One of the best Therapy Dog books I have read! Kris Butler shares her wealth of experiences so we all can contribute, learn, and benefit from her knowledge.

The book covers everything from the dogs, patients, health care professionals to the organizations we work with. It also covers therapy certification organizations.

Being a small therapy dog owner and reading about their special needs and outlook of the world, really acknowledged their "special gifts and our obligation" to them as therapy dogs.

I would recommend this book to anyone considering therapy dog work or an experienced therapy dog team.

A must read for active therapy teams

I can not thank Kris Butler enough for writing this book. I have been a very active dog therapy visiter this last year and visits were going very well until I started visiting a behavior health unit at a local hospital. My boxer dog became very stressed and I was very concerned. After reading Therapy Dogs Today, I became very proactive in how I did my visits to these BH units from what I had learned from this book. The very first visit after reading this book, I could not be happier about how my dog responded to the visit. Once I understood how stressful this environment was for my dog and what were the stressors, I was than able to work on reducing these stressors. Both my dog and I thank you Kris!

A great practical guide for therapy dogs

Kris has provided us with great new insight and tips into our work with therapy dogs. The examples are wonderful - and in my mind one of the best parts is on her discussion of social proximity and how important it is to understand this in ALL of our visits. A job well done!!! A must read

The authors have come up with a very unique, intelligent, and efficient approach to bodybuilding. The concepts and routine presented is pretty simple for the most part, and that's the beauty of it.

As others have said, yes, it's a pretty intense program - but if you have the discipline and motivation to follow through with it, it'll certainly pay off for you.

I would suggest this program for people who are at least intermediate or advanced in their training experience and knowledge.

To anyone who is interested in the difference between this program and the previous book, "Big Beyond Belief" - I believe that they are both equally as effective, but this program is a little more efficient.

I've been using Big Beyond Belief (BBB aka Serious Growth III) for several years with excellent results. I recently ordered Titan Training Manual. (BTW. Amazon, you should check the spelling. It's Manual and NOT Manuel. You will probably sell more if you fix the typo.)

You've heard of the old saying "Great things come in small packages." This book fits that description. It's only 79 pages, and the first 33 pages are basically a review of BBB. That means that the last half of this book is geared towards Serious Growth IV. But don't think it's another marketing scheme to sell another product. Leo and his crew put a lot of thoughts into this program. When I first read BBB many years ago, I thought it was unconventional in its approach to bodybuilding. The concept of micro-periodization was foreign to me. But what the heck, the program works, and that's all that matters, right? Titan, on the other hand, is taking bodybuilding to the next level. 4 times a week and that's it. You may think that 4 times a week seems to be crossing the threshold of undertraining - and that's the beauty of it from an efficiency standpoint. Moreover, the concept of micro-periodization has taken another leap in Titan. The three-week ramp plus the three week supergrowth phase (you know what I'm talking about if you have BBB) has been compressed into a one-week phase. Finally, the concept of base and volume training and muscle rounds are introduced in this book. All I can say is that guy Leo is a bodybuilding genius, man.

It's difficult to write a review on bodybuilding books for the obvious fact that one has to be dedicated and disciplined, follow the manual to the T, measure the results, and then write a meaningful review. This process could take months. But as I mentioned, I am very pleased with BBB (as well as thousands of other bodybuilders), so I'm pretty sure this manual will be just as (if not more) effective. I plan to use Titan sometime in April 2008 after I finish BBB.

It's too early for me to judge the effectiveness of this program, so I will just have to come back in Fall of 2008 and submit my final review. In the meantime, keep focused, eat right, and stay away from `roids. They will shrink you wieners and give you zits the size of Texas!!

PS.

Amazon, thanks again for a great service. My book arrived within days.

UPDATED: April 28, 2008

Okay guys. I promised I was gonna come back sometime in Fall 08 to give my final review. I decided to cut it short. I started Titan on April 4, 2008. Four weeks have gone by and I am happy to report that within this period I have gained 2.40 lbs of muscle and lost 3.90 lbs of fat. I have also been on the Anabolic Diet since February 28, 2008. And if you must know, I have lost a total of 11 lbs of fat and gained 3.6 lbs of muscle since February 28. (I was on BBB prior to starting Titan on April 4.)

So there you have it. I am maintaining the original "5 stars" I had initially rated. In all honesty, I wonder if the fat loss and muscle gained I had achieved came from the Anabolic Diet, BBB, Titan, or a little bit of everything. I also wonder if I had gotten same (or even better) results with a different training program. Nevertheless, I am happy with what I have achieved. I am cutting Titan short because I have decided to start going for the mass phase. I will be using Optimum Anabolics as my training and diet template. Hope this review helps in any way. Good luck to all my fellow muscleheads:)

PS. The workout was efficient but brutal! Keep an eye on your diet, and make sure you get ample rest. Otherwise, you could overtrain.

