This is a great little book to get you around LA if you are a shopaholic and even if you are not. It inludes even the most obscure shops and has very honest critiques and good directions - plus lots more!

Top Notch :-)

This is the second book of theirs that I've bought. They are great because they are up to date, and so helpful. With each store, it has the address, phone number, opening hours and everything else about it that can be of use. They give good descriptions of what the store carrys and a tid bit of info about the owners etc. At the back of the book there is a few restaurant picks as well. Another great thing about this book is that it caters to anyone of any financial status. There are high end stores and stores geared to people with a budget in mind. The only possible bonus they could maybe include next issue would be a few photos here and there, but really, in general, this guide is great for helping you choose the best spots to go to and you can narrow down what is and what isn't of interest to you. Although I know Los Angeles very well, there are a few stores in here that I may not otherwise have known about and for that, I'm happy to buy a copy every couple of years or so.

Finally a book that's easy to understand which guides you to savings by means of sound advise, tips and direction. Detailed, yet uncomplicated with a touch of humor to strengthen each point. Truely enjoyable reading. To top this powerful little paperback off, is a CD with well-organized links to Bargains, Classifieds, Consumer Reports, etc., even free Internet Service. There are literally thousands of links. I may only read the book once, but this CD will long serve me as a source of information and savings.

Great Book! She READ MY MIND!

Great book! This was the authors first book and I gave her 5 stars because for a first book, she really made an impact. The whole book was a REALITY. The first chapter talks about annoying coworkers. While reading about them, you almost feel as if you know them and you can certainly picture the author's facial expressions as she writes about them. Another chapter is about Dunkin Donuts inability to get her order right. She says that the only thing consistent at Dunkin Donuts is the tip jar that is always displayed on the counter. Other chapters include: *Cell Phone users, *Parents LACK OF parenting skills causing kids to be out of control, *Road Rage, *Technology that should be undone because of how lazy it has made us, *disgusting people (from nose pickers to women peeing on public toilet seats!)*the horrors of grocery shopping.

It was a great first book and I can't wait to read her next one!

A handy and small reference guide

This was one of several books purchased before our trip to Spain. It was easy to take on the plane and also fit in a purse pocket and proved to be a good small reference book. Get a more detailed and more current guide for pre-planning, but this book is easy to use and provides pictures and facts and directions and maps that make this a fine addition to your trip planning.

Shopkeepers beware!

Left on their own, the aardvarks almost destroy a mall during their quest for school supplies. Finally the bagel boy forces them to clean up their mess and put everything back. The last stop is for haircuts. After being permed and manicured, they bounce happily out of the mall promising/warning that they'll be back next year. These aardvarks make Arthur look like a stick-in-the-mud. However, they do manage to look contrite even as they are wearing the bagels they tried to hide among. Silliness reigns both in the rhyming text and watercolor illustrations that don't miss a detail of the mess.

this book (Bags, Boxes & Tags : The Best of Graphic Design for Shopping Bags) holds among its 192 pages everything you need to fulfill the design you have statred. Joyce Bautista did a very successful job when she compiled this book. for example i was interesting in hand bags designs, eventhough i had a lot of ideas, but it's only because of this book i could complete what i started. i learned what is possible and what's not to create bags and boxes. What is practical and what is incovenient for the shopper. it's really a very good book that can answer every single questions in the of domain graphing and designing bags, tags and boxes.

A Real Bargain
Helpful Votes: 12 out of 12 total.
Review Date: 2000-09-12
I love bargains, and I've had pretty good luck bargain hunting in the past, so I wasn't sure I'd learn anything new from this book. Happily, I was wrong! The Bargain Hunter's Handbook starts out with the 12 Secrets of the Bargain-Seeker. They're fairly common sense tips, but it never hurts to have a reminder. And within the 12 Secrets, they give some small examples of how to use the tips. The rest of the book is dedicated to big examples in specific areas, like shopping for cars, homes, and medical care (that was a new one on me), or just plain shopping. One of my favorite parts are the sidebars -- called "The Bargain Hunters Journal." They're quick snappy examples of successful bargain hunting, and easy to find, since they're along the outside edge of the right-hand pages. The examples illustrate how the tips can work for you, and, if you're anything like me, they'll get your mind working overtime on where and how you can try out the Bargain-Seekers Secrets. I consider myself a pretty savvy shopper, but if I've got a high school degree in Bargain Hunting, authors Rob and Terry Adams have Ph.Ds. However, with The Bargain Hunter Handbook in tow, I'm on my way to graduation.. and to the mall.

I own the previous edition of this book and used it during several trips to London in 2006 & 2007. It has a breadth of information and detail that make it very useful for bargain shopping in London. The UK is so horribly expensive now to those of us stuck with incomes denominated in US dollars, that a guide like this is indispensable. I saved a significant amount of money by using it.

Isaac Hill

Your book has saved my life, This book has taught me to value my money and not to spend it with those.. stores, who do not share the millions and millions of dollars in profits with me. Never would I have given a second thought... to receiving money in a form of a rebate and being able to use this money to pay off my bills, your book recommends many great stores, with wonderful merchandise many of which I was shopping at, and not getting anything except my purchase. Now thanks to your rebate book I have saved hundred's of dollars (I am getting paid to shop for my self). Stores are forming a line for my business. Just my buying need Items, toliet paper, soap and those great vitiams.. are helping to pay off my debt. This is incredible, This book is well over due. Isaac Hill had I an oppurtunity to your book sooner my financial health would be great. I look forward to becoming debt free.

Thank you.
