This book was first printed in 1923. It has excellent pictures of lace and trims both factory and hand made. Embroideries and findings are also generously covered as well as methods of manufacture and the history of all the textiles available at that time. I would consider this book a "must have" for the serious collector or researcher in textiles.

Fantastic Buying Guide to Eating Healthy!

As a big fan of the 1st edition of this guide, I'm just so pleasantly surprised that the new edition has lots more really great foods that I can now eat and know I'm on the path of a healthy lifestyle. I'm nowhere near a strict vegetarian so the Yummy Hunter's Guide has lots of choices that fit my mood. All cuisines are represented and I see some of these choices at my neighborhood Safeway so I don't have to haunt any of the specialty health food stores just to eat right. Very easy to use this guide and with it's cool size it fits right in your purse when you feel like shopping with an eye for delicious but low-calorie gourmet foods.

Don't let the size of this gold mine cause you to think you can stuff it in a hip pocket and walk Manhatten from one great experience to killer shop as an instant expert. There are way too many opportunities and options for that. A little prep with this puppy--say 10 to 20 hours (a night a week for 10 weeks BEFORE you get on the plane)--and you'll not only go to good places, but you will see the great places that you want to see.

I got my money's worth. In only 4 hours research I avoided a half dozen friend's "Oh! you have to see this..." got addresses and ranked some places so they were targets of opportunity between other things we had planned.

My wife and I went 3 for 3 on the top stores on my short list. We caught three other "unique spots" on the Madison-Ave-Zag's-in-the-hip-pocket-Walk. Bad part we walked a block from an Only-In-NYC retailer, that sounds light years ahead of anyone on the west coast...I read about it on the plane coming home...there is always next year.

But next year I buy the Zag's in May, map out a day of 57th to 34th before July and our '08 NYC trip will have about 10 new Must-Sees and a day of WOW in the midst of everything else that is wonderful about New York.

Not the only book on shopping and seeing NYC. Just the best.

Loved this Shopaholic book from beginning to end. Rebecca Bloomwood is a great character to follow through these stories. These stories and funny and charming and take you on a ride through a character's ups and downs in life and relationships...something most of us can relate to! Grab this one off the shelf!

I read this book after reading a newer book of this author, "remember me?" I must say that I thought this book would be funnier than what it was. "Remember Me?" made me laugh quite a bit and kept me interested, whereas with this one, I had to force myself to finish it. It was an ok read, but nothing special.

Hilarious!

This book was recommended to me by a friend and after bawling my eyes out reading The Kite Runner and Time Travelers Wife, I thought I should try something light and funny and I'm so glad I did! This book is great!! I found myself laughing out loud and not wanting to put this book down! The book is what it is - a crazy girl, with an endearing heart, that has a bit of a shopping problem -it's fun, light, and will make you laugh.

In fact, it was so much fun to read that I'm buying the next one. I didn't get enough of Becky! If you want a fun book to read, I highly recommend this one.

Interesting little film

Review Date: 2008-07-13
After watching the Night of the Dead remake, I decided to give Romero films a shot. To sum up my experience, I was surprised by the film. The film satisfies my zombie crave but it also delivers some meaning behind the purpose of the film. I won't go into details behind the meaning of the film, as I think after watching the film, anyone can get the meaning.

Dawn of the Dead features a group of people, Stephen, Roger, Peter, and Francine, trying to escape a zombie epidemic by find haven in a shopping mall. The movie focuses on the group trying to survive and ultimately, losing all that they accomplished not by zombies, but by human nature.

At first I thought the movie was serious. I thought about it for days. Then I watched it again, and I couldn't help but laugh at some parts:

* The part where Peter suggests to Stephen that he knows how to do abortions for Francine but Stephen declined. My first time, I missed this, but then after the second viewing I started laughing. I mean if someone suggested that to me, I would have been like, "Huh? How the heck do you know how to abort a baby? And you know how? I mean wow!"

* The blood pressure dude. Near the ending of the film, a man repeatedly tries to take his blood pressure despite the fact that there are zombies all around trying to eat him. I mean what the heck? And not only does his blood pressure reads 0 over 0, but on top of that, he dies in a rather horrific manner.

* The video arcade. When I first saw the video games at the arcade, I just couldn't believe it! I mean we've come quite a long ways in video games. Those who likes video games will really get a kick out of this scene.