I've always been a real dedicated lifter. i started a cutting diet and didn't do some things right(cardio 3 times a day, ouch!) This stupid mistake brought my strength down on all lifts tremendously. I bought Titan Training Manual and within 5 days of working out with it, my strength has nearly returned. I went from benching 220 for 10 reps to 240 for 9 reps at a bodyweight of 168. that's the most i've ever seen in that short a time. I'd recommend this book to anyone who is in bodybuilding or powerlifting, or if you're just looking to stun you workout buddy.

I was on Leo's Big Beyond Belief program for nearly two years and couldn't believe the difference it made. I switched to the Titan Training and Behold! I found something even better. The program is difficult in its intensity, but it only takes 45 minutes four days per week. You will be amazed!
In response to Matt Robert's question in his "review" about what is the difference between the two programs - You dunce! Buy the book and find out the difference. But I'll give you a hint: 45 mintues 4 x a week.

This book was very informative, easy to read with associating pictures. I especially liked how chapters 6 through 11 were broken into lesson plans (e.g.) Chapter Six, Lesson Plan:Week #1. Chapter 3, Recognizing Canine Calming Signals was very interesting. Twelve calming signals were introduced by the author in a manner that was easy to understand. I can see how this chapter is essential for training and observing other canines. I highly recommend this book for training your dog. No canine owner should be without it.

I found this book to be extremely helpful and easy to read with "down to earth" information and examples. To reinforce the information, there are also very helpful "homework" assignments that are easy to incorporate into a very hectic schedule. Results were obvious within the first two weeks - my puppy suddenly started listening and responding just the way I wanted him to! THANK YOU!!!

This book helps you think the way the dog thinks and is very helpful from that point of view. I would recommend this book for anyone who ownes a dog-----especially a puppy!!!!!!

I will recommend this book highly. I purchased it, followed its stategies and did all the practice examinations. I have just received my Postal Service "Notice of Rating." My rating: 100.00. Now if that isn't testimonial I don't know what is. I must share that the actual Postal testing session I participated in had about 60 people. After the exam, EVERYONE claimed to have finished about 1/2 of the first 2 sections. I completed 92/95 and 85/88 questions on each section. Frankly, I blew this test away. Buy this book and good luck to you.

I strongly suggest that if you are taking a postal exam, this should be the ONLY book to use to get prepared. This guide teaches you the best strategies to use for the postal exams. More importantly these strategies are also very easy to learn so you can pass the test with a 90%-100% score. The book also includes practice tests and are set up so that they are exactly like the ones on the postal tests. This book also has a catalog of accessories to help a person get ready for the test that includes FREE LIVE SUPPORT.

Other books do not even come close. This is the ultimate Postal exam study guide & workbook!

I took this test years ago and going to re take it, so I thought I would get a book to help me study. This book is awesome. It wasn't around in the 80's when I took it the first time. Anyway, it teaches you short cuts to save time and gain speed, which you definately have to have. This is a must have if you plan on taking the postal exam. I just wish I could get my hands on some more pencils as my son and I are both planning on taking this together.

I've read most of the postal exam books currently out and I've come to a conclusion: This is the only one you need. This book got me up to speed on the matching section, taught me to get through the memory section with minimal tears, and also gave plenty of practice with the listening and pattern sections (although those sections aren't nearly as hard as the memory section, it's good to know what you're up against before you go in for the test.)

I didn't buy the entire kit - if you have the extra money, go for it, but it isn't necessary. However, it *is* necessary to time yourself when you do the practice tests. That's the only way you'll know what kind of pacing you're dealing with.

If you're preparing to take the postal exam, buy this book. I scored 100% on my test (no veteran's pts) and had a job within five months.

Highly recommended!!!

I purchased this and another comprehensive Postal exam prep guide. I received the other exam guide first and started their study program. When T.W. Parnell's-"Postal Exam Training" guide arrived, I quickly saw that it was much more current, (last copywrite-2000); the strategies provided were superior. This guide is also much better organized than the other Exam Guide I purchased. T.W. Parnell's Postal Exam Training guide is the one to buy.

The variety of sensitive issues that psychotherapists must deal with are addressed in this stimulating book. In a respectful context, the authors challenge us to address a variety of topics that are almost never discussed in training, supervision, or consultation study groups among psychotherapists. This reading provides a wealth of topics and guidelines for thinking through issues such as, what to do during a psychotherapy session when we feel distracted, annoyed, drowsy or sexually aroused? What to do when personal values differ significantly from those of our clients/patients? Many more interesting taboo topics are addressed! I am recommending that my feminist therapy study group read this book for discussion!

