Bailey's material goes well beyond PC issues and provides good understanding of various system design techniques. For exampe, his descriptions of ATM system design gives good direction on how to do design. He provides a good foundation on such important topics as human limits, human senses, memory, usability assessment, task analysis and ways to help people work better.
While this book isn't cheap, it is worth every penny (or kronor).
It is on my shelf.
Very good book..Review Date: 1998-07-20

Another winner from Wizell !Review Date: 2004-10-02
Among her many qualifications, Wizell is a master hypnotherapist and neurolinquistic programming practiioner. She uses these skills in this 2 CD pack to teach you techniques to overcome anxiety.
The focus in the 2CD set is on managing panic problems. It is hard to describe the feelings one has when they experience a panic attack. Incredible discomfort that may include thoughts of dying, fainting or having a heart attack. Sweating, palpitations, dizziness - a virtual potpourri of emotional pain for the sufferer.
Victoria suffered from panic attacks and understands what the sufferer goes through. Using her personal experiences and skills she has developed the CD's to enable the user to take back control and embrace the peace within.
The sessions teach different breathing techniques, how to eliminate hyperventilation, muscle relaxation, reframing, anchoring, anxiety as an object and positive affirmations. My favorite involved imagining a ball of golden light surging through out my body and filling me with peace and relaxation.
I did not care for the cover of the CD box. It features a woman who is anxious looking and one who is relaxed. Please next time just show the relaxed one! But its whats inside that counts and the CD's are excellent. The background music is light and calming. At the beginning of the CD when Victoria explains panic her words are a little rushed but after that her voice is perfect. Calming and relaxing. Victoria has an amazing voice that soothes and comforts and imparts confidence to the user.
Because I found the CD's so helpful I checked out Victorias' site hyptalk and found she has other CD's (not listed on Amazon) that cover other areas. Driving has been a major problem for me due to a bad experience. There is nothing like driving up the road feeling like you are going to pass out, especially when your kids are in the car. After just one session with the driving tape, I felt so much better. A wonderful difference. Though I could work through the problem with the Anxiety Relief CD's alone, the Driving Anxiety tape has given me more excellent techniques to use.
I would definately recommend you purchase and use Victoria's CD's to make incredible changes in your life!
Safe, Drug-Free, Effective Method For Neutralizing AnxietyReview Date: 2004-09-24
Fortunately, there is a safe, drug-free and effective method for neutralizing, or even eradicating, panic attacks and anxiety: hypnosis.
Certified Master Hypnotherapist Victorial Wizell of Hypnotherapy Nevada and HypTalk.com has created Hypnosis For Anxiety Relief, a 7 session program on 2 CD's. The first CD covers the nature of a panic attack, and tools and techniques to eliminate them. According to Ms. Wizell, there are three main fears that goes through a person's mind when they have a panic attack:
1. Fear of dying of a heart attack
2. Fear of dying from suffocation
3. Fear of dying from a stroke
Wizell explains what happens physiologically and biologically during a panic attack--and how, for example, it's impossible to suffocate during a panic attack because the body is actually hyper-oxygenated. In fact, she says that with deep breathing, it's impossible to have a panic attack. Wizell also discusses the flight or fight response, and how stress makes us vulnerable to a anxiety. As well, she explains the "relaxation response"--a response we can learn in order to re-train the body to feel peace and well-being.
Seven different exercises and techniques are covered in the 2 audio CD's, including diaphragmic breathing, getting rid of hyperventilation, progessive muscle relaxation, and NLP (neuro-linguistic programming). Several of these techniques are 12-15 minute hypnosis sessions on separate tracks, so you can pick and choose the technique/s that work best for you.
Two years ago, I was having low-grade anxiety attacks because of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. However, I didn't realize they were panic attacks! It wasn't until I thought I was having a heart attack that I went to the Emergency Room. When the ER doctor told me I was experiencing anxiety, I was floored. Me? Anxiety? Fortunately, the tests that he ran and the information he shared with me was enough to neutralize feelings of anxiety. Armed with information and clarity, I never had an anxiety attack again (thankfully). I wish I had the Hypnosis For Anxiety Relief series when I was going through my own bout with anxiety--especially to learn deep breathing and visualization techniques, as well as having the extra boost of Wizell's hypnotherapy.
Ms. Wizell has such a soothing, calming voice which is often coupled with the soft melody of Pachebel's Canon. Whether she's leading a hypnosis session to "anchor in peace" or neutralize anxiety by seeing it as an "object", it was very easy for me to relax and visualize. After the progressive muscle relaxation session, I was amazed at how relaxed I felt physically and how clear I was mentally. Her sessions really "bring you in the now", which is important. Most panic attacks occur because of "what ifs" that are future based--and our imaginations and worry trigger the flight or fight response as effectively as an actual threat would.
She also shares her own experiences, such as the panic attacks she used to experience while driving down the L.A. highway, as well as her extreme fear of needles. As a result, you feel comforted that she's someone who has "been there".
I highly recommend this hypnosis series by Master Hypnotherapist Victoria Wizell.

