GameShark Pocket Power Guide, 5th Edition : From Code Boy with Love was a great book. It contained GameShark codes for all kinds of systems. The only bad thing was the slight lack of games. Never the less, GameShark Pocket Power Guide, 5th Edition : From Code Boy with Love is a great book.

This book is not the best roulette book I have ever read, it lacks the suave and professionality of other roulette books. However, its only redeeming quality is that the system provided within it, strangely worked for me. I have read countless gambling books that promised the world and only provided an interesting read. This book has been the first simple and practical book I have found that gives advise that when I applied to my Victor Chandler casino account roulette strategy, worked a treat. The author seems to be a practical guy, not wasting much time over the flowery details normally embellished by other more professional authors of this genre. You will find no personal stories here, no anecdotes no humour no history, no casino fashion tips, simply a great system for earning a daily living from online roulette. I currently make around €150 - €250 a day from the system in this book, more than I have ever done with any other roulette book previously read.

I've read this book about 7 times. I owned the paperback copy and now own the hardcover. I just absolutely love this book!!!! It is such a wonderful love story. I can read it over and over again and never get tired of it. I also own the double vhs of the movie. I only wish it were available on dvd.

Priscilla certainly lives a vivid fantasy life in this book...

A piece of TRAILER TRASH WRITTEN by a piece of trailer trash. They'd laugh him right off the stage...Simon Cowell would give him a choice "review" of his "talent"....And WHY do you think a guy like Elvis would wait for someone like Priscilla? He didn't wait. He was a babe magnet. He had a whole entourage of woman drooling over him, and he's gonna "wait" for some 13 year old? Priscilla knew exactly what she needed to do to keep the guy. And it DIDN'T involve Tiddly Winks.. This book is PURE FICTION. If you expect ME or ANYONE ELSE to BELIEVE this garbage, you have some serious problems!!

I'm not sure that I liked this book.

It was definitely worth reading. But I didn't enjoy reading it. Elvis came across as a spoiled child and someone who could be cruel and heartless at times and I didn't like that at all.
Left me with a lot of unanswered questions and doubts.

Ok so I read a lot of the reviews people left when I was considering buying this book. I almost did not buy it, because of the reviews reviews. First let me say I adore Elvis, I grew up with his music, and everytime I hear his songs they put me in a good mood. So I just have to say that after reading the book I loved it!

I think people are too hard on Priscilla. This book is called Elvis and me not Lets talk about me.... ggsshh come on so what if she brushed over her affairs, people want to know what Elvis was like not her. Its her side, And I really do believe they loved each other very much.

Who are we to sit here and judge her or him or their bond. So yes it shows Elvis was intresting and odd..very odd but hey thats what made him him. And as for her parents... well I wouldnt agree with what they decided but I dont believe they were out to get his money!
So go on its a good book!!!

For those who create their own servers using emulators such as RunUO, and hope to capture an old-school feel, this book is very useful at getting all the old stats and such down. Otherwise, its very out of date, and about 7 expansions behind...use only as a reference for a pre UO:R server, or to catch up on old times.

Ultima Online is dificult at first, it isn't really laid out for you like most MMOs, you just kinda do your own thing. Especially if you use UOgateway free survers it can be harder. At first I had trouble controlling my character. This book helped a lot, with maps and such. It's not essential, but if you need a push in the right direction I recommend it.

Hard to believe over two years has passed since UO came out. I got UO when it first came out, and this book was a great source of reference and info. Unfortunatly, nothing good lasts, and this is especially true of Ultima Online, where patches make much of the information here obselete. Oh well, a good memoir to keep of of the old times. If anyone has any questions or would like to reply, please send to Renryu@Hotmail.com thx.

My friend Ed and I bought this book after a fine purchase of the game itself. After being PKed and loosing everything we work so hard to get in the adventurous game of UO, we decided this book may be are one and only answer. Well it was! It told us everything we needed to know! We read and read our brains out until school was long forgotten. Even good old Mr. N couldn't save us. My friend and I were feeling like UO masters until... a new client patch came and changed everthing around in the game, so the book had all wrong and old dated information. That is why I gave this book 3 stars. It is a well developed book to give you help in the game but since Ultima Online constanly uses patches to change everything (in there view for the better), the book becomes a useless puchase. Right now the book has only map use that is acurate with the game.

