I have to say WOW to Marilyn Lee's "BloodLust" and WOW WOW to Jaid Black's "Naughty Nancy". To Treva Harte's "A Little Too Charming" I have to say Huh? The first two stories were amazing. Jaid Black is more talented than most romantic writers I've read, including Johanna Lindsey and Virginia Henley. Of course the sex and passion are there, but so is the story! Marilyn Lee's story was fantastic. I think she'll make the ladies want tall, dark and handsome more than ever before! I just didn't feel the continuity in Treva Harte's story. I honestly thought the guy was too soft, then BAM! he wasn't. It just didn't transition as well as the other two stories.Despite my complaints, I still thoroughly enjoyed all three stories. I highly recommend this anthology!

Wow! This is the first book from the publisher Ellora's Cave that I have read, but it will NOT be the last. This was a fantastic anthology that has me ready to read many more stories from all three of these talented authors.

The three stories are tied together by the idea that it is three friends meeting at a halloween party, all of them hoping to (or at least thinking about the possibility) of getting laid. All three of them find their heart's desire.

The first story was Bloodlust by Marilyn Lee and was my favorite out of the bunch. It features a very sexy vampire (my favorite alpha male!) and made me wish that I could have (or be had by!) a vampire of my very own.

The second story was A Little Too Charming by Treva Harte. The hero is a witch who has discovered that to save his family from a curse brought down from the Salem Witch Trials, he must love the descendant of one of the women executed during the trials. This story would have been better if it had been longer. I wanted to know more about the curse and the history of the two families, but the story was still very good.

The third story was by a fave in the world of romantica, Jaid Black. This story was called Naughty Nancy and is in Ms. Black's very popular Trek Mi Q'an series. Although I have never read one of the Trek Mi Q'an Books, I have now purchased the first in the series and am loving it. Jaid Black is a very talented author who even had me interested in what it would be like to love a "gargoylesque" shape-shifter. Very erotic!

I really recommend this book to all readers who like their romance very erotic and spicy. Not for the tame of heart, but definitely a fantastic erotic read!

All three stories in this Halloween anthology are fun!

My favorite is Naughty Nancy by Jaid Black. Although it's part of her Trek Mi Q'an series, it stands alone very well. Jaid Black has a way of making the bazarre very [physical]. I love her takes on the "beast" theme - be they gargoyles, ape-men, or humanoid.

This is a keeper!

I have read romance for a long time and really enjoy it. It is stories like these that have inspired me to try writing myself. I have read most of what Jaid Black and Marilyn Lee have written. I really like their work. This is the first Treva Harte's work that I have read and it will not be the last. These stories while very hot all show the beginnings of what turn out to be wonderful relationships.

Bloodlust is the first in series of stories about a family of vampires. Mikhel and Erica are perfect together. Once Erica gets past the terror of a full blood female trying to kill her and Mikhel.

The Jaid Black story is set in the future history of the Trek Mi Q'an series. This is also a very good story. Jaid Black can write lush story populated with characters you can identify with. Her Trek Mi Q'an sereis will have you laughing and crying and cheering the Heroines on the conquer their seven foot plus husbands.

Treva Harte story is about the need to remove a curse and find redemption. Along the way the two lovers learn the meaning of love and understanding.

I would recommend anything written by Jaid Black and Marilyn Lee

This anthology is one of the best I've read in a long time. Three friends meet at a Halloween party and then meet three very different and sexy men who rock their world. This books offers something for everyone from a hunky vampire to a modern witch to an out of this world hero.

The writing is hot and the love scenes are hot. I can't wait to read more about the vampire in the next book.

I am so thankful that I found this book. I had fallen into a terrible pattern of screaming uncontrollably at my kids and then later having to apologize. My kids were afraid of me and how I would react. This book made sense to me from page one. Every page has been an "Ah-ha" moment of how I have conditioned my heart and mind to respond with anger. It has been so worth the money. I am now using the teachniques and ideas from the book to recondition my heart and mind to respond more calmly. My kids and husband have noticed a difference. And I definitely have. I feel so much better physically and mentally (less outburts mean less guilt and shame for how my anger was affecting my kids). I highly recommend this book for anyone who is looking for real and doable ways to reduce your anger. Good luck!