* The guy with the eye patch. I laughed so hard at this part, I must have paused it about 10 times to show people. I mean it was so funny I sort of wish I had a camera or something to take a snap shot of this dude and use it as my avatar on MySpace and Facebook. I have no clue what the eye patch dude was talking about, but it was quite funny just to see it and I don't know a single person who would take this dude's suggestions seriously.

* The SWAT dude at the beginning. I mean he just went nuts! And for no reason! Just started running around shooting everyone, and finally someone in the SWAT team had to kill him. The part where the dude's head exploded made me laugh pretty hard. Not because his head exploded, but it reminded me of those old SNL shows where they would joke about the head explosions common in films of the 70s and 80s.

Overall, the movie is quite funny but at the same time it has meaning. Again I won't get too much into the meaning since I think anyone able to view this DVD will know what the satire is based on.

The Divimax DVD is pretty cool. You get all sorts of goodies and extras. Only thing disappointing is that there is no Subtitles, only Close Caption. That is fine, but if you're viewing it on HDTV, those who are hearing impaired will have a hard time.

I had been waiting for this set many a year. I remember it was said online (around 1999) that Anchor Bay was pulling together all known cuts of Dawn to form the most complete version ever. While that doesn't happen here, there's very darn little you won't get.
First off, the transfers. They look good, the colors are bright and vibrant.
Sound: It gets an "A" from me. I don't have a 5.1, so take that into consideration, but it still sounds good to me.
You get the theatrical version released earlier as a single disc, then the "director's cut" that had been released a few years back, the "Argento cut" AKA European edition AND Roy Frumkes' Document of the Dead. Special features abound, interviews, multiple commentaries (one per movie, just to clarify) and featurettes. The only thing I really found missing was Mr. Frumkes' commentary on Document, but that's pretty minor (and probably would have raised the price).
All in all, pretty much everything a Dawn fan would need or want.

I will keep this simple:

There is not a better written or executed zombie movie in existence that is better than Dawn of the Dead (and yes, that includes Night of the Living Dead).

Overall, all zombie movies should be judged by this one, including Romero's other flicks. This one is about as perfect as a zombie movie can get.

The beauty of this movie is that it wraps a social commentary around a gruesome horror movie that was way ahead of it's time. This movie was made during a time when shopping malls weren't as widespread as they are today. Zombies showing up at shopping malls, trained consumers. This movie sets the standard for horror films and it is stunning in every way. The story is great, the acting above average for a horror flick and the special effects incredible. This is a movie that influenced a lot of people and has one of the largest cult followings of any movie. A timeless movie, important in what it has to say, the precedent it set for the horror genre and one of the best movies that intertwines comedy and horror effectively. 5 Stars for the second of George Romero's zombie films.

There's something about "Dawn of the Dead" that makes it so captivating. Sure, there are plenty of great zombie movies out there, but this classic is one not to be missed. In case you're unfamiliar with it, it's kind of like a non-sequential continuation of "Night of the Living Dead". Set in Philadelphia, this tells of four SWAT-team members that hide out in a mall from the living dead, while taking advantage of the mall and getting kicks outta it, too.
That alone should let you know that this movie is awesome. Imagine what it would be like to shoot down the flesh-eating undead in a massive mall! This movie has everything from the zombie horror of blood-splattering and flesh-eating to thrilling action to slapstick comedy. The movie goes from scary to funny to sociopolitical all in its two-hour run.
"Dawn of the Dead" is, in case I didn't state it enough, an extraordinary movie. What other zombie flick offers shooting zombies down in an open field at the break of dawn, a blue-skinned Hare Krsna zombie and makeup artist legend Tom Savini in a leather-clad biker gang riding their motorcycles in the dead of night?
Yep, this movie goes from the slaying of the undead to genuinely ironically funny moments, such as slapping a whipped cream pie in a zombie's face, or the scene where two of the guys take the money from a register and smile for the security camera (that one's a good laugh!).
And just to prove that this zombie movie doesn't disappoint, there's plenty of the red stuff getting splattered from zombies and victims alike, alongside their consumption of flesh! And yeah, I'm sure you're aware of the social commentaries on the buyer's consumption at the mall. George A. Romero's good at the double-entendres in the plot like that, he's quite an intelligent film-maker.
"Dawn of the Dead" is definitely a special movie, and isn't necessarily one of those movies that you'd pop in every week or so. It's an experiece, and a stunning one at that, both visually and at times intellectually. So kudos to Mr. Romero, who knew what he was doing and never sold out, you made a great movie! All fans of zombie films MUST watch this classic! You won't be disappointed! Thanks for the time, and peace.

