I learned so much about economics, politics, and our changing world. I just love this book, and would love to read the next book by the author.

I read this one about ten years ago after seeing these guys on television. Their style is easy and informative and they were early success stories; they are the co-founders of the motivation training company CareerTrack. This book and now the tape program offer numerous tips on entering the workplace and getting ahead. What impressed me was the "do the right thing" attitude they express. It is a fast read and if you take the time to actually do the goal setting they reccommend, it WILL change your life. I suppose my only question now is--Where are they now?

An excellent book for the job seeker who is in anyway affiliated with any number of mechanical, engineering or technical employment(s). As an employer it gave me keen insight what to look for in a resume and who, amongst the potential applicants, is genuinely qualified and honestly knowledgeable of the type of work he or she is applying for. The author did her homework. Very very good, a little dated for the 21st century but thats only because terminology constantly changes as everything evolves at the pace that it does. Still, it is an excellent book.

There's lots to know about what you can and can't ask, and a lot of that stuff is pretty obvious to an HR person. But when you're doing reference checks on a regular basis, even for an HR person, there's lots of little issues that come up that aren't so clear-cut. I picked this up to improve my own skill for reference-checking at work. I found it easy to understand, explained things in a very sensible way and answered pretty much all the little questions I had, which is exactly what I was looking for. I think it was a great, complete resource.

Following recommendations in this book I found a mistake in my background. I shutter to think what this would have done to my chances of being hired if I had not found this mistake prior to an airline doing my background check. Whew!

This is the best book I've seen on the subject, particularly from the Plaintiff's perspective, but a lot has happened since it was last updated and it needs updating.

This book is the perfect addition to anyone's arsenal of career tools. The extensive word lists presented in this book are bound to give anyone's resume a polished, professional, and educated look and feel, regardless of what industry their in. And there's a whole section on proper interviewing techniques too!

This is the best book to have when you are unemployed. I like it so much, I am sending a copy to my brother, now that he needs it. The book has excellent tips on what fonts to use, phrases and methods to avoid and information for interviewing. It covers the whole gamut with usefull information that really does work. You may think content on your resume is the most important, but getting it noticed is actually greater. If you use the wrong font or paper type(ie. gawdy flourescent colors), you will supply a potential employer with shredder fodder. The book warns you of these pitfalls and what should be included for highest probability of actually being read. I found, after using numerous items sugested, that I was getting much more response, when sending the resume to potential employers. I was also given many compliments on the composition and overall look of the resume. Granted, no resume can get you a job if you can't back it up, but the guidelines set forth in this book will get it looked at, and that is the beginning of the game. I have been with my present company for almost three years, after taking nine months to get employment. I can safely say that I do believe in the tips in this book, and if I need another job, will go through it again-cover to cover. Give copies to your friends that need jobs and you will help them out as best you can, second to actually getting them hired yourself. Good hunting.

It has served not only to provide solid examples, but shows different approaches for the one type of occupation, giving you an idea of the ranges of different styles and formats that can be applied. Its easy to find index allows you to source information easily and foreword and instruction for DIY writers are pearls of wisdom from a leader in the resume writing profession. Good for DIY'ers or as a resource for professional writers for inspiration.
