Music and Audio Books

I have been interested and involved in the "metaphysical and spiritual" world for quite some time, and I have found this tape incredibly enjoyable. It was extremely accurate, yet not to complex. Plenty of easy to understand detail. My interest in astrology is definately hightened and I have made an appointment to have my personal birth chart read. I feel sure that I will end up ordering a tape for each of my 7 brothers and sisters. It will definately make for a great conversation piece at our next family gathering. I extend my sincere gratitude and congratulations to Mr. Hill for creating an honest, well-done, and entertaining astrology series. Thank you for sharing.

Complete with two CDs this is a good primer before [or rememberance after] "Carmen." The book tells you the entire story of this Opera.

After seeing Carmen at the New York City Opera, I enjoy it again and again by listening to it and somethimes reading along with the Black Dog opera series of books with CDs.

if you want to live the entire experience of "the enjoynment of music" you really must buy the norton recordings. They complete themselves into a genuine musical experience

This is the best meditation CD I've ever bought. The sound of gongs and temple bells gives you a silence state of mind. It is very good to pratice meditation, not like other CD where there's only music. This CD gives you a feeling of being in the temple. I use it not only when I meditate, but when I need some peaceful sound especially when having a body massage. It really blank your mind and clear your thoughts. This CD sampler include 8 different recording sound for you to select which fits you the best before buying the full version. I highly recommend those who's been searching for meditation music, consider this CD.

Sara Jordan surpasses other music producers for children yet again with "Celebrate the Seasons". I've exclusively used other Sara Jordan products to reinforce concepts for early learners, children experiencing difficulty in school and in production of school musicals. Her production values are great, the songs are catchy and she provides high content, interesting activities in addition to the music. What a boon for busy teachers. I'd also highly recommend "The President's Rap"for teaching American History.

I recently purchased this wonderful songbook and tape. The entire third grade class of our elementary school performed this program on our P.T.A. night. My students and the audience loved it! I especially appreciate how the music was written to be representative of each different culture and the kids couldn't help but memorize a zillion facts that I didn't even know before. Way to go!

Like most other fiddle books, this is a collection of older fiddle tunes. The difference is, this collection reflects the music and various styles of playing on Prince Edward's Island. The tunes are based on the author's recordings of various people on the island. The thing I really like about this book (and is missing from other fiddle books) is the background information about the island, the players, and an analysis of the styles. Lots of books give you lead sheet tunes, but this book explains the musical basis of the style of playing. The author also discusses the different types of decorations players add to the melodies to give it their unique PEI interpretation. I wish other fiddle books would cover topics like this one (explaining the scales and modes the tunes are derived from, etc.).

There is a CD of recordings so that you can hear various pieces played. Only a sub set of all the tunes made it to the CD. It's a pity that recordings for all the tunes weren't included.

I checked the author's web site and it appears he has funding to continue this project with the current generation of PEI fiddlers. So look forward to an encore.

I like this book a lot and find it to be a great complement to Vol I.

For some reason I don't find much of it to be as challenging as Vol I but it's still loaded with sweet, even hauntingly beautiful songs, and the accompanying c.d. is a great addition enabling one to hear and imitate the nuances and "licks" not apparent on the written page.

This book is perfect if you have just worked your way through recorder lessons and learned all the basic notes. I used the The NEW Nine-Note Recorder Method: Easy Music for Beginners (a great method) and I was ready to start playing some melodies. This book is perfect for three reasons: (1.) most of the music is in easy keys for recorder players, (2.) it comes with a CD, which I, as a beginner, find indispensible, and (3.) what a CD! Up until now I didn't realize how a recorder could sound... the player on this CD puts so much expression into the notes, it's helped me become a much better player. My only complaint would be that the melodies are uniformly melancholy... even the cheerful ones! Perhaps that is just Celtic music for you.

This cd to my mind is extremely well put together and is easily one of the best cd's of it's kind that I have purchased in a long time. Essentially it starts you off very gently, (Laynes' voice is very calm and soothing) and evently leads you into a full walking and breathing meditation combined with the accompliments of drums to syncronise your breath to. It is very powerful. It takes a little bit of practice to sucessfully combine both walking, breathing and visualizing the chakras simultaneously but it is well worth persuing. I really love this cd as it really does unify both breath, body and mind. Would highly recommend it.