This is the MOST PRACTICAL book on boundaries and ethics I have read in any language. It is an ideal text for professional training programs in psychology or other mental health fields. But it is also something one could use to guide practicing clinicians and/or plan inservice training. Last but not least, for the consumer who is wondering what "the rules are," this is far easier to understand than an ethics code. Nothing available in the professional literature can match this contribution by three widely acknowledged leaders in the field who have provided a virtual cornucopia of useful guidance. They cover many vital things including some rarely discussed. It's worth many times its price. This is the first book I think which could actually be used as a text in a professional training program which is seeking to truly cover the realities of the practice that their students face in the future.

This book certainly raises lots of issues not covered in school and provides a logical and ethical methodology to thinking through, however the book falls short of suggested resolutions that the therapist may entertain. The book is well written and clearly laid out but I was left feeling many "endings" were left off. I am faced with decision trees that involve ethics daily in my practise but I would like to have some insight into what my colleagues decision trees look like. I can always raise the ethical questions myself. Overall good reading but not a book I would reference. The book would be good reading for group discussion.

Thank you, Dr. Pope, for courageously writing about taboos in therapy!

In graduate training, we are trained to follow ethical principles, but discussions are limited. Students and professors seem afraid to openly discuss the taboo topics, like therapist feelings of fear, anger, hatred, and sexual attraction. This book provides the context for open, respectful, and insightful discussions in graduate-level ethics courses. Thank you, Dr. Pope!

A great book to learn why Jobs = slavery and Self-employed = Freedom and that it's your choice as to which direction you go. And why. And what to do about it.

A great book with a simple idea that most Americans never realize.

I've been free from a job for years now. I just wish I'd had this book to read when I got out of college. I would have started my action plan to freedom sooner. Now I help others "plan their escape" by consulting them on how to become free by starting their own business. If I weren't there to guide them, I'd toss 'em this book instead.

This book was written back in 1996 and boy didn't Hedges call it right? Many of those people who hung their hopes on a J-O-B now find themselves out of work and attacked Hedges for this book and it's predecessor, "Who Stole The American Dream", are probably wishin they had listened to Hedges instead of attacking him.The very popular Rich Dad series of books is interestingly sending out the same message only to a larger audience---you must go from employee to self employed if you want to succeed. The best and fairest boss that you will ever have is the one you see every morning in the mirror.I also recommend "Who Stole The American Dream", "Cash Flow Quadrant", "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" and "Wave 4."

If you're always right, something MUST be wrong. This idea makes me laugh because it's accurate and we don't hear it enough! Especially from the people we most need to hear it from--our leaders and anyone in a position of power (bosses, teachers, lovers). It is rare to hear wisdom that is full of humanity--that we are not superior humanoids (and if we were superior, it wouldn't make us more effective communicators). This book is spunky, alert, dynamic, and reminds me how to be real, say YES and take a step forward in challenging situations.

Two weeks ago I attended a six hour seminar facilitated by Christina--with a three hour break to take my grandkids to the circus (something most speakers would abhor, but Christina was supportive) . This book distills nicely the content of her seminar.
A week ago I conducted a class at the Great West Truck Show in Las Vegas on the basics of the freight brokerage business. The sponsoring organization didn't require advance registration so I was unsure of the number of participants, their level of experience, or their expectations for the 45 minute class--and I'm not a regular presenter or speaker. So I prepared an outline and used what I learned from Christina and just made a connection with the audience--I'd expected 30-40 people over the three days and ended up with close to 200. I "killed" the seminar, was overjoyed by the rapt attention I received, and even happier that it lead to several requests for consulting proposals. I highly recommend this book. You can read it through, or bounce from chapter to chapter. However you get there, you'll be surprised by the message here. I know Christina (and anyone who puts pen to paper or voice to ideas) will appreciate this quote from Ray Bradbury, "You have to know how to accept rejection and reject acceptance."

I am turning 50 this year. I have played hockey all my life, and had managed until about a year ago to get by just on instinct and natural quickness. But then I started getting nagging injuries, none too serious but they kept me from enjoying myself. Early this Spring, as I stood there savoring a victory in our league playoff finals--we Won the "Cup" (with my son as a team mate--quite an experience), I could not help but notice how much it had taken out of me--I would not be able to go on much longer like this.

So, it finally gelled in my head that my goal was to play, really play, til I was 60, and began reading and motivating myself, and looked for a trainer. When I found his website, www.GetFitWithRich.com, his picture was SO inspiring (go look for yourself--this guy is in his mid-50s!).

In four months working with Rich, I have lost about 25# of fat (and added about 10# of muscle), lost about 4" in my waist, and already pretty much have my body back. Now I can already set a goal much higher than I started out with, which was basically to get where I am already.

This book encapsulates his method. If you're not lucky enough to work with Rich personally, this is the next best thing.

