Hardware Books

Believe it or not this might be the best Vb 4.0 book book you ever buy. An intermediate and hardcore VB programmers would find this book hard to resist. In every chapter, you would find such a headiug "Dear John, How do I...?" OPPSS...Don't be fooled by this phrase yet, this is not just another "how-to" programming book which is usually filled with codes and codes... (sigh...boring...and make you more confused...). It has a very essential tool every VB programmer needs , yet, might have been forgotten somehow For example, in one of the chapter, the author gives you such an insightful trick in "how to make a tooltip" (tooltip is that cool thing that would appear anytime go inside the toolbar). Oyeah, not to forget this one, the book comes with a handy CD-ROM (for the lazybone type just like me, of course...) Buy now, and you can sleep faster and earlier this night (and the following day...and the following day...)

I try to get information about WDM. But It is very hard to foreigner. This book lead to easy way to development. There a few materials on the WDM. It is hard to collect from that. This book will save troble.

I teach at two community colleges and have taught various versions of Windows including 95, 98, NT and now 2000. I have never found a better book for teaching. This book is easy to follow and has ample practice files to help the individual work through the lessons. The book covers Windows more thoroughly than any of the five other books I have used and previewed. It is well worth every nickel! This is a great book not only for the beginner, but also for the expert needing to utilize all Windows has to offer. I highly recommend this book!

This is a compilation of 5 volumes rather than a single book and it also includes the NT resource kit CD-Rom with loads of usefull stuff (DNS server, multiple desktops, schedule service to name but a few of the ones I use ) but not the advertised Telnet server. The presentation is exceptional and really makes a difference in the way people work with NT. The kit consists of:

1. Windows NT resource guide
2. Windows NT networking guide (lots of TCP/IP info)
3. Windows NT messages (list of error messages + explanation)
4. Optimizing Windows NT (excellent guide to perfmon )
5. Version 3.51 Update + CD

I really think this is the best NT end user book to come along yet. It goes through all the desktop features, tools, utilities and some relevant content on networking as well!

Even if you are new to NT, this book will guide you to all that you need and more. If you have never worked with NT's interface, they give you a 120 eval CD so you can work with it and tweak it any way you want which. You definetly will and can use this book in the real world!!!

Color used to be so simple, you left it to someone else to handle. To be sure you could select the film you wanted to use to highlight blues or reds or whatever, and when printing the image you had some control over the printing process. With the advent of desktop publishing this has changed. Color management is in your hands.

This is a book that concentrates on color. It uses Adobe Photoshop Creative Suite 2 as the standard software package for illustrating what can be done. And there is one chapter on using Quark Express.

The book starts with the simple question -- why doesn't the image coming from your printer match what you see on the screen. By the end of the book you'll not only know why, but you'll know how to fix it.

As you can guess from the title, this book concentrates its discussion on Windows XP platforms. It's a welcome addition to the literature of handling color

I really love this book.It is very easy to understand and has everything a person needs to know about WinXp. If you are serious about getting into Windows Xp and learning bumper to bumper..this is THE BOOK FOR YOU!

The best part about this kinds of books are they treat you like you don't know anything about the subject.

For beginners, you will have great knowledge of how to use the operating system that is common among almost all computers (Believe me, Vista isn't there yet). Secondly, I like how the majority of the instructions are snapshots and are done step by step. While you learn the terminology of the parts of the operating system, you get to do the activities hands on. It makes a great combination of mental activity and physical activity. It will be like you know how to do anything on the computer period.

Overall I recommend it to anyone, even beginners. 5 out of 5

I have used Thomson Course Technology books (specifically the Shelly Cashman Series) both for college courses and for self-study. They are simply outstanding! This book, Windows XP: Complete Concepts and Techniques is no exception. It is very well written, organized, and lavishly illustrated. If you are truly interested in learning XP, you can not go wrong using this book's project-oriented, step-by-step approach to guide you.
