This book is absolutely dead-nuts on, explaining in plain English, so even Dilbert's pointy-eared boss can understand, the
facts and fictions and cost pressures of the typical outsourcing arrangement. As I feel when reading many of Scott Adam's
cartoons, I kept wondering when these authors had worked for my company--how did they know was going on so accurately? Their
clear explanations of figuring if an outsourcing makes any sense (MIS people are dense at financial concepts, I know I am),
but their simple charts and NPV explanations helped me through the tough parts. Chapman and Andrade know their history, and
they explain why we're all going to relive it. Read it before you have to relive it too. I'm ordering an additional copy
for my boss. (He doesn't have pointy ears--yet, anyway!)

This eight page typescript contains an enormous amount of information. And, over 60 years later, it contains a great deal
of entertainment for my British friends. It's fun to share with friends in this country as well.
"You will naturally be interested in getting to know your opposite number, the British soldier, the `Tommy' you have heard and read about. You can understand that two actions on your part will slow up the friendship - swiping his girl, and not appreciating what his army has been up against. Yes, and rubbing it in that you are better paid than he is."
On courage: "Don't be misled by the British tendency to be soft- spoken and polite. If they need to be, they can be plenty tough. The English language didn't spread across the oceans and over the mountains and jungles and swamps of the world because these people were panty-waists."
On servicewomen: "Now you understand why British soldiers respect the women in uniform. They have won the right to utmost respect. When you see a girl in khaki . . . with a bit of ribbon on her tunic - remember she didn't get it for knitting more socks than anyone else in Ipswich."
"Let this be your slogan: It is always impolite to criticize your hosts. it is militarily stupid to criticize your allies."
The advice about not criticizing your hosts is great advice for any traveler, military or civilian. I found the pamphlet an interesting bit of cultural and military history.

There's an old saying: "It is always impolite to criticize your hosts; it is militarily stupid to criticize your allies."
No kidding. Which is why, in 1942, when the Americans took up residence in Britain, a seven-page long pamphlet was distributed,
essentially to help the Yanks understand their British "cousins."
Little did they know that those seven pages, some six decades later, would be read aloud on bus routes in London as amusing historical relics for the entertainment of passengers.
Short, sweet, and hysterically funny to the modern ear, this books gives a very good view of how Americans saw the British people, both during WW2 and even now, by comparing how we saw them then to how we see them today. The book goes into everything, using clear language and astonishing detail for all its length: sports, weights and measures, monetary units, rationing. Some of the instructions bring home the fact that America was itself a drastically different place sixty years ago; some of it brings into stark relief that by the time the US entered the war, Britain had been involved for over two years already.
But perhaps what makes it so funny now is the language itself, since phrases have changed so drastically in the last sixty years, something quite ironically stated in the first few pages: "The British have phrases and colloquialisms of their own that may sound funny to you. You can make just as many boners in their eyes...."

This is truly a wonderful book. I have always maintained an interest in civil military relations, but until I read this book,
I never truly understood the importance of this topic. I am currently a student in a Graduate degree program, and I can't
express how often this book touches on our day to day studies. In fact, I can pull something from this book on almost any
topic. In fact, I think I'll recommed that our professor make it mandatory reading. I hope he'll agree!!

John Schofield was one of those young men who managed to graduate from West Point just before the start of the Civil War.
When the war began, like many others, he quickly became a general officer. Unlike many others, he retained this rank for the
rest of his very long career. He held administrative and battlefield commands during the war, was Secretary of War, superintended
West Point, and eventually became commanding general. Yet, he is almost unknown outside the circle of civil war experts and
even within that group is not a major subject of research. This book will fill that gap. It is copiously detailed and covers
every aspect of Schofield's career. The book centers on Schofield's negotiation of the politics of the military life. However,
the author provides an opbjective and appropriately critical discussion of Schofield's role in the Atlanta/Franklin/Nashville
campaigns. Schofield's personal virtues and flaws are also analyzed. As the book deals with army administration, army/congressional
relationships, and politics, it is not a quick read. However, if you are willing to devote the time needed to carefully read
this book, you will come away with a good understanding of the role of this interesting and important officer.