Last September I started a new medication with a side effect of weight gain (25 lbs.)! I tried everything to drop the weight, but was getting nowhere fast! I have been weened off the medication by my physician & have been using Rich's Food Card System. His simple explanation & easy to use food card system helps me to chose the appropriate foods to eat each day. I get plenty of food & eat SIX times a day. I lost 7 lbs. my FIRST WEEK! For me, a food card/food log works best. I highly recommend this book!

Anyone who may ever encounter a dog should read this book. Everyone should. Janine Adams brings up issues often ignored by many first-time dog owners, and reminds long-time dog owners that there are many ways to handle dogs and their problems, some more effective than others, and some more radical than others. Ms. Adams' writing is refreshingly clear and open, and she touches on just about all the issues from housebreaking and puppyhood to letting go in the end, and everything in-between. This is an easy-to-read book that can serve as simple reference for everyone. You can read it straight through, or in a few sittings, or you can refer to a chapter at a time as you see fit. You should read this book. Your dog will thank you. Everyone should read this book, it's really that good!

This is a profound, one-and-done reference for a new dog person, whether he or she is rescuing an adult, adopting a puppy or dogsitting for a friend. Without qualification, I think it should replace a book with monks as a primary reference tool. Experienced dog guardians will also enjoy this as a refresher or for a new way of looking at conventional training methods.

... good, effective book on basic trouble shooting ...

The author draws on her own experience with 2 poodles ... as well, as the training & trouble solving methods of other trainers ... this approach alone makes the book rather unusual and refreshing ... too many writers believe that theirs is the best or only way ...

Contains sound sensible advice, adopts gentle training methods ... with interesting chapters on dog nutrition and medication/inoculations that take an alternative (holistic?) approach ... worth considering ...

Oh ... and don't let the number `25' fool you ... the author covers almost all the issues commonly faced by dog owners everywhere ...

This book is very clearly written, well organinsed and makes for easy reading ... useful for all dog owners ... very good for first time dog owners ...

Janine Adams talent is that she can make her books relevant to everyman. This book isn't for trainers, or for breeders, or people with pedigreed dogs - but for the ordinary dog lover. Anyone who wants a dog to share their life should pick up this book and read it cover to cover. If you already have a dog - what are you waiting for?? Get this book - it's a great Christmas gift!

Excellent book! Dianna Podmoroff's book "365 Ways to Motivate and Reward Your Employees Every Day: With Little or No Money" is a must have more every organization. I would recommend this book to everyone in management. As someone who has to watch the bottom line very closely in my company I found that Dianna's book has several excellent ideas to tap into peoples feeling of being acknowledged and rewarded. I have already passed this book on to my Executive Team for us to get started on some of Dianna's great ideas.

This book will motivate you as much as it motivates your employees!

'365 Ways to Motivate and Reward Your Employees Every Day--With Little or No Money' is a terrific book for all managers and business owners. This book teaches you how to think like an employee, rather than thinking like a big wig. Then it gives you all the suggestions you need to motivate your employees and keep them motivated for an infinite amount of time. And that last part is really the key to this book. You don't want to motivate your employees for a day or a week. You want to keep them motivated for as long as they work for you.

I enjoyed reading the parts of the book that explained the importance of motivation, but I was even more impressed by all of the great techniques. This book is written in a fun, easy manner that made me excited to get to the `good stuff.' The gift ideas are all very clever (like supplying morning coffee for a year) and so are the suggestions on how to make the office fun (like adding a "Whine Cellar"). I especially liked all of the ideas on how to give employees time off of work, because it honestly never even crossed my mind to reward productivity with down time.

Overall, I think this is a terrific book and I can't wait to implement these ideas in my workplace. If you are a business owner or manager, I strongly recommend that you read this book. Even if you only follow a few of the suggestions, I think your company is bound to improve.

This is one of those books where you expected one thing and are pleasantly surprised to receive something else. Well, not entirely something else, there certainly is a list of 322 (not 365!) ways to motivate your employees, but that's the last half of the book. The first half is a great business book on motivation and the necessity to create a motivational work environment.

In fact, I found the fist half of the book more interesting than the second half and I say that without knocking the second half whatsoever. 365 covers motivational theory, internal and external motivational factors, management methods and also provides a series of motivational questions to ask employees and new hires to ensure you are able to provide the best motivational environment for their needs.

The second half of 365 covers a number of easy-to-do motivational rewards. While most businesses won't be able to do all of them there are a number of cheap and easy ideas that every business should implement. Not stopping with their own list, the book concludes with a monthly calendar of special days that will allow you to make your own motivational rewards.

Regardless of your work environment, every company can use a few motivational tips. 365 provides 322 of them and a framework to create hundreds more of your own. This is a book that won't be put on my bookshelf, but will remain close by as a reference for things I can do to reward my employees.