This is a great book for those JUST STARTING OUT on FFXI, much of the information from Fall of '03 still works with the current incarnation of FFXI, however, due to the ever-changing nature of FFXI, it will be out of date sometime next year. The job guidelines are great, and it's really geared to the new player. A good buy for any wanting to know a bit more about the game, but don't expect everything in here. There's a level 50 Cutoff on spells, equipment, and information in general (the game currently goes up to level 75) My copy has gotten much use, and I still break it out once in a while. ^_^

This book is not even in print anymore. There are three expansion packs out now. This book only covers the first one (Rise of the Zilart) and does not cover Chains of Promathia or Treasures of Aht Urghan at all. It is useful to newbs who are trying to find their way around the game, but there is nothing in this book that cannot be found on the internet if you just search for it. There are numerous sites that contain much more useful information (Such as allakhazam) but the problem with them is that the way this game is written, you cannot Alt-tab out of it to view another web page. Once you are in the game, you have to exit it to access any other programs on your pc (I play pc version exclusively....this doesn't apply to PS2 or X-Box players).

because online games such as these change on a regular basis, this particular book is out of date as a newer version has been issued. also since there is another expansion for teh final fantasy 11 game called Chains of Permathia, another version, probably called fall 2004 will probably be released soon.

This guide is nothing more than a decent instruction manual for FFXI. The idea was good and if you started playing the game, let's say, back when it was first released in Japan, this so-called guide may have been helpful. But times change and so do MMORPG's. Don't get this guide unless you have a time machine so you can go back to when it would have been useful.

if you are a Mac comuter user or do not have access to a PC, don't get this book!

75% of this book requires that you have a Windows PC to follow the disk and makes the book completely useless it you have a MAC.
I bought this book online, and no where does it have a disclaimer saying this book is worthless if you don't have a PC.

This book is more of an info-mercial for Wilsons Turbo Poker.

I wasted my money on this book.
It would have been nice if the author had at least framed the Q&A so you didn't need the Disk to follow what he was talking about.

I'd give it a zero if I could!

I've purchased 5 poker books in the past few months and this is by far the poorest. It's Texas Holdem section doesnt go beyond pre-flop play - literally! No advice on what to do after flop, on turn, at river. It comes with a free CD which, from what I gathered, promotes an online poker site. My guess is that they are marketing the site. No real content in book.

This book may be useful for someone that has absolutely no experience with online poker but in no way does the book seriously address how to "beat online poker games." It briefly discusses the rules of the most popular poker games and the mechanics of online play. The book is more concerned with discussing table etiquette than poker strategy. The title is very misleading.

Great for beginners and intermediate players who have want to transition from live to online play. Also servers as a good beginner's guide to limit Texas holdem. This is the most popular game being played online, at casinos, and in local card rooms. Learn this game and you can make a living anywhere in the world, online or live!

Dated but Superb Introduction to New Possibilities
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 1 total.
Review Date: 2005-12-10
I am quite surprised by the mean-spirited reviews of this book. Perhaps the individuals writing them consider themselves "gods" in cyberspace, which causes me to wonder, if they know so much, why did they buy the book in the first place?

Published in 1998, the book is certainly outdated by the phenomenal advances in interactive multi-media technology, but I never-the-less consider it a superb introduction to new possibilities.

For me, although I have some exposure to technology, this book was an eye-opener. Initially I wondered why people would spend so much time in cyberspace "avatar-acting" but then I had two "aha" experiences from the book that easily earn it five stars:

1) In a similar vein to the early work in "cyber-cafe's" where interactive audio-visual was put into gathering places for Hispanics and for Negros (and perhaps whites and Asians also, but these are the two I remember), avatars break down barriers to sincere interaction. Of course they open paths for deception as well, but the key point here is that if in cyberspace no one knows you are ugly, you can focus on substance.