I was in a dilemma when I went out to buy this book. The dilemma was whether to buy this one or the Kaplan premier 2009 but
I finally decided to buy this book after some hours of time spend at the near by book store reviewing their indexes and content.
All topics of premier program of Kaplan are covered in this book except the math review which they had touch based in the appendix section . So I can easily conclude that this book is just a similar book as Kaplan premier program book just without a CD-Rom at half price.
As you all know ,Kaplan is a must for GMATtest prep along with the Official Guides so no doubt that one should get this for effective preparation.

This book contains practice question sets and 2 full-length practice exams. It does not include any comprehensive subject
review material. The review sections would make this book much better but obviously a lot more expensive. Kaplan does not
make a review book for the OAT that includes subject review because they would prefer that you take their OAT prep course
that costs over $1000. If you have other sources to use for review, this book gives you good practice questions to use to
gauge your knowledge and preparation for the OAT. Overall, decent book for the money.

The Most Comprehensive German History Trilogy

I saw Mr. Holborn's books on the shelf in a bookstore almost two years ago and I purchased Part III (1840-1945). After I
completed that, I immediately went back for the other two, working my way backward. This series has a great deal of valuable
information on German social, cultural, economic, political and military history from Roman times through the Reformation,
the Thirty Years War, Austro-Prussian rivalry from 1704-1866 for German hegemony, the Napoleonic era and the wars of the
French Revolution, the Holy Alliance and the failure of the Frankfurt Assembly, the policies of Bismarck and the forging
of the Second Reich in 1871 after victories in wars against Denmark, Austria and France and the constitution of the German
Empire. Holborn also delves deeply into the period between 1871 and the outbreak of the First World War in 1914, placing
blame squarely on German shoulders where applicable. The postwar era and the Nazi rise to power in 1933 are studied deeply
and critically, as is World War II and its immediate outcome. If you only buy one German history series, this is the one
to get.

Professor Holborn's masterful trilogy of Germany history begins with the Reformation and ends with Hitler's defeat in 1945.
There are no footnotes, endnotes, or even a bibliography as Holborn writes in the style of a nineteenth century historian
drawing upon his "life time of learning". Holborn covers every major event in modern Germany history from the Reformation
to German unification.
Holborn also gives interesting and detailed descriptions of major political and military figures. The sections on Bismarck, Gustav Stresemann, and General von Schlieffen are particularly fascinating. Holborn's commentary on who caused World War I and the effects of the German railroad system on the national character are excellent as well. Purchasing the series is highly recommended as Holborn makes reference to prior books of the series. If you are looking for a one-volume history of Germany from 1866-1945 Gordon A. Craig's "Germany, 1866-1945" is highly recommended.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas -- with the help of Bess Marvin! Bess has taken a job at Albemarle's department
store to decorate it for the holidays. When Bess's friend is accused of stealing expensive evening gowns, Nancy Drew is called
in to crack the case. This is a good paperback, but a little predictable. I'd say that the best thing about this book was
the chapter titles, like, "The Weather Outside is Frightning," "Deck the Halls," and others. But hey, it's a great book to
read at Christmas time!

few more crimes happen Nancy gets an oppertunity to join the decorating committee and then a few somethings really really
really...really dangerous happens. If you want to find out more read the book already!
In short it is an awesome book that you should have atleast some fun reading.

There are choices that affect outcomes rather than actions, but not quite so many, and while the story is full of random and senseless events and has nothing that could be described as a meaningful plot, at least the paths through it are longer and more satisfying than those in the last book. Some of the stories told in this volume are purely silly and ridiculous, but others have at least a little bit of atmosphere; in fact, when I was considerably younger, I recall being genuinely frightened by parts of the book. It's still far from being a great success, but it's not as hopelessly weak as its predecessor. From gamebooks org
