This book is a little different than I expected because it is very abstract and ambiguous. I expected a little more focus on ways to apply letting go rather than theory. All the same I do think it is a very good product and would recommend it for anyone trying to change their perspective along with a few other good ones.

Here's an example of a daily insight from this lovely book: "In the same moment you can see there is nothing to talk to yourself about that is worthwhile listening to - you will feel the faint stirring of a sweet new silence within you that braces the soul with a strength unexpected."

To start each morning by reading an insight like that, and work with it all through the day, is to invite something new into your life!

Highly encouraging and useful book

This is a great book. It's jam-packed with quotations from Guy Finley--one for each day of the year--designed to help people wake up to real life. A person could take any one of these exercises and change his or her life in a very profound way. The format of this new book gives us something new to work with every day. I definitely give it 5 stars.

You can't go wrong with this book - Highly Recommended!

What is great about this book it is that it helps me to remain steadfast in my wish for spiritual growth. For example, even though one day I may feel "spiritual" and another I may not, the simple intention to read and quietly work with the day's meditation every morning opens up new possibilities that I wouldn't have seen without it. Also, 365 Days to Let Go is very different from other meditation books I have seen as the words seem to hit a deeper place of Truth. Bottom line - You can't go wrong with this book, and because of its unique size and healing contents it also makes a great gift.

Over the years I have used many "daily mediation books". To have something positive to start the day is comforting. When I first heard about this book, I was very exited that the Truthful words of Guy Finley would be used for the daily meditations. A constant reminder of Truth is rare to find in this world. Also, Guy, in his unique way, ties together the movement of the seasons as a guide to our inner journey of letting go. The illustration of the seeds being let go with the little parachute is a perfect illustration of the nature of a universal truth that nothing is wasted, but is transformed.

This book provides the means for a daily "encounter of the Truthful Kind".

Beware of untamed hair!!!!
This is the best book to read right before picture day. You have to read this book with intonation and humor. After reading this book, I love using a graphic organizer that relates to having a problem. Oliver has a big problem that is solved until .......... picture time.

Some seriously awful and hilarious hair!

Oliver is having a bad hair day, on the worst day anyone could imagine -- class picture day! As the entire family soon discovers this is no ordinary bad hair day, it is "major" and "total!" Water, hairspray, brush, comb, mousse and gel are all useless against Oliver's bedhead.

You may think that a hat will solve Oliver's problem, but he soon discovers that hats are not permitted on class picture day. Kids howl at the great illustrations and crazily repetitive lines. Parents and grandparents had better get used to it, because there will be demands to hear Bedhead over and over and over again.

Very cute. (Give it several extra stars if Mom or Grandma is a hairdresser.)

Cute book

My daughter really likes this book. It actually is our second from this author/illustrator. The first is "Sweet Tooth". We really enjoy "Bedhead" and my daughter gets a kick out of how funny it's written and the art work is great. Although I have to admit, we absolutely love "Sweet Tooth" the best.

HAIRSTERICALLY FUNNY

A simply fabulously funny book about waking up with the worse bad-hair day ever.
Who hasn't tried to poke down those stubborn wayward strands of hair with the help of everything from water to mousse and gel? Kids not only love the subject, but can't resist joining in the refrain of b-b-boings. A great gift for anyone who struggles with chronic
or even acute 'bedhead'.

We've always been big fans of Arthur and Little Bear but the Bugville stories are much more fun. This book is a must have for all little kids! The drawings are sweet and the story is cute. Even after more than six months, my kids still regularly ask to read this book.

Great educational and fun book! I'm so glad I found the Bugville Critter books, they are the cutest things I've ever seen in children's books and I've purchased dozens if not hundreds of children's books over the years. What I love is how the books play into every child's misadventures and dreams. I was won over with the books with "Visit Dad and Mom at Work" and have since bought several others. The child who reads these books with an adult cannot help but learn about the naturla world around them.

This book combines attractive illustrations with a highly interesting story. The kids love it! Obviously a lot of thought and work whent into this one and we should be grateful to the author. Recommend this one highly.

We love the bugville characters and you will too!

