I've bought the book partly due to the lack of available literature about SCOR - the only other resource that I'm aware of
is "Supply Chain Excellence" by Bolstorff and Rosenbaum. After reading it, I must conclude that it's actually not slight fare,
but requires a lot of concentration and focus to comprehend its content. This is, though, a compliment and speaks for the
book: It contains many different levels and degrees of depth - starting with a high-level overview about Supply Chain Management,
the role of SCOR in this context, continuing with the usage of Supply Chain performance indicators with respect to SCOR, statistical
models to evaluate the SCOR model, and ending with conclusions how to improve the model, combined with leading-edge approaches
(value-based models, Adaptive Supply Chains, etc.).
Based on the structure of the book - from more general and basic to very specific and advanced - I can recommend it for people who don't know SCOR and are interested in a first introduction, as well as for experts who are already very familiar with the model. And based on the content and style - it's written by an expert with a subject-related Ph.D. who is also a long-term practitioner - I can recommend it for people who work in academics, as well as practitioners in the field of Supply Chain Management and Logistics and those who are dealing with the application of SCOR.

I bought this book simply because there are very few books (in fact, just one that I know "Supply Chain Excellence" by Bolstorff
& Rosenbaum) that deals with the application of the SCOR model. I was disappointed for two reasons; firstly, I find it hard
to read, probably because it represents a translated version from its original text in German. Choice of words in usage could
have been better. Secondly, this is not a book about application. It is actually a scientific study into the model through
a compilation of 80 sets of hypotheses based on the model's Level 1 metrics that is gained through an empirical set of data.
Let me give you an example: In Delivery performance and fill rate, he postulates a thesis where A high on-time delivery percentage
leads to a high customer retention rate. An analysis between the two is done to see if a correlation exist. So using statistical
techniques and evaluations, the author attempts to test if the model can be considered to be "suitable and correct" to be
used in an operational context. He then suggests possible ways to improve the model. As a SCOR Model practitioner and implementor,
this work merely confirms what we practitioners already know and believe in the first place - that the SCOR Level 1 performance
measures (within a performance attribute, and across attributes) conforms to one another.
I do not recommend this book to those unfamiliar with the SCOR Model. You will also need to be familiar with advanced statistical evaluation techniques to get through the meat of this work. The scientific format and structure of the book will probably appeal to those academically or research inclined. I will keep the book only for the 72 pages of Chapter 4 that contains the statistical comparisons.

This book by Dr. Poluha, a renowned SCOR expert who has published several books about this subject in Europe, such as Spitzenleistungen
Im Supply Chain Management: Ein Praxishandbuch zur Optimierung mit SCOR, is remarkable for several reasons. First, it is dealing
with a topic which is for quite some time and even more so nowadays of high interest, namely Supply Chain Management. Next,
it is focusing on an approach which has got increasing attention in the past couple of years, namely the Supply Chain Operations
Reference model (SCOR). And finally, it fulfills both high academic and practical standards as far as content and quality
are concerned. Overall, it's highly recommendable for professionals working in the field of Logistics, Procurement or Manufacturing,
as well as students and scholars looking into the subject of Management and Industrial Engineering.

The translation from Germany to English was not so smooth that you feel as if you are reading disjointed sentences with "technical jargon" that you cannot find even in the pure subject matter Academic English.