Becky Heads for the Empire State!

Review Date: 2008-06-29
OK, so this is not as good a read as the original "Confessions..." novel, but that's fine, nothing is as good as the original these days, right? And Becky Bloomwood is still a lot of fun to read about and her hi-jinks are still a hoot, right?

This is true, but whereas I was absolutely tickled reading the first novel, I found myself getting just a little bored with this story ... but just a little!

This time out, we find Becky, our girl-about-town, enjoying life as a featured financial guru on a top morning news show in Britain. She's gotten her act together, so her bills are paid (basically) and she's living up to all the financial advice she's given out on the show (kind of). She finds out that her boyfriend Luke Brandon is heading to NYC to open up a new location for his PR company and he asks Becky to come along. Once she's there, she's completely taken with NY's fashion scene - 5th Avenue is a dream come true for her! Before long, all the lessons that she learned about managing her money have been thrown out of the window. Just as she's really getting the hang of shopping "sample sales" and finding out all the really great new merchandise in the city, she finds herself, once again, in financial trouble and this time, she just might lose her livelihood!!

We get reacquainted with some favorite characters fromn the original "Confessions..." - Becky's roommate Suze is still around and has a new love interest and we get to hear loads about Becky's parents and their neighbors, once again. We don't really get to see Luke from a personal point of view, but we do see him more clearly through Becky's eyes as she describes the struggles that he goes through in getting the new location off the ground. We are also introduced to Elinore, Luke's real mother and see them bridge the gap that's made all the more huge since she didn't raise him, as she moved to the States when he was just a child. We are also treated to some new characters that help the story along, but even they aren't enough to make this book seem less shallow.

In the first book, we were mesmerized and a little shocked while watching Becky shop up a storm and a whole lot of debt. This time around, it just doesn't have the same thrilling effect. In fact, Becky begins to look a little pretentious and flighty, but veteran author Sophie Kinsella stirs things up a little and presents new angles and as they come in to play, happily, we do get swept up again.

While not as good as the original, this book was funny and it was nice to hear about Becky again. I, for one, am determined to ride this horse "all the way" and so I will read the other installments in the series, because I am a Sophie Kinsella fan and those things that I did not love about this book, haven't changed that. This is a cute book and worth picking up, I'll give this one "thumb up"!

I'm starting to really enjoy Becky!

When I first started to read Confessions of a Shopaholic, I thought to myself - what's all the hype? The book dragged a bit, but the last few chapters really made me get on the Shopaholic bandwagon. I had to find out what happened next between Luke & Becky. This book was so much better than the first in my opinion. Still typical Becky and I admit, I too felt frustrated with her at times, but then you just can't help to like her and love what she has with Luke.

My guess is that Sophie Kinsella had in mind a specific group of readers when she created her "Shopaholic" series. And that group does not include me.

Do you recall the girl from "American Pie" whose stories began with the now famous line "This one time, at band camp..." Well, this is what it felt like when I was reading this book. It's as if someone sat next to me and began babbling in my ear a totally meaningless, not even to mention boring, story.

It was bad enough that I had to believe that her character, who cannot even balance her checkbook, was actually a financial adviser on some TV show, but I also had a hard time pretending that this character was unique enough for me to care about her spending frenzies.

I will say that this series will make a fine sitcom, if someone comes up with punchier one-liners. So, one star for a sitcom potential and another one for the fact that this is a mindless read - which for some simply means a vacation for one's brain and that has some advantages.

Great book, warm and funny companion

I bought this book for my daughter who is 16 years old, after listening to Ms Kinsella at amazon.com. My daughter has cancer and has been convalescing in Houston, over the last year. She is tough. She laughs aloud as she reads this book, and she tells me that her daily plan is to go to school, do homework, read Shopaholic, go back to her studies, study her SATs, read some more Shopaholic, and chat with friends.

The magic of reading, and the magic that Ms Kinsella has poured on my daughter is unrepayable. Laughter pumps us up, and as long as my daughter is pumped up the world is a beautiful place.

An Easy and Successful Way to Menu-Plan

This is such a great concept- and it works, if you are faithful to it.

I got cookbook/guide a while ago and used it haphazardly at first, choosing to follow it on some weeks and ignore it on others.

Then, a friend of mine who saw it at my house and ordered it started following it faithfully and told me of her good experiences with the book. I decided that I would give it a go, and have not been disappointed.