2) The second "aha" experience occured when I turned this book upside down and asked myself, if we can create avatars that are imaginary, can we go the other way? Can we feed real-time real-world information into a "serious" game and go to the next level, where the public can literally "be" the President, "see" all intelligence about anything that is available to Google, and experiment with alternative behaviors, policies and investment options?

I spend a lot of time reading (#66 over-all, #1 for non-fiction about global issues) and this book was a real pleasure to read, and an extremely valuable catalyst to my thinking. Dated or not, I recommend it very highly.

Review Date: 1999-07-20
The book provided little insight or information about these virtual worlds, and completely failed to enlighten the reader as to the technology which made these worlds interesting. It provided an basic overview of the worlds, a brief history, and how to manuever around in them, however this failed to give any substance to the writting.

As the author notes in the forward, this was his first attempt at writting, and it clearly shows as entire text was written at an elementary school level. This made the reading uninteresting as well as uninformative.

For those uninitiated with the Internet, virtual worlds, or any other form technology, this might serve as a good spring board. However, if the (to be) reader is looking for anything more than a general overview, I would recommend finding a different source from which to learn.

Really, a hopelessly outdated book even at the time it was published. Mr. Damer fails to consider the online gaming community and how it is the GAMING COMMUNITY which will enable the Internet to truly become a 3D universe. A quick look at Mr. Damer's web site (www.Damer.com) also reveals how Mr. Damer just doesn't "get it"...he is still attempting to push the concept of "avatars" through his "company." Maybe Bruce should load up a copy of Counterstrike or Unreal Tournament and see what the future of "avatars" and the Internet will really be in the near future.

Cyberspace How-to and Now-what

Review Date: 1999-10-19
Bruce Damer's book is the perfect starting point for anyone wishing to take those first steps into virtual worlds. Readers can scour the text, getting a sense of what these computer spaces look like and how they function. AVATARS will give you courage and certainly peak your interest. Once you are online, the book is an excellent guide to how to maneuver, communicate and build in the various worlds.

AVATARS is an excellent how-to introduction to virtual worlds. However, it is an even better now-what discussion of the impact of virtual communication. Damer introduces questions of the place of computer communication within more traditional channels. He reassures readers that life can be enhanced through online interaction; however, he also cautions that family and friends can't be hugged through the computer.

AVATARS is an enthusiastic, informative and balanced introduction to virtual words. An excellent place to jump in with at least one foot

With all due respect to Mr. Damer, this book is basically an introduction to what Avatars and Virtual Communities are. Mr. Damer provides a guided tour of several online communities. One or more of thewe worlds no longer exist. This is another example of web-time and how difficult it is to publish a book with a technology topic. I found the book very basic. Visit his web site to learn all you need to know and be introduced to the awesome online worlds. . . and save some money.

I saw the Thomson logo at the top left on the front cover and thought it was textbook quality. I was dead wrong!! As the engineer said, the directions are incoherent and you don't even know when he has given instructions or just an example. I had to search the web for help answers just to do the "Hello World" application. There is no troubleshooting guide in case you get stuck. If you get stuck you better clear up your schedule cause you will be searching for answers for a while. Why not spend that time and buy a good book on programming. I would expect more from a programmer than this garbled mess of words.

I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone who is trying to start out in game programming. I am a grad student engineer and have been programming for over 5 years. I just recently got into game and graphics programming and this book is really terrible compared to some others I've seen. The only reason I gave it two stars is because the chapter on graphics mathematics is fairly complete, and the book provides a good high level picture of how a game is structured. However, the code specifics are downright horrible, the listings seem to be randomly thrown in without any clue as to where they should go in an actual program, the writing is boring, the directions are sparse and inchoerent, and much of the source code provided on the CD is incredibly difficult to get running (if it runs at all). Also, there is a discussion board on wazoo, but don't excpect much help. Many of the forums end with unanswered questions including many that I had. For an intro book to programming games, save your money for another book, because this book just isn't worth the cost in wasted time and money.