This is a good book. The kids enjoyed the story, and the lessons that I wanted to convey about school and friends were covered very well. It's great when you have a favorite storyline such as these bug in your home anyway. And, it's even better when they address such issues as this - dealing with school, teachers, friends and other issues children face.

The book starts off with Buster being concerned about going to school and making friends, and follows Buster as he learns to get along with everyone and have fun while learning at school. Great, great book and one that every library should own. Highly recommend!

More adventures with Buster and friends!

Buster Bee Visits Mom and Dad at Work became my son's favorite bed time story. We read it so many times and I was delighted to find there are more Buster adventures.

Buster is nervous as he is starting school. His mother tries to tell him everything will be alright. He is thankful he knows some other bugs that'll be starting school too. He tries to be brave when he goes to school. When he goes to school he feels a little better because the teacher is nice.

He feels special when the teacher tells the class all about bees since he's a bee himself. He envies the smart girl in class but learns from his mother that he should try to be more like the smart girl. He goes through a series of escapades that had my son laughing and smiling.

Overall the story is well handled and a delight to read.

Despite decades of designing my own needlework patterns, I found Kooler's delightful horses irresistible; and after three years of adapting them into a queen-size bedspread, I still haven't tired of them, but my book's taken a beating! Though intricate enough to satisfy a veteran needleworker, the easy-to-follow charts put these superb designs within reach of newcomers to the craft. Even those of you who don't embroider will enjoy perusing this beautiful collection.

I bought this book over four years ago and have enjoyed it every since. Each of the twelve carousel horses can either be used as a "month" decoration or a "holiday" decoration. What I like the most about this collection is that it shows alternative ways to use small portions of the designs to create new and beautiful gifts. For example, I used a small floral from the "June Bride" carousel horse design to create name place cards for my own wedding. It was beautiful! Opportunities abound in this book!

This is a beautiful book of wonderful carousel horses. the group to which I belong has a tie in to carousel horses and I purchased this book, in fact I purchased two. Twelve ladies each took part in a project to create a quilt which showcased Donna Kooler's horses. The quilt was then raffled off with the proceeds going to breast cancer research. The pictures in the book do not do justice to how beautiful the finished products are--but they come close. I'm already being asked about next year's project!

Even though it's titled, THE CO-PARENTING SURVIVAL GUIDE: LETTING GO OF CONFLICT AFTER A DIFFICULT DIVORCE, I wish that I had read this book BEFORE the divorce was final because of all the outstanding ideas about co-parenting, that you, your former spouse, your lawyer(s) or even the court, may not address. BUT, if you are an open minded parent and willing to do what is in the best interest of your child/children (and isn't that the reason you are looking at this book to begin with), it offers some really outstanding suggestions.

I especially love the Co-Parenting Contract. It goes beyond the divorce decree, and really sets-up some workable guidelines for parents and children.

This book addresses several topics, offering up suggestions and examples.

THE BOOK: THE CO-PARENTING SURVIVAL GUIDE: LETTING GO OF CONFLICT AFTER A DIFFICULT DIVORCE...
BY ELIZABETH THAYER, PH.D.
IN THIS ERA OF SPOILED BRATS (THE PARENTS), THIS BOOK WILL HELP WITH THE CONFLICTS OF TODAY!! WE ARE NOT LOOKING AT THE REAL MEANING OF TWO PEOPLE MAKING THE COMMITTMENT OF MARRIAGE!!! SOCIETY HAS PROGRESSED TO THE SIZE OF THE WEDDING, THE DREAM OF THE PERFECT WEDDING, NOT THE COMMITTMENT OF REALLY LOVING THE PERSON YOUR MARRYING. CONSEQUENTLY, PEOPLE MARRY AND HAVE CHILDREN, THEN WHEN THE STRAIN OF MAKING A MARRIAGE WORK BECOMES TOO HARD......THEN DIVORCE IS INEVITALBLE. THEN THE GAMES.... BEGIN, ONE OR BOTH PARENTS DECIDE THAT THEIR FORMER PARTNER IS NOT WHO THEY WANT THEIR CHILDREN AROUND.....SO, POISION THE CHILDREN'S MINDS AGAINST THE OTHER PARENT. THIS BOOK HELPS BOTH PARTIES REALIZE HOW TO WORK WITH THEIR OWN CONSCIENCE....AS WELL AS HELP MAKE THE CHILDREN AS COMFORTABLE WITH THE SITUATION (WHICH MUST BE FIRST IN THE PARENTS MINDS). DRAGING EACHOTHER THROUGH THE COURTS IS NOT THE ANSWER, COURTS JUST DEAL WITH WHICH SIDE AS MORE LEVERAGE, EVEN THE PSYCHOLOGISTS JUST PLAY WITH THE SITUATIONS. WE NEED MORE BOOKS LIKE THIS, AGAIN DISPLAYED IN EVERY LIBRARY IN THE UNITED STATES.