I am using the EmWave along with reading this book. It's been most helpful in reducing stress. The EmWave is a pocket size heart monitor that takes your pulse and equates it with how your heart reacts to positive and negative thinking. This book hits home as it uses real life thinking patterns that if continually used will eventually map a person's everyday thinking. So, if you're a negative thinker, your heart and mind eventually get mapped into thinking negatively. And who wants to be around negative people. This book helps a person "re-map" their heart and mind into a more positive attitude. With all the stress the news reports everyday, this book along with the EmWave will help to reduce the stress, be happy and of course, have better relationships.

Now over a year latter they both still love these books. We have a lot of books but this book and the cat one are chosen for night time books about once a week. The writting is so fun and poetic.

We got this book out of the library and it's such a big hit I had to buy one not only for my kids but also for my sister's two boys. My 2 and 4 year old son and daughter LOVE this book. I can hardly read it because on each page they take so long looking at the pictures and laughing at the truck drivers. Their favorites are the snowman driving the ice cream truck and the ghost driving the pumpkin truck. Whenever I can actually get through a page of text without being interrupted by many comments on the pictures, they enjoy the rhyming text. I highly recommend this book.

I remember the basement horrors of my own shredded childhood, and I remember believing that fairies could take me up, up, above Gardner Lake on a silver cloud to a place of peace, where no abuse could reach me. Little did I know that Susan Bassett floated there, too. Her book brings back not only the sadness of abuse, but also memories of the time in my life when my belief in fairies kept me whole. I shared this book with my own children. They intuitively understood both the harm done to little Suzy, and the healing work that freed her. As a mother and a survivor, I am glad to have found the magic and truth in this book. -- Kiesa Ka

The illustrations in this fabulous little book are a delight, with rich colors, expressive animals, and marvelous details. The dancing bears float across the sky like a Chagall painting, play instruments, and drive a nifty little orange car; There are also many other lovable creatures, and sometimes you have to look carefully to find all the rabbits and squirrels hidden in the foliage.
The human element is a sweet brown haired girl in a blue dress and floppy flowered hat, and who is afraid of the storm. Her mother introduces her to the bears, and she starts to see the storm as a friendly, magical event.
The highlight for me is the big cat trio with the lion playing the violin, and the verse for this is:
"Then the lions and leopards and lynx play the strings.
Hear them howling and yowling the way the wind sings".
All the verses are simple but well written, and have an imaginative charm that goes well with the pictures.

As an artist/illustrator, I take my hat off to the award winning Phoebe Stone, for her unique and exquisite work in this book. Stone also has made a name for herself as a fine artist, and "When the Wind Bears Go Dancing" was the first children's book she both wrote and illustrated. Art pieces from this book have been exhibited at the Boston area DeCordova Museum, and at The Society of Illustrators in New York City, and my favorite "lion and violin" illustration graced the cover of Booklist Magazine.
If you have a child who is afraid of nature's wilder moments, this book will help to calm their negative feelings, and bring a sense of adventure to scary elements like lightning, wind and rain.
The paper is of nice quality, with a semi gloss sheen, and the color reproduction is superb.

This book is great. The author is the doctor on the Biggest Loser.

He is a former athlete himself and worked as the doctor to sports teams. He observed the athletes having problems keeping weight on, no matter what they ate, due to the amount of exercise.

He is the originator of the Biggest Loser plan you see on TV. He was asked to formulate a plan for weight loss. At the time, it was not thought possible to lose as much weight as they do on the show.

His theory is to exercise 1 hour 2 times per day and eat about 1,800 calories. Do not restrict carbs too much or you will lose valuable muscle tissue.

