The Assimil language courses are designed to teach conversational language skills. The learning curve is steep - these are not just "how to order a meal". They are also not a typical textbook approach. The goal seems to be to learn patterns of speech that provide wide application.

I have not completed this course, but the time I have spent on it deepened my understanding, not just my vocabulary.

The courses from this company are commonly used in Europe, and versions exist for almost any language. There clearly is a "method" to them. I haven't run into any other materials that are as helpful for self study with a goal of really being able to learn the language. I also liked the Michel Thomas CDs, but they seem to be best as a quick refresher rather than a true course.

A well-respected art historian, long at the forefront of art and technology studies, Popper is an appropriate figure to present this material. Among those who have taken the art/ science/technology interface from the fringes and into the mainstream, his expertise is vividly translated into this well-documented and comprehensive study of the paradigmatic change. Here he argues that the move toward technologically based projects, largely begun in the twentieth century, has humanized technology due to an emphasis on interactivity. It is also noteworthy that many of the artists Popper focuses on see their commitment to art in larger terms. As the book details, this brings them in touch with politics, the community, and various social dimensions. Reading through the publication is like visiting an exhibition with a smorgasbord of themes, a global sweep, and sensitivity to the personal relationship artists establish with their projects.

Those who are new to the art/science/technology discipline will find the sweeping survey offers a nice map. Those who know the terrain will no doubt learn more about groundbreaking practitioners and appreciate the wealth of detail that illuminates how we got to this point in time. From Technological to Virtual Art is a book that marks the arrival of the art/science/technology perspective and presents the work of many of the innovative people responsible for its ascendancy. I highly recommend it.

This guide is the best one to have if you want to know your Xbox 360 and Xbox Live really well. This book covers everything about the system and the hardware that goes with it. It also covers some of the new hardware coming out. This Guide is a must have to any home library.

These tapes ARE the welcome companion to the print ed. _Teach Yourself Gaelic_ (by Robertson & Taylor, c1993, 2003,) with the same "heather" cover. Becasue most Scottish Gaelic texts don't give a hint to the pronunciation, which does not resemble the spelling of the words, the tapes are a must.

Caveat: Both books _Teach yourself Gaelic_ by Robertson & Taylor, & _Gaelic_ by Roderick Mackinnon are Scottish Gaidhlig (not Irish Gaeilge.) Also Mackinnon does include pronunciation guide for each of the vocabulary words.

There are a number of approaches to the learning of a foreign language, and the Berlitz approach remains one of the best. The advantage of this approach is that it is all in the target language, in this case, German, so the learner doesn't get into the almost unbreakable habit of constantly translating back and forth between his or her native language and the second language.
Such translating severely limits acquisition of a language. This Berlitz, home study course is a series of fifty, wonderfully well planned and executed, short scenes which allow the learner to understand, think and speak the language without translation. The accompanying books (two, plus a dictionary) are also cleverly done and give one reading skills as well as the speaking skills the tapes give. There is much here for the businessperson as well as the tourist. After trying a variety of taped courses, this is the one that made the most sense to me and worked best for me.

This book is a little gem. By re-telling the well-known Cinderella story, the author makes the sometimes overused concept of personal empowerment really come to life. This book is filled with real-life examples and lots of practical ideas for getting more out of life. A must-read for everyone.

In Get Creative! The Digital Video Idea Book, Todd Stauffer & Nina Parikh effective collaborate to present an approachable, easy-to-understand, thoroughly "user friendly", and confidently recommended instructional guide showing how to create professional looking home videos, sales videos for a small business, beautiful wedding videos, even documentary or feature films. Stauffer and Parikh share all the essentials, from choosing the right camera and computer equipment to working with lighting and sound. They also discuss planning, writing, and producing the video, along with the camera, software, and editing techniques necessary for completion.

I was so nervous about applying for a loan, and this book really gave me the confidence I needed. When I walked into my bank, I knew that I was NOT going to be pushed into a corner . Get That Loan got me my loan!.....I have to thank the author, D.Donnelly, for a job well done.

This is a well put together book and down to earth software by one of my favorite music business authors.
GIGORAMA 1.0 makes sense and it gives me the tools and confidence that I've needed for so long to manage my own music career.
I've been a Gigorama user for more than a year now and was excited to learn about the book. Working the club scene in Orlando gives me renewed appreciation for what Gigorama is all about.
The chapters on "Clubs and Club Owners" and "Seeking Professional Management" are priceless.
I would recommend this book and software to anyone with a real desire to make it as a performing musician.

I received this CD set a few weeks ago and have been listening to them in the evening before I go to bed and in the morning before I get up. I must say, this is one of the best hypnosis cds I have listened to. It's truly empowering and enlightening. The message combined with the hypnosis and meditations has really stuck with me and it has been inspirational. The essence of this fabulous CD set is that you can attract good luck and you can increase by it by doing good deeds and blessing others without attachment to the outcome. Victoria Wizells' voice is very calm, relaxing and peaceful and her message is totally classic and timeless. If you want the energy of good fortune, joy and happiness, you need the right tools and listening to Victorias' CD sessions can give it to you.

I highly recommend this CD set, truly beautiful.