Nice SurpriseReview Date: 2001-11-24
The Fireworks section is quite extensive since all the examples rightfully are designed in or a major part of them are designed in Fireworks where they are then cut up, interactivity added (except for the Flash examples) and then exported.
The FreeHand section deals with primarily the tools that differ from Fireworks and things like perspecive, contour blends and bleneding. The blending feature allows you to do a shape tween type of effect and then use it in Fireworks for animation. Then there is extensive tips and tricks for preparing FreeHand files for use in Flash.
The Flash section is great fun and extremely useful. The entire section deals with ActionScripting projects, the author doesn't try to teach you Flash but useful ways to use it in conjunction to the other two programs. The projects such as the puzzle teaches more than it may appear on the surface. Sure, you may not need a puzzle, but it was a great way to demonstrate how to load movies that replace prior ones versus loading movies to a new level. This is just one example. There is also a jukebox that has four pieces of music (included) that uses a trick to load very quickly. A product display that rotates a full 360 degrees, a banner ad that allows you to print a brochure from within Flash and a banner ad that uses the color feature of Flash. There are more projects in this section.
Even though Dreamweaver isn't in the title of this book, it wasn't left out of the mix. There is an Appendix which takes an entire Fireworks design and places the images in DW and adds the behaviors, CSS Style Sheets in DW. There is also a section on adding FW pop-up menus in DW.
There are some great contributors that added value to this book as well. What I liked is they added VALUE not just their names. For instance, Hillman Curtis did a nice introductory piece on, "Motion is the Message" imparting some of his wisdom to us. There is also an entire interface given to us from Eyeland Studio that we can use and modify (with instructions on how)and banner ads from Figleaf Software.
All in all, I don't think you'll be disapointed in this book. I walked away with much more than I expected. This review took much longer to do than anticipated because the book is almost 500 pages (480) and is packed. Not only did I learn the strong points of each program but how to work more efficiently as well.
What a bargain - 3 for 1!Review Date: 2001-12-20
The book is divided into three sections - one for each of the programs - and projects from one program are used in the other programs. There's just enough difference between the program interfaces to confuse you, but Ms. Evans has done an excellent job in clarifying them.
I especially enjoyed the rotating fishing lure exersize in the Flash section. I've wanted to do that effect for a long time, and her explanation got me through quickly and easily.
All in all, the book really will help you if you are putting up a website and haven't done a lot of graphic work before. The integration of these three programs is important, and the author did an excellent job in teaching. I recommend it heartily!

Great reference which has good exercisesReview Date: 2006-03-01
The examples really help, for the most part they were actually interesting and sometimes funny. The exercises were good too especially on how to find Public Domain pictures and sound. I can't say that I will ever really understand copyright laws but at least I get how to use somebody else's files now.

As a researcher in dynamical systems, I found this book a very interesting introduction to neural nets.
Would like to see the section on genetic programming fleshed out even further.