I have only skipped one recipe in the "schedule," called Beans and Greens, because I knew my family would not go for it, but I make all the others without prejudice. For instance, last night I made the Mexican Lasagne and even though I KNOW my daughter doesn't like beans/legumes, I put the black beans in the recipe anyway, just as it was written. Surprise! She loved it!

I am of the opinion that it is good to expose our kids to all kinds of different foods and not give in to their eating quirks and preferences or you end up creating the "mac and chese-only" monster.

My family has enjoyed every recipe I have made, and I spend far less time stressing over dinner. We have saved time, money and effort, and I can safely recommend this book now from EXPERIENCE.

One caveat I should mention- sometimes I notice that the author could be a little more clear in her instructions. If you are a brand new cook, you may run into some confusion over some of the recipes. I would suggest reading through them first and making sure you understand everything before you begin cooking. For example, in the recipe I cooked last evening (Mex. Lasagne), one of the ingredients listed was a can of enchilada sauce. A can? How many ounces? I couldn't find enchilada sauce at my grocery, so decided to make my own from a recipe, but I needed to know how many ounces of sauce to add to the recipe. I ended up doing a search on the internet and found that Ortega sells cans of Enchilada Sauce that are 10 oz. it would have been a lot easier if the ingredient list called for one 10 oz. can of enchilada sauce....

Still, a little creativity usually overcomes these few shortfalls. I still think the book is good enough to give it a 5 star rating.

I really bought this book because I have two small girls and I wanted my family to be the family who cooks dinner every night and eats at the dinner table instead of feeding the babies and us eating later. So I thought this would be more of a workbook or something to help me accomplish this. Okay, so I already have cookbooks and I can honestly say I can write and use a grocery list. So this seems to be all this book is. A cookbook with a grocery list. If cookbooks and grocery lists did it for me, I would already be cooking dinner for the family every night.

I really love this book. I took 2 weeks worth of recipes in this book, because I had 3/4 of the ingredients from 2 weeks worth already in my kitchen, and I created 1 weeks worth of dinners and the grocery lists. My husband and I were really amazed at the different types of foods we can cook for LESS than the monotonous food we were eating before. We now have variety for a lot less.

I received this book as a wedding present and didn't open it for the first year I owned it because the recipes were too simple for my husband's and my taste. We love to cook and love experimenting with flavors, and everything just seemed bland and unimaginative.

However, it was the only cookbook I brought during the time I spent in South America doing research for a few months. I love the joy of cooking complicated recipes for my husband at home and honestly, I was worried that without him I would be too lazy to cook healthy meals just for myself. Also, I knew that it would be difficult to get many different spices and I didn't want to buy things in bulk that I would not go through in two months.

When I got there, I realized that the nearest supermarket was ten blocks away, a distance I would have to walk with grocery bags, and that because my stay was only temporary, I didn't have all my kitchen supplies from home to use.

I have given a number of the recipes in this book a try, and while I still hold the same views I did before, I have to say that for someone who needs to eat simply and does not have a wide range of ingredients or kitchen tools, these recipes have turned out reliably well. I have made the garlic lime salmon (not the chicken, although I substituted chicken for the salmon, but it is a different recipe than the one everyone raves about) and pepper chicken. I was glad to have extras so I would not have to cook every day, which took the stress off.

So I would recommend this book for someone who needs simple recipes with easy-to-find ingredients.

I made 2 dishes from this book, followed recipes to the letter, and both came out poorly.

The Orange Chicken was so bad that we ended up tossing 4 chicken breasts, 4 cups of rice and a lot of fresh broccoli. The book seemed to cost me more than saved me time.

I am moving on to a few other books and giving this to someone who might want to take more chances than I.

I am not the type of person to not finish a book, but I couldn't force myself to read all of this. I have read the other books in this series. I liked the first one. It was kind of original and somewhat relatable. But now, the main character, Becky Bloomwood, is just annoying and irresponsible. The foreign bank accounts, credit cards, etc. are just ridiculous. Her husband has become a joke. What man, of any means, would put up with this amount of lying and trickery. I realize that there are people out there who have shopping disorders such as this, but it's an addiction. I think that the next book should be Shopaholic and Therapist.