This book is the science of FAT loss. Long term fat loss success.

I love the science of it. We don't need another diet book. Diets do not work.

Read this book to know about the science, not the fad, of fat loss.

I recommend this book to everyone who needs to lose weight. If you wanted to know the secrets of the Biggest Loser show, here they are.

While I am not obese and in fact just got back into the normal weight category, I was intrigued to read the Biggest Loser story. The book is well written and useful for anyone who wants to improve their weight and overall health.

I was a bit surprised that Dr. H's maintenance program includes 9 hours of weekly exercise. I do 5 and thought I was doing enough. But overall, for the obese person to be able to see such dramatic results - exercising at home - is truly inspiring. If you need to take off a lot of weight - read this book and follow his advise. And if you can possibly do so, take a trainer as well.

It has been awhile since I read this book so I have to rely on my memory somewhat of the book's contents. Yes, it is a very interesting book and as a Motown fan, I certainly enjoyed it. Sometimes, though, I wonder about some of Mr. George's comments (and if you are reading this Mr. George I mean no disrespect).

Did he really have to describe the talented Kim Weston as a "dark skined woman with a tendency to put on weight?" Was she really laughed at when she got on stage? To me, Kim Weston was one of Motowns most talented female singers. Couldn't the author have spent a little more space on her vocal talents?

He dismisses the Supremes post-Diana Ross career in a few sentences. Did he ever listen to any of those records? The post-Ross Supremes made some wonderful music which is just now being rediscovered.

He writes off white singer Chris Clark as a "not very gifted singer". From the few songs I have heard, she may not be a virtuoso, but she's not that bad! I know of some rabid Chris Clark fans who would challenge Nelson George on that point.

He spends a lot of time on certain subjects such as Motown's post-70's decline, but seems to spend very little time actually analyzing the music.

A writer, of course, has a right to his opinions and I think, in all fairness, he does a very good job with the book. My biggest complaint is that he seems a little cynical about Motown. I know that not all was happy beneath the wonderful music people heard, but there is still something in his attitude that bothers me a little. Sometimes he seems a little bit mocking in his tone. He wrote a later book about hip hop (a music style I don't care for) and seemed to treat the whole subject with more respect.

I'm probably being a little too analytical about this book.

Anyway, this is still a good book. Put on some Motown music and enjoy.

One of my smartest purchasing decisions was to pick up this work by Nelson George in June 1986 when it was still in hard cover. I've never let it out of my sight since. Time has proven it the precursor of a deluge: `Dreamgirl,' & `Supreme Faith' by Mary Wilson (1986, 1990), `Temptations' by Otis Williams (1988), `To Be Loved,' by Berry Gordy (1994), `Inside My Life' by Smokey Robinson (1989), `Dancing In The Street' by Martha Reeves (1994), and `Between Each Line of Pain and Glory,' by Gladys Knight (1997), among others. I bought them all and I read them all. By far the worst, was the October 1993 work by Diana Ross, `Secrets of a Sparrow,' which was quickly named the worst non-fiction work of the year by People magazine. I couldn't argue with them.

`Where Did Our Love Go,' on the other hand, proves a truth we discovered in the day of the very music it chronicles: no amount of tepid covers surpasses a towering original. Perhaps because Mr. George was not an insider at Motown in the 60s, his history of the company is so objectively good. I've read it many times in over 16 years, and haven't found a date or factual mistake.

And it is balanced. The wonderful music of those glory days in Detroit is given the respect and affection it deserves, as well as the how-it-came-about details. Mr. George acknowledges as most of us do, that Motown's 60s sound is timeless, and is going to outlive Berry Gordy, the artists whose names appeared on the labels, and we baby-boomers who were weaned on it.

Yes, the who-struck-John stories of disappointment are delineated fairly too: the career declines and /or disappointments of folks like Martha Reeves, Gladys Knight, Chuck Jackson, Marvin Gaye and, especially Florence Ballard. But unlike the recollections of the authors listed above, `Where' is not told by a writer needing to come out smelling blameless or put-upon at the end.