I am a play therapist, author of "The Successful Divorce, In The Eyes of the Child" course and have taught parenting divorced for nine years. This is the book that says it all. The authors teach in clear logical manner how to co parent your children. They are sensitive to the pain both parents and children feel post divorce and teach how to proceed in parenting. I frequently use sections of their book in teaching to remind parents that they must still work together enough to meet children's needs. This is a concise book, no long drawn out narratives or tales of others pain... just the facts and how to avoid the pitfalls. I and the children of divorce, owe these authors a huge thank you. Their new book is also great,

I also love the rhyming component. It is a wonderful story especially if your child loves machines.

"I pray for you every night before I go to bed."

While volunteering to assemble care packages for our troops serving in Operations Enduring and Iraqi Freedom, Barbara Warfield Baldwin and her daughters came across heartfelt and compelling letters to the troops from local children that served to brighten the Baldwins' days. Dear Soldier is the compilation of many of these letters and pictures.

Meant to uplift the troops' spirits as well as boost the morale of the general public, Dear Soldier will have you reading out loud to whomever is in the room. The honesty and sincerity of kids is great. With phrases like "I hope that yall find that Osama Bin ladin," and "My brother says that he wants to be in the war. I'm thinking I might join him," you can see why these letters mean so much to our troops. And with lines like, "you might think I'm stupid but I made it to forth grade so I make A's and B's, so there," you can't help but laugh and share.

These letters and drawings are photocopied so you don't only get to read them, but see the handwriting and erase marks. Seeing what is important to the children as they were writing is precious. My primary criticism is that for some reason a couple of letters were repeated in the compilation. But don't let that sway you.

Armchair Interviews says: This is a great book to give as a gift, especially to our serving troops.

This collection of letters was both colorful in its words and in its pictures. Whether children are asking our soldiers to please come home safe, what guns they use in Iraq, or telling them about the pets they have in their homes, these children are all very aware of what is going on in Iraq; they know they are there fighting for our freedom and risking their necks to do it.

As you turn the pages, taking a look into each child's perception of the war, and learning what questions they desire to ask of our soldiers, you'll notice you have an array of emotions. Laughter is not a stranger as you read through these letters, especially when you read something like "how do you take a bath?" or "I have lots of friends here. Some are tall like a house, and some are short, but I like them anyways." Other times you feel your heart wrench at how considerate some of the letters are; "Try not to get hurt, ok? One thing the earth doesn't need is more hurt people." Or "You make me confident in everything. You make me feel safe in what I do." Statements like these are raw and real emotions that children are pouring out in their letters to these men and women in Iraq.

It is so inspiring in reading about the concerns children can possess for people they don't even know, as well as the innocence of a child when they ask the most simple of questions because they are truly interested in what type of food these men and women like to eat, and where they live, and what they do in their spare time when they are not being soldiers.

I found myself laughing on one letter, and crying on the next. Not only is this book a compilation of letters to our soldiers, I believe it is also a small piece of the positive side of life; an inside scoop into a child's creative mind as it spills over onto the letters with which they write; "I hope this letter from me will make you feel at home. I hope this letter will make you feel a little less scared. ...Whoever gets this letter, please don't die. If you do die with my letter so that will let the world know that I care for each and every one of you out there in the war."

I think Tim, says it best in his letter when he says "if you get hurt, make sure you get to a doctor!"

