Samuel Beckett's work. If you haven't discovered one of the most profound voices of the 20th century, then this book is the way to do it. By far his most accessible work is the short play Krapp's Last Tape and it is in this volume complete. Waiting for Godot is also here as well as excerpts from Beckett's prose and some of his later plays like Not I. This book belongs on your shelf.

With personal incidents from his own family life and humor he shows us how we can have a better relationship with ourselves and those around us. I recently had the pleasure of picking up Mr. Riley"s guide for clearing the clutter out of your life without having a cerebral hemorrhage in the process!! I approached the book with my usual skepticism, but was delighted to find not only a practical tome but one written with compassion and a delightful sense of humor. Mr. Riley wove a self help book cleverly into a nostalgic rememberance of times shared with his father growing up. As I read this book, I saw myself all too often sitting beside his father getting angry at the driver in the left lane hand lane doing well below the speed limit. Next time, I will try to let go of the anger and remember to LET GO!! GOOD BOOK!! Hopefully Mr. Riley will consider a novel next....

This is a book I bought as a requirement for a nursing class; it's about relationships and communication skills between nurses and clients. Although some of the information seems like it would be common sense, there are interesting points and ideas that are discussed. It addresses the sometimes complex idea of a professional yet caring relationship between a nurse and client.

I liked this text book. It is clearly written and comprehensive--so difficult to find in a communication textbook. The communication exercises are thought provoking and I like the text boxes. The case studies seem real and capture some of the nursing communication dilemmas I have encountered as a student. This text is a keeper!

Case examples and tables are used. Chapters are well illustrated. Color is used. A summary and references are at the end of each chapter. A glossary and index are at the end of the book. This is a scholarly, theoretical and well-documented book for teaching professional communication skills to nurses. .

Without a doubt the best book on go in the English language for any player above rank beginner. A compendium of masterpieces by a player whom many feel was the greatest of all time. Shusaku's games contain literally thousands of lessons on every phase and aspect of the game, with each lesson fixed in perfect context - a real game. His characteristic clarity makes playing good go seem much like other Truths, simple, pure and quite easy once illusion falls away. One needs to study no other go book to become strong, and certainly studying no other go book would be as much fun.

As soon as one reaches the low kyu ranks, it becomes extremely useful to study professional games (and it doesn't hurt to do so earlier). This book presents the games of Shusaku, one of the best players ever, who lived in the mid-19th century. Eighty games are given with detailed commentary (I like the commentaries by Miyamoto Naoki the best). In addition, there is a good discussion of the historical context, rivalries, and drama surrounding the games.

The openings in these games are dated (although it is nonetheless interesting to see Shusaku making innovations in opening theory), but the middle and end games are not. Current professional Kobayashi Koichi 9-dan has said that one of the keys to his success is that he studied Shusaku's games 10 times.

The book is beautifully designed and laid out. Every go player should treasure it.

It is great history book, great games of the great master.

I am playing Go a little over a year now, and I must admit that Shusaku is way beyond my level of thinking. However, going over his games (and not spending so much time on the alternatives in the commentaries) has helped me tremendously. Even though I am not in the above 10 kyu rank, I am very thankful for Shusaku helping me to jump from the lowest rank to 15kyu - and because of my profession, I do not play that often. I have studied his games repeatedly and will continue to do so, because there is always something new that I didn't get the last time reviewed the games. I feel gratified that if I am still just a novice and have profited from his games and broadened my thinking - I look forward to the greener fields I will receive from this book as I grow more in the knowledge of the game. This book is just plain THE book.

I am a Foreign Language Teacher. For my Italian classes I have been using Italian All The Way for the past 4 years. The material is perfectly structured. My students are adult, highly educated people, and they all liked and like this textbook. For them the Chiave per gli esercizi is very valuable too. I enjoy teaching Italian with this book so much that I do not feel any more that I have to write my own textbook! Bravi! Dott.sa MMG

I've tried a number of Italian self-study courses over the last few years. This course is the best one I've ever seen. The material is very well structured. The dialogues are useful and the conversation patterns are in accordance with the actual everyday language norms. I've used many of the conversation patterns suggested in the course in Italy and it worked! The grammar section is excellent. It is not overloaded with the special lingistic terminology and, again, it is very well structured and kept reasonably short. One will find the audiomaterial also very helpful. I, personally, found the "on the go" cassette set to be extremely efficient. The material is carefully presented in the form suitable for listening while you drive without turning your attention from the road altogether. In short, the course is excellent and highly recommended.

I have two years of college-level Italian and I
spent a fair amount of time and energy on learning
the language. Since then, I've made the trip to Italy
at least once a year, staying for a month last spring.

Because I live most of the time in the U.S., my Italian
gets rusty-maybe 'rovinato' is more like it. So I
have assembled a tune-up kit. It consists of a newspaper
called Italia Oggi, published in Italian in the U.S. and
a set of CD's. When I get on the plane, I take with me
a Garzanti Dictionary and the Guidebook to Italian All the
Way.