It's ironic that a programmer would be so terrible at giving directions. To start out with, the directions for setting up SDL (a necessary programming toolkit) were almost non-existant. Just this small task took me 8+ hours, and I had to resort to browsing web-forums!

Often the directions were so terrible that it wasn't even clear whether or not he'd just given directions for a procedure or was just providing an example. As a programmer, the author should be able to give sequential, succinct, and easily-followable directions. At this, the author, unfortunately, fails miserably.

Superb Game, Indispensible Reference Book...
Helpful Votes: 4 out of 4 total.
Review Date: 2002-06-05
Well, now that FunCom has gotten the bugs out of AO and has been developing it (patch 14.2 is going live today), I take back everything bad I ever said about it. Anarchy Online is superb and has at last begun living up to the hype and the high expectations I had of it from the beginning.

As for this book, it was pretty out of date when it was published and it has in no way kept up with the massive changes and additions to the game itself. However, despite that and that it is generally a little weak overall, the book is absolutely indispensible as a reference guide to everything from maps, to nanos, to clusters, to weapons and monsters. Yes, even much of that data is out-of-date now, but there is still rarely a session where I don't refer to the book at least once. If they published the book again with more current information, I'd definitely buy it.

Did McCubbin actually play the game???
Helpful Votes: 4 out of 11 total.
Review Date: 2001-09-27
Actually, that is beside the point. The launch of AO was horrid (second only to ww2online), and the Devs have been "balancing/nerfing/tweaking" so many things that the mechanics are almost unrecognizable at this point. For example, the Nanotech class description described them as "the master of Nanos" and "able to Solo, Group, and PvP effectively."

People who actually play this class (which turns out to be a complete gimp after level 40 of 200), have taken to fascetiously quoting the "official guide" in their signatures when posting on the funcom forums complaining about broken game mechanics.

The entire game is a joke and after building a character up to the middle-game I cancelled my subscription before they could bill my credit card. If you want accurate info about how bad it is (Funcom has started censoring their official forums before the European launch because of "too much negativity".)....

Lacking high level details

Review Date: 2001-08-18
This guide is missing some essential details that are needed for higher level characters. It only has maps of about 3 cities (it doesn't have maps for Rome, one of the largest, most populated city in the game) and it doesn't have maps of the higher level zones either.

The list of nano programs that this guide has does not include details about the higher level programs.

Overall, this guide would be strictly for a newbie, if you are passed level 20, this guide would be a waste of [money]

Well worth the money....

I'll keep this short and sweet. This book is not much more than an extended version of the game manual. However, that may not be a bad thing depending on how you look at it. Personally, I think the extra information and zone maps are worth the money.

Anywhere you look in this book at battle, they tell you to run away if your not sure you can kill it. How will you ever know if you don't try? What fun can you be if you don't take chances and get a backbone already? Sure, I've been killed by liches and reapers, but the lizard men and orcs were just as "scary" and if I ran away from them, I would never had taken the chance, I wouldn't have had as many gains in my stats and as much gold. I would get the official Prima books if I were you.

This guide is good only for people who are TOTALLY new to ANY role-playing game at all. For example, it explains that you should not attack creatures unless you know you can kill it. It had showed one person who told the book they had a 5% archery skill and decided to attack the bird only to get killed by IT! Well duh! I never even played the game, but I would know 5% archery must mean something like 5% chance to hit a immobile target, forget about a small quick flying target! The book has NO MONSTER AND ANIMAL stats at all! They're version of "stats" is something like: Orc, medium-low difficulty, carries food and little gold. I was expecting the hit points, mana, strength, ect and such. The book also has NO pictures except for the maps of dungeons and towns. The town maps are great, but the dungeon maps are not. Sure, the dungeon maps are detailed about where the paths and walls are, but nothing else like: pit trap here, and, dont step here, will kill you. I only give this book a two star for people with no role-playing experince at all, I never played the game and I still know better for most of the info. No offense to the burning heart guild though, they are gamers not writers.
