It's been a long time coming but my search is finally over. I have been waiting for a book of this type to come along since I was first diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. Finding contemporary medicine unable to treat the pains I suffer, I soon began seeking "alternative" medicine. I was shocked to find so little information available and it soon became a struggle to combine work and healing on my very frequent business travels. Now with Ms. Miller's book always tucked away at my desk I am sure to find a center to fill my needs. I find her guide to be accurate, concise and interesting. Her descriptive style entices me to try new places and new treatments. I wish this book had been written five years ago, it sure would have saved me a lot of time, trouble and headaches. I seriously recommend this book as a must for travel agencies with clientele looking for "alternative" vacations. They and their clients will not be disappointed.

Everything you wanted to know about holistic healing retreats, but didn't know where to look. This book was a wealth of information and helped with many of my unanswered questions.

This book really covered the gamut. I didn't realize there were any healing centers at all in the midwest! It gave the basic information I needed to plan my next healthy vacation. The write-ups had a sense of humor, also.

Thank Buddha for this most insightfull guide. Now I know where to go in order to get what I need. I feel much better just knowing that this is out there. Not only did it save me time in finding my perfect retreats it was also enjoyable to read. Ms. Miller's writting really held my interest, she is quite witty and amusing.

I was riveted from the first page until the very last few pages that were left blank for "notes."

This is the de-facto Hollywood "it" guide listing anyone that has ever been a remote fringe player with one very minor film credit to Brian "Any-Other-Good-Books-For-Me-Graydon" Grazer of Imagine Entertainment.

I must confess, I often wonderered how half these people pay their rent on a monthly basis when you look at their credits.

If you're a writer, actor, director, cinematographer, producer, editor, essentially any hollywood job that ends with an "r" then you'll want to buy a copy of this book to to know whom to avoid.

Now in its 51st edition, the Hollywood Creative Directory certainly lives up to its rubric as the "phone book to Hollywood." (Another fitting slogan might be "everything you always wanted to know about contacting everyone you always wanted to know.") The main section lists film and television companies throughout the United States, including street and email addresses, phone and FAX numbers, and the names of top executives. It also provides recent credits for each company, as well as projects that are in pre-production and development. Very useful if you are "in the biz" and need to know more about representation. You will get a great deal by buying the distribution book with it. If you are a writer/director/producer, it is good to have that extra book on hand.

This directory is the most comprehensive listing of persons and titles at almost every production company there is... I believe it is the only database of its kind. Everyone from mega-producers to full-time interns are listed, as well as their phones, faxes and addresses. An invaluable resource.

Hollywood Creative Directory is a superb compilation of Hollywood producers who can make your dreams come true by producing your screenplays. I have run the website Sgt. Mom's Place (recently partnered with Maingate.com) for approximately 4 years now and this book has been an excellent resource for me!! I constantly get requests to help someone find a lost friend or relative, others wanting the records for their father or relative from WWII, etc. I have used this book countless times to give these visitors the information needed to help them in their search. The one qualm I have with the book is the first sentence of the dust jacket's inner flap, which reads: "Sufism is the mystical dimension of Islam, and represents both a vision and a spiritual path that exists on the periphery of the main religion, yet at the same time embodies its deepest truth." This statement is strikingly at odds with the teachings of Hazrat Inayat Khan, Pir Vilayat Inayat Khan's father and teacher, who described Sufism as the essence of all religions, yet belonging to none. Khan argues Sufism is to Islam as green is to Ireland -- the color has become associated with the country, yet it would be silly to suggest that there was no green before there was Ireland.

What masterpiece could exist that does not contain one exquisite flaw?

An excellent book for all lovers of the Light! & a primer for seekers of Truth

This is an electric book. You can literally feel the currents flow out of the atmosphere Pir Vilayat book invokes.
The reader is placed in a timeless setting (ie. the imaginal plane) with the great Islamic and Sufi figures throughout time.
While sitting in the presence of these great sages, timeless, practical truths, strange utterances and sweet devotion all strike the reader's heart as if a bell is sounded.
I suggest reading this book as a form of contemplation. Any student of spirituality will find benefit in its pages.

Many books and magazines just go through the motions trying helping customers shop online, or so it seems to me. I wanted a epinion I felt I could trust that didn't seem too cynical. The selling point for me was the suprisingly colorful design. That really interests me.

My friend gave me this book because I wanted to buy a blender online, and I've used it to find so many other things since then. The reviews are really funny, and it's nice to know that somebody has already checked the sites for credit card safety.