All these years later, `Where Did Our Love Go,' by Nelson George remains the single most essential biography of Motown Records you can own. Buy it anyway you can manage to, even used - just don't ask to borrow mine. Beyond it, there are two companion works you should also seek out for some fair and detailed `inside' looks of Motown in those days: `Divided Soul,' David Ritz' account of Marvin Gaye's life, which appeared first in 1985, and might have been helped in its excellence by the fact that its subject was no longer around to censor it or `advise.' Finally, from 1989, J. Randy Taraborrelli's `Call Her Miss Ross,' could likely be a dozen times more factual and objective than the 1993 work of the former Supreme herself could ever be!

The Motown Bible of it's day

For the time that it was written, I found this book to be my Motown bible. I still enjoy reading this book on Motown by someone who does not have an axe to grind with the company. Upon seeing the first review of this book, here at Amazon, I felt the need to respond. The reviewer mentioned that the author should have focused on Kim Weston's talents more than he did. Since 1986, Kim Weston has had a ton more recordings released by Motown then ever before. She never even had an album with Motown during her tenure. Her solo stuff released since 1986 could easily fill a box set. Her duets with Marvin Gaye could fill another two CD's. Had these recordings been available when the author had written his book, I would agree with the first reviewer. Her best recordings have only seen recent release. Kim Weston is probably the most talented woman to ever come out of Motown. Diana Ross had the luck and the hits but there was a stable full of women at Motown who were much more talented than she was. Also, the first reviewer mentions the talents(?) of Chris Clark. I love the whole Chris Clark persona and story. There are about four of Chris' recordings that I do love. However, if you listen to all of the Chris Clark recordings currently available on the Motown label (about three CD's worth) you'll question her talents, as the author also did. Mr. Gordy, in all of his arrogance once said, "Give me a singer who can sing three notes and I'll get a hit on her." I think he might have been thinking of Ms. Clark when he said it. By the way, he never got a hit on Chris Clark. This is an amazing book & a great introduction to Motown.

Although a little short on photos (it was obviously not the authors' intention to be another photo book), this is in many ways the best book for someone really interested in the subject of Motown to own,in that the author pulls no punches. Other books on this record company/hit machine of the 60s & 70s suffered from censorship by the record company's head and his people.

This book does not suffer that hinderance, and it allows us to read what really went on behind the scenes. It was not such a happy family with Berry Gordy Jr. as the paternal head as it is often depicted.

An excellent book, both readable and informative, and well worth getting hold of for all fans of the music who want to know what really went on as the records were made and the tours were run.

"Do you know, do you know" why we love this book so much? Everytime we read it together- and I do mean together as it only takes a page or two before our children join in on the repeating verses- we end up in a pile of laughs. The simple but colorful illustrations encourage small ones to think up yet one more place a falling star might end up and what would happen if stars really did fall into unexpected places. We still enjoy adding our own "star destinations" to this wonderful little book of such big imagination. Just right for the pre- or emerging-reader "Falling Stars..." heads our list of great gifts for 2 to 5 year olds. We bought it for our oldest at age 4. Now age 7, she easily reads it to her younger siblings. With poem-like,easy-to-remember verses, we predict it is destined to become a well-loved classic.

Melanie takes a child's imagination and lets it run wild. Each suggestion she makes brings joy and excitement to a child. This book causes a child to continue thinking even after the last page is read. Where Do Falling Stars Go? Read it and let your imagination run wild too.

Where Do Falling Stars Go? has a rhyming repetition that intrigues younger children and captures their imagination. They like to offer their own ideas as to where they think falling stars go. I have been a kindergarten teacher and I think this book would prove to be quite popular with young children. Now, I am also a grandmother of a 9 month old boy and he loves to have me read this book to him. He likes for me to insert his own name when the question is being asked, "Where do falling stars go, does Jakob know?"

