An excellent book for kids...kindergaden through middle school...to see what it takes to deliver a letter across town or around the word

Come on guys, this book is better than the review given above! Granted, this is for children with an above average IQ as far as the reading goes, but it is a delightful and imaginative story and the artwork is great.
The author has made numerous contributions to The Oxford University Press Childrens Anthology and has written and illustrated several other books that are all delightful.

The Power Of A Wish: A Celebration Of Love, Hope & Gratitude by Ali Spizman (an 18-year- old volunteer ambassador for the Mask-A-Wish Foundation of America) is a compendium of personal stories about the "wish kids" and their unforgettable experiences as their wishes were granted, providing them and their families with happy life-affirming events. Bailey did a wonderful thing in preserving on paper the house histories of the areas mentioned in the title. Too many of these houses are forever gone. Just as wonderfully, she researched and wrote family histories of the people who owned and occupied the houses.

As a professional genealogist, as well as an architectural historian, she used primary sources, such as wills and deeds, as well as secondary sources, like local histories and biographies, to document the lives of each house's owners and residents. As a clear and clever writer, she made what can be a dry topic readable and enjoyable.

I bought this when my 11 yr. olds were toddlers and now my 2 yr. old is listening to it. The 5 stories are wonderfully told and Bulla is a man of many voices. Bulla is an enthusiastic story teller with just the right flare of humor. These stories have sent my children off to slumber land countless times and amused us all on many road trips. I highly recommend it!!

Ted Palmer's book is an excellent resource for those of us practicing in the field of corrections. He takes a hard look at the research that is out there and gently persuades us to challenge ourselves to take new research to a higher level. The appendices, alone, are worth the price of the book!
