This book had me on the floor laughing my butt off! I have a papillon and I can all too well relate! Telling the story from the dog's point of view of her humans and her life made for a hilarious read. Once you pick up this book you won't put it down until you reach the end. Definitely a book that you can read more than once!

GREAT BOOK. I'm a papillon owner and a friend gave me a copy of "Genevieve's" book. I laughed till my sides ached. I read it in one
evening and then read it again. I've watched my papillons "zoom" around
the house and act just like Genevieve. I've purchased several copies to give to friends as gifts.

I bought this book along with a book supposedly about the breed. However, this book had more information than the other book which I returned. Not only did it have information, but it was told in such a humorous way that many times I laughed outloud.

Genevieve is so funny!

This book was given to me by my sister. As a working mom to three papillons and foster mom for rescues, my reading time is limited. However, this book was so humorous that I just couldn't put it down. I could see my oldest pap agreeing with Genevieve many times while I read the book. I would pick out passages in the book and read them to my husband, and he would say "that is just like them".

Genevieve is a spunky little girl that doesn't take life for granted and sees humor in everything. Denny, her human translator, helps her put her thoughts into wording that anybody can understand.

This book is great.

Can't wait to read the sequel!

This is a great book for any dog lover, and for papillon owners in particular. I felt as though I was reading about my own dog. The author captures the quirky personality traits of the papillon perfectly - I laughed through every page. This would make a great gift for those who know and love papillons.

Dennis Fried's A Tongue In The Sink: The Harrowing Adventures Of A Baby Boomer Childhood is a laugh-out-loud memoir of growing up in a small town in the 1950s about mistrusting today's youth, the seemingly bizarre yet omnipresent electronic technology, the inability to remember whether one's favorite movie stars are dead or alive, and so much more. A Tongue In The Sink is a delightfully chuckle-worthy tour of one man's adaptation to changing eras, and sure to strike a chord in the hearts of his fellow baby boomers.

This book is one of the best, funniest, and most entertaining books I have ever read. Both my husband and I enjoyed it so much. The day I bought it, I spent the rest of the day reading it....and just couldn't put it down until I finished it. Reading this book causes fits of giggling, snickering, chuckling, and laughing right out loud from cover to cover. Both Genevieve and her human, Dennis Fried, are wonderful writers who know how to entertain their readers. Anyone who ever was a child will truly enjoy this book, regardless of their age or when or where they grew up. It is filled with insight and humor and brings back a lot of memories of "the good old days" when we were younger. Genevieve has counseled her human well...and should encourage him to write more books.

How many books make you laugh out loud? If you want to take a look back at growing up in the 50's and 60's and reflect on the antics of your own childhood, then this book is a must! I havn't laughed so hard since reading Dave Barry's Big Trouble. Denny Fried's blend of humour and personal philosophy make for a delightful journey into yesteryear.

It's true that Denny Fried's look back to see what was gaining on him in his youth will make you laugh, as the book cover warns. But be prepared to experience deep nostalgia, even, amazingly, for places you haven't been and cultural corners you haven't explored. Fried draws readers into his childhood while at the same time hurling them back into their own. A terrific read--for boomers and everyone else.

I love a book that is interesting and also makes me smile;
I found such a read in Mr. Fried's work, " A Tongue In The Sink."
It was like a breath of fresh air to me, one enjoyable read for sure.
Taking us back to his childhood in the 1950's, our author shares his childhood in a fun and entertaining way. He packs his work full of stories that will make you giggle and chuckle, but you will find you will also feel the stirring within you of your own heartstrings as you remember your own growing-up years. Good or bad.
This is a great read and I am proud to recommend it to you. Sit back and enjoy. A top of the notch work that should not be missed.

What a fun way to get children interested in the world and in travel. My pre-school aged gand-kids and I went on an exciting adventure with a little girl and her dog, and along the way learned a thing or two about this far-away magical (but real!!) place called 'Paris'. Maybe someday we can go there together - and we'll already know how to find that Eiffel Tower.

Here's a book that you want to take with you everywhere. The characters become your friends so it's hard to come to the end of the story! It's a good read that's about people we know. Yet this book is beyond that. Within some esoteric concepts of why we're here, The Originators plots a web of international political intrique, futuristic science and technology, and concepts that touch upon the very fiber of our bodies as we age. There are sub-plots of love, friendship, countries that spar, some biblical references for fun, plus a larger theme that strikes a cord in all of us a la The Time Machine or l984 - but not really! You'll have to find out, but hurry. It's great summer reading! If not now, I'd buy it out for one of those long airplane rides this fall or winter. Enjoy!!

Better than DaVinci Code!

If you're looking for a historical novel laced with intrigue and compelling dialogue, then this is your summer reading! The author weaves actual scientific and historical facts into a science fiction/thriller, leaving you to question assumptions held about politics and energy dependence.