I LOVE "Where Do Falling Stars Go?"! The pictures are so charming I wanted to frame them. And the words are poetic and amusing at the same time. I brought the book as a gift when I went to visit my cousins, and it was an instant hit. Their two-year-old son wanted me to read it to him over and over. Their five-year-daughter quickly memorized it and actually began reading her first words from it before my eyes. We've now sent it to several other friends -- always to rave reviews. No matter the age of the child we send it to, the brothers and sisters (and parents) all love it, too. The perfect addition to a child's library, and a wonderful gift.

Not only is Mr. Evans right on the money, but he does is hilariously. If you are a liberal standing on shaky, Mr. Evans is going to get you. The humor is gut wrenching, the satire thick and the message right on. Another good work from Mr. Evans.

Evans does a phenomenal job of expressing what's on every right-winger's mind. Chapter after chapter he hits the nail on the head and drvies to the heart of our country's problems.

I'd refer to it as the guide to America's struggles: Liberal quest for power vs. Republicans desire for progress.

A concise handbook in the fight against liberalism.

James Evans has done a good job in creating a simple, straightforward book that debunks the liberal trends in our country. He explains clearly the imaginary concepts that liberals conceive their ideals. He illustrates the roots that took shape in the 1960s that evolved into the leadership coming of age today. He exposes very well the outcomes of the law, Affirmative Action and public education. He also demonstrates common sense rules to live by that would create an orderly society. Mr. Evans was of the hippie culture of the 1960s. He later understood the irrational thinking that this liberal ideology would bring about. His book is an easy to read guide to the trends our country has been on for the past 40 years. He simply demonstrates good alternatives to develop good citizenship, self-directed responsibility, and a better community for us all.

The answer to many questions

You must read Where Liberals Go to Die if you want to find out where the current crop of liberal elite politicians, media wonks, and talking heads come from.

The media with much fan fare and airtime has greeted the current wave of tell-all books about the Clintons. All of these books try to find the "inner" Hillary or Bill, what shaped their lives and how they became the people they are today. For the whole story you need only to read Where Liberals Go to Die.

James Evans takes us inside the campus radical's mind (the Movement) and shows it to be no different then the so-called enemy. The only difference is that so-called enemy has power and the campus radical wants it. Mr. Evans takes the reader through journey of "let's pretend" where outcomes are meaningless, only intentions should be judged. In the minds of the liberals, according to Mr. Evans, if an outcome is accidentally achieved points are taken away.

Where Liberals Go to Die is a must read for any conservative and a great gift to any liberal.

Mr. Evans' book is the equivalent of Jeff Bagwell knocking a curve ball over the center field fence. Being a recovered liberal, he cuts to the chase of what he calls "The Movement". It points out what we bigoted, homophobic, intolerant consevatives/libertarians have thought and intuitively known all along. That liberals a.k.a. socialists are really nothing more than a bunch of spoiled, intolerant, fascist, arrogant, ill mannered, undisciplined, sniveling brats. It's nice to know that we're really not insane. They are.

As great as the W.W.II generation was, they did the nation a big disservice by never disciplining these punks and by spoiling them rotten. Now, we've got the Clintonistas in the White House, and people wonder how it happened.

What should have happened during the sixties, when the sniveling snots were protesting this or that, was the the deans should have had them arrested, expelled and sent home to Mommy & Daddy and had them spanked! and put to be without any dinner.

Way to go James. This book goes along very well with Thomas Sowell's "The Vision of the Anointed".

Everyone has secrets they've told no one- not many have entire stories vital to the knowledge of the world as a secret. In "Where the Birds Go When It Rains", Carey must tell his grandson everything he knows - that he can't possibly get from another source - before he set to pass on in a short two hours. Hoping to push a new archaeological theory alongside his riveting fiction, author Jamie Paul Wesseler provides quite the tale. "Where the Birds Go When it Rains" is a mix of fiction and metaphysical studies, and is highly recommended to community library collections.