I could not put the book down! I stayed up until 1:00 am to finish it. I absolutely loved it. I found myself hysterically laughing at so many parts in the book (Becky's mum and Janice talking about what labor was really like & the names Becky told Elinor they were considering.... so funny!). The story brought so many memories back of my own first pregnancy and the fears I felt about labor and being someone's mother. Also, that first time you see that little baby and the feeling that comes over you - Sophie Kinsella hit it on the head! Then there was the serious parts too when Becky thought she had lost Luke (and I don't blame her for feeling that way either). All around, it was just a FABULOUS book! I know Sophie Kinsella has said she will bring Becky & Luke back, I really hope this is true (she just HAS to - too much is left unfinished)and that she does it sooner rather than later (that's for my own selfish reasons - LOL). In fact, I hope she brings them back in several more books (for those who think the story is over, you don't have to buy them - there are plenty of us who will GLADLY keep on reading them).

Hideous!

I have directed my dear sister to never, ever use me again as guinea pig should she want a "guy's reaction" to a book. I can only hope that this expression of so-called chick-lit is not the standard by which most women are entertained. Ms. Kinsella has, as we say in pre-school sandlots, a bit of a potty-mouth, and has transformed this into a genre that I title as "Wants to be cute so she swears." OK, we get that you know all the FCC-forbidden words. We get that your characters think endlessly about consummation of, well, just about any enounter they encounter. My recommendation for Ms. Kinsella's penalty is that she must stay on a desert island for one full month (one of the longer months, like March), and then read and read Bronte and Austen (not re-read, as I am sure that writers like Ms. Kinsella have never read Bronte or Austen), and learn from them how to use prose to transform the reader. I even have a new crime of which I now accuse Ms. Kinsella: Prose Abuse.

Pearls of Lutra, by Brian Jacques, is part of the Redwall series and i believe deserves 3 stars. This book has many songs and poems, most of which are just filling up space, but the main character is very intriguing. I would recommend this book to kids under the age of 15 because all the characters are animals and the songs and poems are good for the little kids to enjoy. I enjoyed most of this book and i hope you do too.

A magnificent review of The Pearls of Lutra

The Pearls of Lutra by Brian Jacques is a great book of adventure and surprises. The book takes place in Redwall abbey, Mossflower wood, and on the seas, between mossflower and the island of Sampetra. Ublaz Mad-Eyes, a fox who has comfortably ruled with an iron fist for as long as anyone could remember, owns the island. Ublaz rules over many vermin, and a few score cannibal lizards. However the main characters of this book are Tansy the hedgehog, and her friends who take on a quest to find 6 perfect pink pearls, referred to be the title. This book is filled with Jacques' usual, including endearing characters and perplexing riddles. The riddles were quite entertaining in this book, providing considerable challenge. Also Martin the Warrior makes a few appearances in dreams, and Martin the second shows up too, being his normal dependable self, protecting the ########, and bringing villains to their knees. On this journey with Martin is Grath Longfletch, an otter bent on vengeance of her slaughtered family. All in all, not one of my favorites, and the relationship from the animals to the natural world is kind of confusing (trees, waves, etc.) but one of the better fantasy books out there. If you liked this book, you'll probably also like The Long Patrol which is another book in this series.

The book The Pearls of Lutra by Brian Jacques is a great book with many twists and turns. If you liked the other Redwall books, then there is a good chance you'll like this addition to the series. It's about an otter who's Holt (tribe) is slaughtered by a band of "seavermin". She comes upon Redwall abbey, and after their Abbot is kidnapped, she sets out on a quest with Martin, and other creatures, for vengeance of Holt Lutra, and to rescue the Abbot of Redwall. After a few broken ships, going under an inactive volcano, and getting towed around be seals, they finally get to Sampetra. Sampetra is an island of Ublaz Mad-Eyes, which is torn between a war of Ublaz and his cannibal-lizards, against many traitorous vermin, who used to be loyal to him. Ublaz, who was after 6 perfect pink pearls that he thought were at Redwall, keeps the abbot locked in his palace. Four Redwall creatures then began a quest of their own. An old creature who recently died has hidden the 6 pearls, which the abbey creatures plan to use as the Abbots ransom. Will the 4 creatures find the pearls to save the abbot? Will he even need the ransom if Martin gets there first? Will Martin even succeed in rescuing him? Read The Pearls of Lutra to find out!

This book is about a young hedgehog growing up to be an adult. When he grows up his father gives him a quest to become a warrior. His quest enables him to find out that he's a prince. This book is a real good book if you like action books. I enjoyed the adventures and war topics found in this book. Enjoy reading this book because you'll enjoy the read.