I've been wanting to build model of Eiffel Tower for about 20 years. I've been drawing the main structure from bits and pieces I was able to collect over the years, and a lot of guess work. Then I came this book, and it was everything I've been looking for. It has all the dimensions and details you need to build an acurate model. It has details of the base of legs, the tower structure, original floor layouts and mechanical plans.
This book is worth every penny, I wish I would of found it 20 years ago.

What can you say? You got all the original drawings, the explanations, and also the calculations.
It is amazing the way they did things in the past.
Also if you like history, the book is full of it.
The book is a complete review of all the facts of the Eiffel Tower.
You don't need to be an engineer to enjoy the book, but if you are, I bet you'll enjoy it even more.
The pictures are excellent.

A very well written book about Windows programming and object component technology. The authors are very concerned by making you grasp how things are supposed to work when doing Windows programming and the plan they chose to show all aspects of Windows programming is in my opinion very good.

With the book, you have a CD with all the examples they refer to. The examples are very well done and this definitely plays a major role in understanding all the aspect of Windows programming.

One thing which contribute a lot to the clarity of the book is the usage of the Eiffel language and its Windows Eiffel Library that make you concentrate on the useful part, ie Windows programming.

I definitely recommend the book to all newcomers to Windows programming or people who have some Eiffel experience that wants to do Windows programming. To finish, you don't need to know Eiffel to understand the book and this is definitely a plus.

Made Easy is the Bottom Line

This book is exceptionally well written and presents both novice and expert topics using an example driven approach that stimulates and motivates the reader. Both authors stress the most important lessons to learn in each chapter clearly and the reader comes away with expert experiences that other books just do not capture. The examples are in Eiffel which is another bonus as not only do you learn Windows development principles, but you also gain an indepth understanding of object-oriented principles that are lacking in many other languages. Eiffel is not a prerequisite at all as I had not even heard of the language before reading the book, and I would definitely recommend the book to those wanting to discover an experts opinion on Windows programming with the added benefit of learning object-oriented principles at the same time.

Easy and handsome model of the Eiffel Tower

I had first seen this book waaaaay back in the early 1980s and convinced my mother to buy it for me. It was pretty easy back then for a ten-year old to put together, and is even easier for me as an adult now.

I recently found a used copy that had never been assembled (joy!) and promptly bought it. The model is made of simple shapes that accurately mimic the look of the Eiffel Tower. You simply cut the pieces out of sheets of heavy cardstock, carefully score along the folding lines, fold and glue them, and voila! In practically no time at all, you will have a gorgeous model of the Eiffel Tower that measures almost three feet tall.

This model is perfect for a Francophile friend, or that French teacher you might know. It is a very good looking model, and shamelessly easy, even for butterfingers like myself.

For those of you lucky enough to find a used copy to build, a suggestion from me to make it just a bit more interesting, but a little tougher to build, is to carefully copy all the pieces on construction paper, but copy the two lower sections of the model twice. You will end up with enough pieces to build two sets of the lower sections of the Eiffel Tower. What you want to do though, is carefully assemble one set for the outside of the model, then take the same identical pieces and carfully assemble them backwards so that they fit INSIDE the model.

Then, after you have finished the model from the ground up to the second level, assemble the model as usual, and you will discover upon completion that you have built a somewhat more detailed model that include most of the interior framwork, just like the real Eiffel Tower!

I did this twice. Once for my dear friend who collects Eiffel Tower items, and another for myself to keep.

I don't know why every single person in the entire world wouldn't have this book in their collection. Would it be too bold for me to suggest that this book is a must-read for children and that all parents and teachers should buy it? I think not. The author is obviously a border-line genius or something. I've never learned so much so quickly about the Eiffel Tower.

Fantastic scale model of the Eiffel Tower

Review Date: 1999-12-14
I found this book and purchased it over a year ago, back in 1998 for a dear friend who is a collector of all things Eiffel Tower, especially models.

I was impressed with the level of detail for this model, and despite the muliple languages, it was relatively easy to follow along for assembling. Although printed on transparent plastic sheets, I went the extra step of carefully removing the plastic from between each girder before assembling the various pieces.

Needless to say, I almost could not make myself give it to her for her birthday as was intended. It looked very much like a proffesional scale model.

For anyone who is so inclined, this model is simply magnifique! Not since the paper model that graphic designer Alan Rose put out back in the early 1980s have I seen such a well made and detailed scale reproduction. It's superior in every way to any souvenir model that you could find in Paris.

I enjoyed the experience of putting this model together, and the results of finishing it so much that I have since found another one and put it together for myself, and have since begun selectively collecting odds and ends of the Eiffel Tower.