It's an efficient reminder of what you used to know and if
you are a grown-up learning you third or fourth language,
it would be an excellent introduction.

No accordian music of the sort they only trot out for tourists, and no insipid "Now it's YOUR turn" cues that wear thin the fiftieth time. The grammar alone beats any specialized "grammar in a nutshell" book. Available on CD; insist on CD's if this is your preference

I don't think we as human beings actually recognize the power of daily reading, meditation, and reflecting. Practicing these powerful principles allows us to remain mindful of the moment and reflect upon the deeper question in our lives. To devote ourself to a daily meditation and to journal on these quiet times is priceless and will certainly aid in the evolution of our soul. For me this practice has allowed an awakening to take place and opens my life up to all the opportunities that are available in this universe. Please give this practice a try! This book will help you in your journey of living and cultivating an active consciousness in your daily life.

I just started using this book as a recomendation made by one of my college teachers last semester. By reading the daily pages, and journaling a little bit about each topic for each day I have been able to make some very profound discoveries about myself. It is helping me to not only better understand myself, and my situation, but it is allowing me to become more tolerant of others, and is helping me to understand that I am allowed to feel some of the emotions in which we are conditioned to discount. I would recomend this book to not only people that feel they have issues they need to work out, but to anyone that is interested in learning a little more about themselves.

I found this book to be very motivating and it really stirred a desire in me to further my faith..hard core faith...in Christ. Although at times it was confusing to tell what practices Mr. Cliffe was talking about doing, and it is hard for me to picture the type of praying and strong belief he talks about needing, I think after reading and thinking some more I found out the answers. It wont be easy but I am going to try what he suggests. I think this is a very informative book for anyone, even if you dont feel as faithful as a minister, priest, or deacon...we all need healing, happiness, and we certainly all need to learn to love and think good things...and Mr. Cliffe talks about this thouroughly, with example of how full faith has helped heal people. Give it a try.

This book epitomizes the way to realize personal healing and fulfillment, even though it was written almost a half century ago! The principles still apply today and they are exquisitely and inspirationally set forth by the author.

We are given the desire to pray and restore our faith in God, which we may have forgotten how to do. The results have important implications in both the physical and spiritual world. The author tells us that each day is new and we have the ability to change and be renewed. We are able to be absolutely forgiven by Christ - a very reassuring and comforting thought.

Kudos. This book establishes and emphasizes the important things in "life" on Earth (and here-after).

We'd all be better people, if we all read this book.

You don't need to be a holy-roller to appreciate the concept of the author's points in Let go, Let God. Because we weren't born with instructions, sometimes it's hard to make the right choices and go the right direction--regardless of our choice of (or) faith. But, this book boldy speaks to all races, religions, and faiths. If we all took the time everyday to truly invest in self-improvement, instead of investing time in finding fault in others we would all grow greater spiritually, physically, financially, and of course most importantly, Godly. Let Go, Let God has something for everyone and I am sure it should be in all home libraries. It helped me see where I've grown and where I need to change.

The editorial staff of this fine work made my vacation in Israel a success. For the first two days I used Let's Go Middle East as my guide book. I figured I might want to venture beyond Israel so why limit myself by an Israel only travel guide. That was a mistake; those first two days were mediocre. Fortunately I found a copy of Let's Go Israel while in Israel. This book saved my vacation. Not only was it an enjoyable read (particularly the history) Let's Go Israel offered countless great ideas for things to do. After investigating why Let's Go Israel was so helpful, I learned that the book was a success due to the outstanding efforts of Editor Laura Weinrib.

seriously, this is the best and most comprehensive guide to israel out there. a lot of people travel in the country, and so there are a lot of guide books available to the country, but all you need is this one. it was very thorough (the jerusalem section was amazing!), and it listed the cheapest places to eat and sleep and it had great places to visit--i mean really awesome and fascinating places that they described in great detail and gave the background of. i also liked the fact that they included day trips to petra (this awesome sight in jordan) and the sinai peninsula of egypt (i did some great scuba diving there, and for cheap, too, because they had these really budget but incredibly safe (safer than even the upscale scuba places, so i heard from a friend of mine) sites). the only thing i wish could be changed in the book is that it was a little bit funnier. i traveled to israel after visiting the rest of the middle east and i used let's go middle east, and that book was as accurate and helpful and wonderful as israel, but it was really so funny! SO funny! It had an israel section, too, which would have served me as well as the let's go israel book. i just bought the israel book because people on the road kept saying "oh i see you have the new middle east book from let's go, we have the other new let's go book, for israel," and it was awesome. i recommend this book to anyone and everyone as the best guide to the country--you will thank yourself 8000 million times over if you buy this book (and only this book--all that stuff about people needing like multiple guide books is a lie--you need this book and this book alone for travel in israel; if you want to go travel in the area, pick up a middle east guide, too, you'll be thanking yourself for that too, and laughing really hard because it is REALLY funny!). that's right, go out and buy both books right now!