I don't understand how this book got so many good reviews! It was awful! Let me list the things that I hate about this book.
.No battle at the end
.No armies
.Stupid puzzles
.I actualy felt sorry for the bad guy, he just got tricked and creamed so many times, he's hardly a threat to the good guys! He keeps getting crushed by these pirates, his army betrays him to the pirates, and the 5 good guys show up in the end and totally destroy the rest of the bad guys army, the pirate's ship, and the bad guy himself! It was pitiful! In all, this book was terrible, I only gave it one star because it had a cool swordfight in the end. Skip this book! Read the other Redwall books though, they're good {except for Loamhedge, it's bad too}.

I absolutely loved this book! It's a great how-to guide for updating your look to avoid becoming a fashion don't! I went shopping this weekend and used several tips from this book and therefore avoided purchases that are not flattering to my shape. I am excited to clean out my closet and gradually rebuild my wardrobe!

The Lucky manual is a helpful tool for pairing shapes of every piece you can buy for your wardrobe and does not limit you to the time when the book was written. I would have liked to see a section on coordinating fabrics like: What in the world goes with a linen skirt besides cotton? And maybe a little more guidance for getting color and pattern combinations right.

I really liked this book

It took me awhile to get around to buying it, but once I did, I wasn' sorry. It really gave me a lot of ideas about how to put pieces together. The advice (for the most part) is pretty applicable across a wide variety of body types, ages, etc. It really isn't about looking young so much as it's about looking modern. Once I read this, I realized that some of the clothes I had been hanging on to were older silhouettes that weren't right for my body, or weren't updated. Reading this gave me the courage to clean out my closet and pitch things that weren't right. The sections on jackets, suits, sweaters and pants, in particular, gave me a lot of good ideas about how to dress for work. I had fallen into a rut of wearing plain black pants + whatever top and now I have some inspiration to try different things. And, the section about how to pack for a 3-day trip was GREAT for me, because I am a chronic overpacker. Now that airlines are charging people who check ANY bags, I need to learn how to pack for short trips in just a carry-on, and the Lucky Manual's tips were VERY helpful.

I do have a couple issues with the book. One is the swimwear section. There's not really a lot of helpful advice for what to do to solve particular body problems. It's more a focus on how to pick out two cute pieces and make a swimsuit, and there seems to be an assumption that everyone has a cute little figure that will look great in anything. Since pretty much everyone I know over age 25 has some issue they're trying to solve when they shop for swimwear (my thinnest friend, who looks great, is now fretting about "aging cleavage" if you can believe that) - I think this section could have been a LOT more helpful. Although most advice in the book is very commonsense, there were a few little things here and there that seemed to indicate a bias towards the young and skinny - but honestly, it wasn't a huge part of the book and I was able to get past it. The other issue I have is that some of the suggestions (wearing a huge, poofy fur trapper's hat with a conservative streamlined coat?) are just too funky for me, or really for much of anyone. In big metropolitan like New York or L.A., maybe some of these looks would look chic but in my town, they're what crazy bag ladies wear, and people would not be doing double-takes because they thought you looked hot. That being said, there were only a few of the "huh?" looks in here. Most looks were very attractive and really inspired me to branch out of the rut I was in.

One more tiny thing - I am not sure who did the photographing for Andrea Linett's profile in the book, but she really did not look very good. The pictures of her were not flattering and made her look strange, in my opinion. I have seen other pictures of her where she looked better, but maybe those were older pictures? In any case, she may have great style in real life but the profile of her in the book was anything but convincing of that, for me.

Anyway - bottom line, I think this book is a winner. Lots of great ideas in here for women of all sizes and ages.

I disagree with the reviewers that say this book is only for a young fashionista. I'm a fresh-looking active 53 year old and have adored fashion my entire life. What I love about this book is that three of the "Lucky Girls" practically live in jeans and build their wardrobes around them. Some of us gals DO have casual lifestyles and only occasionally use that little black dress in the back of the closet! That doesn't mean we don't want to look great every day. The numerous outfits coordinated in this book inspire me to rethink how I wear each article of clothing in my closet, and I'm definitely a minimalist. This is a fantastic book for ANY woman who wants to have fun with fashion. Isn't that the whole idea?

Not recommended for petite women.

This is a fun book to look at because it has a lot of pictures of outfits and ways to combine things, but I do not recommend it for petite women. Many of the clothes featured would not be flattering to a petite frame or available in petite sizes.
