No need to buy a ticket to France.....this book takes you there in ways only MFK Fisher and possibly Richard Olney managed.
I loved it and continue to mine its rich vein of recipes. It seems extraordinary that an American could so truly and sensitively
capture the culture of France.

Beautiful pictures, wonderful recipes, and a nice note or two with picture of Ava's famous Father. You can see that a lot
of time and effort went into this book.

I love Babette Cole books. She writes irreverent poetry and has it beautifully illustrated in a scatty sketchy way that is
just right. There are moral lessons in here for children, but they are presented with energy, passion, fun and verve. Fun
for adults to read and for children to listen.
For kids, there is a reading age here of around 7.

Original take on wedding planning

The months leading up to a wedding are not only exhilarating, they're often anxiety-inducing. It's a shame when the logistics
take precedence over all else, so that the bride is often the least likely to enjoy the occasion. This book aims to counter
that trend by offering numerous suggestions for achieving balance before, during, and after the big day. While the first
part of the book covers health issues and birth control options, the rest of the book tackles issues rarely touched on in
wedding planning tomes: changing identity, extended family feuds, how to integrate your work and your friends into your new
married life, stepparenting, balancing two religions under one roof, and making your marriage stronger. Interspersed throughout
are "Wedding Wisdom" quotes from brides. Could there be a better bridal shower gift?

This book has loads of information and is very easy to read. The author uses humor to emphasize pertinent information. You
will enjoy reading the entire book, even the sections that don't pertain to the Bar Mitzvah you are planning. Well worth
the time to read.

Heart-touching book that portrays Mexican Amer. urban life

I love this book. This is real literature that Mexican/Mexican American children can relate to; Not only children with Mexican
backgrounds, but immigrant children overall. My favorite part is page 10 where Jose stares at the mural painted by the Salvadoran
painter (Salvadoran struggles are rarely depicted in literature). This book moved me so much that I am motivated to visit
Mission District, San Francisco to experience that beautiful atmosphere first hand.

When I decided to start entertaining professional colleagues in our home, I needed help FAST!I found it in this wonderful
book which is full of creative and impressive meals. There are a variety of menus for a variety of situations; including
"stand and nibble" entertaining, celebrations and holidays, buffets, sit-down dinners, brunches, and even outdoor entertaining.
A section called Mixed-up Menus creates even more menus from those already laid out. The recipes use readily available ingredients
and are not time-intensive. All are simple enough for a beginner like me (step-by-step with timetables, and illustrated)
but sophisticated enough to make me look good! This book has been a real life-saver.

Good Children are Always Kind to Their Guests

This is one of Joy Berry's "Survival Series for Kids" books and I have to confess that my son Devon and I like them all. I've
had them in storage for years, way before Devon was a twinkle in my eye, or my gal Sara's, and I'm glad I saved them.
In this book Ms. Berry and illustrator Bartholomew, with your help of course, will show your toddler, or slightly older child, that it's important of be kind to their guests. That they should never ask someone to stay over, without asking Mom or Dad first. That they should never ask Mom or Dad in front of the other child, thus possibly embarrassing him or her. And especially that they should never be like Randy Rude, a rude little boy in the story who is not kind to his guests.
Though this book was written over twenty years ago, it still stands up. The excellent comic book type illustrations will keep your child interested as you read along with him or her. And for the life of me I don't know why these books are not easier to get. Joy Berry is good for children, that's my opinion and I'm sticking to it. If you can get a hold of her books and share them with your child, you'll both be better for it.

Covers everything that needs to be said, without holding back at all! May not be all welcome advice initially, but a little
thought will show just how valid all the points are. A very authoritative writing style which some may find a little offensive,
but the points need to be made; a pity more people don't consider their recipients instead of seeing netiquette as a restriction
of their freedom to be 'creative'! If I'd known just how good this book is I'd have happily paid more than double the price
to get it. Gives URLs for the author's web pages, which are likewise so good I've added the RSS feeds to my browser (Firefox)
and visit them daily. I have no reservation in recommending this work to all.