Wow. Totally cool! I knew of all the biggies online but Internet Cool Guide: Shopping has tons of ones I didn't know about. inshop, bluefly bargains galore all available from my lap top. It's gonna make Christmas shopping a snap.

Nice book for teachers to become more proficient in using the internet in their teaching activites. Features lots of internet activities for teachers and their students in a wide range of grades. This is the fun, easy, and practical way for teachers to find out more about the internet.

I used this as a text in my professional development courses. Everyone loved it.

We just reviewed 35 books for our inservice program and chose this one. We're buying one for every teacher in the town. It's perfect for beginners and advanced teachers learning the Net.

This book allowed me to work with the interent in many areas. I have been able to locate information I did not believe existed on-line. Williams explains things in easy to understand language and then walks you through the exercise. The glossary is also very helpful for the computer neophyte. The attached CD installs Adobe Acrobat Reader and explains its many uses. I found this particularly helpful in downloading material on-line. This book is a must for any person wanting to use the Internet effectively.

This is the 4th edition and I buy it every year. It's very resourceful and saves much time from trips to the library. Very thorough and credible in the quality of links. The tiny cd travels lightly in my planner, as well.

I found the book as helpful as the telephone yellowpages in a strange town. The easy to use format leads you to the right place quickly and efficiently. I found things I didn't even know I was looking for. Excellent easy to handle guidebook.

Once again Ms. Lindell and Dr. Hersh have done excellent job...whenever I need to find something fast I just look it up, and go! This small handy pocket book is packed full of websites, for all your medical & health internet searching needs, there isn't a subject or topic that you can't find! You name it this book has it! Well laid out and easy to use and small enough to take with you! I highly recommend this excellent resource book to any health, medical, or legal professional. Great resource for students, too!

The Internet Medical & Health Searching & Sources Guidebook is an excellent reference both in cd and pocketbook form; for medical/legal professionals, students at any level, or the curious medical consumer. Directs you to reliable resources. Priced significantly below it's true value and therefore an invaluable tool in reference. User friendly and written by well accredited professionals. Excellent gift idea, as well. Two thumbs up!

I don't know how thorough or concise the first 5 editions of this resource were, but I can tell you this edition is both. I have just recently begun educating myself on the market, and started with the most recommended texts about - or by - Buffett, Lynch, Graham and others. I read the Complete Idiot's Guide to Investing that was informative. But nothing I've read thus far puts so much useful, understandable and resourceful information at your fingertips. Like the reviewer above states, there are HUNDREDS of viable links to largely free sites that cover the full spectrum of investing; from terminology and fundamental/technical analysis, to screeners, analyst ratings, quant models, governance, taxation and how to avoid scams. As mentioned, have your computer close by to bookmark these invaluable resources. Three additional chapters to the book - available online - pick up where the book left off with more advanced concepts and strategies. I can't recommend this text highly enough.

The internet is a two edged sword, and many investors have cut themselves with it. This shows investors the right way to invest with a computer.

The author starts out by building confidence in investing on-line. His eleven Getting Started points (Decide how much you can save and invest, Master the terms, Understand the difference between being an active and passive investor, etc.) set the tone for the entire book. He assumes you have never invested on-line and then shows you exactly how to do it. Not only does he explain how to invest at your computer but he also explains basic terminology (selling stock short, buying a call in options, shareholders' equity, etc.) so that you are never lost in his explanations. Thankfully, he reserves the deeper topics (Capital-gain distribution nightmare, stock splits, etc.) for the gray sidebars. The hundreds of internet addresses he provides are enough to fill anyone's bookmarks. This is the kind of book you read with your laptop so that you can check out the references and bookmark those which have meaning to you.

I started out on computers 15 years ago and loved the Dummies books. They made learning fun.
I have now moved into investing and enjoyed the cutting edge articles I read in this book. Much reading and learning is required in stock investing in order to prepare oneself for stepping onto Wall Street. This new 2008 edition of Online Investing is a big help.

This series is one of the finest references for research on Italian immigration.
Although it is only one volume from the series, it was a hard one to find.

Did not read but am interested in a book on Italians arriving in the Port of New Orleans in early 1900 or late 1800. Anything available?

If your looking for a needle in a haystack, these volumes-"Italians to America" are a must for any Italian-American geneaology buff. Fortunately, I had a death certificate that had the place of birth of my grandfather. Using the index with variations of our last name, I recorded the information and proceeded to lookup every entry. On my second trip to the public library I found the entry and all information checked out. His age, city of departure and his place of birth. My only complaint was that the editors didn't have this information on CDs. It would be a marvelous reference tool. Here's hoping that they have second thoughts about updating their next volume and replace with CDs.