This is a great book, and would have saved our marriage if we had read it in time! I finally understand what happened between my wife and myself, and it wasn't either of our faults. Too bad we didn't know this until after the painful divorce.
Hormones affect men just as much as women, and we were both ignorant of how important it is to know what your spouse is going through at midlife. Give this book to anyone in their middle years, and they will be forever greatful. Heck, they should read it before they even get to that stage of life.
It should be required reading for everyone as they get to their 30's, and beyond

I thoroughly enjoyed reading DOUBLE MENOPAUSE by Dr. Nancy Cetel. It was comforting to know that there is solid information about the next phase of life for me. Being prepared for some of the possible effects of changing hormone levels will only make the transition easier.
The book was well written and interesting. I especially appreciated the chapter entitled THE TRUTH ABOUT ANTI-AGING. I agree with Dr. Cetel's philosophy about the aging process and found her advice for maximizing longevity very helpful.

An excellent resource for women and men to assist in understanding the ebb and flow of hormonal change during midlife. The effect of such changes on both the psychological and physical domains are discussed. The time during which these hormonal changes occur can become extremely trying and tumultuous for individuals and their partners. This book addresses ways to assess the changes that are occurring and approaches to managing them. Double Menopause speaks well to a complex phenomena and simplifies it. This is a unique resource for men and women whose lives are affected, directly or indirectly, by menopausal or andropausal changes.

A Great Read!

This is not only a very informative book, but an enjoyable read. Dr. Cetel is a great communicator. I knew a lot about perimenopausal symptoms but knew relatively little until now of the hormone-related changes a middle-aged husband would also be experiencing. Dr. Cetel gives clear, practical advice on what women and men can say and do that will ease and support the other's experience. Her "tips" for reconnecting with your partner and achieving greater intimacy in mid-life ("hormonal harmony") are quite actionable and fun (I've tried several already with good results.) I also liked her advice for an overall healthy lifestyle. This may be the one book on menopause your husband will want to read. I highly recommend it if you're committed to your marital relationship lasting and growing.

I used to listen to Viscott when he was on the radio and attended one of his seminars before his death. I think Viscott comes closer than anybody else out there in describing how emotions work.

I ordered this book because the title caught my eye; did I get an eyefull! Not only is it well written - come on, when was the last time you read a book and enriched your vocabulary at the same time?? - but it makes sense!
I was in the camp of 'oh no, not another book about childhood and psychology' when I started it, but a couple of chapters into it my reticence transformed into curiosity and 5 or so chapters into it I was hooked. What stayed with me well after finishing reading it are the character types, the emotional reactions in all sorts of settings and - yes, at the risk of sounding like an advertisement - how to experience the moment.
I recommed this book to anyone who is a seeker or anyone trying to make sense of the incomprehensible.

Wow! I'm so glad I ordered this book. I'd originally found it by looking for a "how do I let go of my past issues" book for my boyfriend, as all the other books seemed to speak in dreamy metaphysical terms that turned him off. But here is a book that explains things in rational, reasonable terms without being preachy or flakey. I LOVE this book! I'm in the middle of it now, and already changes are happening, awareness is heightened and I'm feeling more confident about myself than I have in a long time. Aside from the fact that it's so straightforward, this book offers more than how to "help yourself." Emotionally Free becomes a helpful tool in unraveling the seemingly indiscernible motivations of others. Have you ever found yourself face to face with a friend or co-worker whose reaction over a negative issue was such a marked departure from how they normally might react, that you have been flushed with fear and anxiety? READ THIS BOOK! I can't say how many times I've turned a page, read a few lines, and been brought to a memory of an instance like that and was thrilled to finally gain some understanding of what had actually happened. Amazing! You will not only learn how to deal with your own emotions, but your understanding of others will help ease painful, irritating or downright infuriating confrontations with others. I cannot say enough good things about this book.

Please tell me, does anyone know...

of a book by viscott (or any author) that elaborates on viscott's chapter "the skills for working through hurt"? I thought viscott's book was entirely worth while if only for that chapter and his 11 phrases that can be spoken to someone who has just said something hurtful in order to help diffuse the situation before it festers and turns into resentment and anger. These simple expressions have had a significant effect in my work life.

David Viscott was one of the most insightful practitioners and writers in this arena. I used to listen to him on the radio, and was always impressed by his ability to pinpoint issues. He understood emotions and how to resolve them.
