Excellent book for pediatric rotations/call

I cannot emphasize how wonderful this book is. It is an essential book for pediatric rotations. It contains admitting orders and things that you need to think about for all of the common pediatric complaints and better than that, it's thin and fits easily in a lab coat pocket. I couldn't live without mine (I'm a pediatric resident).

This book will save you money the instant you encounter hardware problems with your Mac or peripherials. Even top technicians would save a lot of time diagnosing the problems. With this book you just have to look up the symptoms. It's that easy. Though only old Macintosh models are covered it will help you spot problems on newer machines too. A must for every Mac technician and all Mac users who want to save money! By the way: repairing computers on a component level helps save the environement

I considered myself pretty familiar with my Mac. This book has taught me all those things I didn't know; And things I didn't know I knew. Just poking around my Mac, I've seen a lot of the extras Apple includes for the artistic user. The Mac has been a design tool since it's birth and Apple caters to that by putting many useful mini programs, accessories and utilities in to enhance the design performance.
I've seen some of those tools, used some and merely stared at others. That's where this book comes in. The author clearly lays out the what and how of all those tools. So every time I read a new section, I learn something about a tool I'm familiar with or am introduced to something I didn't know. This book is well organized and easy to understand. It's been well worth the price.

Diseases of the Sinuses: Short Review
Helpful Votes: 3 out of 3 total.
Review Date: 2001-01-27
This book is a most up to date review of Sinusitis by the pioneers in the field. Chapters on Gross & radiographic Anatomy are innovative, elaborate and very well illustrated. Genetics, physiology and pathophysiology, particularly of sinus polyposis, were well covered. A good foundation and methodology was laid for the controversial subject on staging of sinusitis. The chapter on the concepts and surgical indications of FESS has added valuable depth and focus to the surgical management by a master in the field. Complications of FESS were accompanied by usefull guidlines on their prevention and managemnet, including additional highlights on surgical technique, legal and ethical considerations. The chapter on revision ESS for recurrent sinusitis is a new and usefull addition. More over the latest in technology e.g Image guided FESS and instrumentation were comfortably laid out. On the other hand, alternative and more extensive external approaches to sinus diseases were well exhibited by their pioneers. A most interesting feature is the included CD-ROM which in additon to providing capabilities like search and note taking, is a second bonus copy of the book to keep in my office.

well I wrote/spoke/planned this.. so I'm bound to say its good!

it is.. it provides an overview/ intro to the whole dtp thing

with tutorials on QuarkXPress, Photoshop, Illustrator, Freehand... and how to make them work together..

ok it's now fairly old but the facts in there are still good and for an in-depth intro you can't get any better - I know my subject!

Goldstein provides a timely wealth of information in an easily readable format. The information is well documented and very futuristic; rather than the more typical books that talk about what's already happening. Excellent resources and examples are offered to depict relevant points. I think this is the most comprehenisve book on e-healthcare available today. It is a valuable read for practitioners, managers, and students interested in building core knowledge.

I can't help it! I'm totally enamored of how-to books that arefull of colorful pictures with numbered lessons. This title includeseleven color-coordinated thematic chapters, for easy and attractive navigation and study.

Flip to any page, and you will find:

* individual itemized tasks, charmingly illustrated

* columns of tips and techniques

* numbered lessons.

Let's try it, and thumb to page 194 and 195, containing "Part 8, Task 12: Using File Sharing:"

If your iMac is on a network, you can share files with other computers on the network. If another Macintosh is on the network, the other Mac can directly access the iMac on the network using File Sharing.

The author then proceeds to demonstrate how to select the File Sharing control panel, and in eight steps takes us to sharing "any Mac that logs onto your computer with guest access."

Ideal users of Easy iMac In Full Color are people who are new to the Mac, and who learn best via individual illustrated lessons. Lisa Lee thoughtfully makes the Internet her first priority, enabling readers to sign up and log in early in the book. If people want to delve deeper into additional Mac pursuits, they can do so at their own speed.

Both fun and serious subjects are covered, ranging from "Playing Games" and "Using Stickies" to "Editing a QuickTime Movie" and "Defragmenting a Disk." The design of the book is so appealing that I'm tempted to borrow Pete Miner's new iMac for a couple of months ("Don't even think about it, John!") so I can work through every lesson in Easy iMac In Full Color.

Don't buy this book for yourself if you are an experienced Macintosher. Instead, for $20 U.S., give it as a gift to someone who will let you use it whenever you need a little sparkle in your computing life.

Easy MacIntosh

This book is basically for the novice. It was invaluable with clear pictures and step by step instructions to accomplish basic tasks such as how to open a folder, to select, scroll, or view a window, to duplicate a document, to change the date or time, etc. This was written for earlier models, but this helped us, as rank beginners, to use our new G3 MacIntosh. We recommend it for anyone who has little experience using a computer. I hope it will be updated and reprinted.
