GAAP Filled

Thank god - not another Accountancy textbook that just looks pretty sitting on my shelf ! UK GAAP covers all the areas you need on a day to day basis as a student right through to director level. Approaches all the topics from different angles ; eg the rules, how they apply, the variations, and most importantly specific examples of their use in UK companies - and all in clear English. Regular updates from the publishers are sent on the latest accountancy issues and changes once you register - saves time in the library. Also recommended is the CD-Rom version for quick and easy look-ups , especially when on the move.

Where to find this? Would you read it if you could?

Hanson is like all the greats though - he could make dust mites seem like an epic encounter.

Read this man. You won't be sorry.

Great overview of Indiana Geology
Helpful Votes: 2 out of 2 total.
Review Date: 2007-10-01
"Geology of Indiana" was produced as a companion to an introductory geology course of the same name developed in the early 1990's by Dr. Hall, at the time professor at IUPUI. The text starts with a brief coverage of general geological concepts that apply to Indiana. The remainder of the text consists of a more detailed discussion of Indiana geology arranged in chapters according to five geological regions of Indiana. Each of these chapters starts with a discussion of the rocks and sedimentary deposits that define the region, followed by sections on mineral resources, fossils, topography, soils, and water resources. Also included in each chapter is a "Special Feature" that describes geological aspects unique to the area, such as caves, coral reefs, and dunes.
This text is appropriate for high school or introductory college students, as well as anyone interested in the geology of Indiana. It includes over 100 figures, tables, maps, and photographs, as well as a full index and reference list. This second edition, published in 1999, is 160 pages, comb bound, with cardstock front and back covers.

Finally! A REAL firefighter workout book!
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 1 total.
Review Date: 2008-10-15
This is a true workout book by firefighters, for firefighters.
It has several workouts that are not only career-specific, but position-specific as well. For example; "The Fire Candidate Workout" or the "Engine Company Nozzleman Workout".

This book also outlines diet and cardio workouts as well.
It even has firefighter-specific stretches (invloving the use of an apparatus as a stretching device! HA!)
It has all the details you need for the workouts!
The workouts are mainly weight-circuit type workouts that simulate live firefighting work.

The exercises employ practically every type of equipment/method (including calisthenics) except barbells. [Don't worry, there's plenty of dumbbell action.]

Most the exercises listed in the workouts have alternatives as well; e.g.: pushups vs. dumbbell bench press, or leg press vs. dumbbell squats.
There are many exercises that are directly related to firefighting duties like pushing/pulling ceiling, pulling hose, forcible entry, etc.

Don't get me wrong, these workouts will beat you up no matter how fit you are; because you can always up the weight, speed, cycles, and repititions as necessary.
These exercises will get you ripped in no time, and your muscular endurance will sky-rocket!.

A great read for those interested in the retail industry
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 1 total.
Review Date: 2007-02-26
This story is so outrageous that its sad to be true. Mr. Campeau is directly responsible for much of what we see and don't see today in the department store industry, especially industry behemoths and the disappearance of once celebrated stand-alone department stores. It is a warning for investment bankers, private equity buyers, and corporate buyers who have quickly forgotten how the excesses of the 1980s came crashing down, as well as providing a solid foundation the department store retail sub-sector. To top it off, it is a good, well written, and entertaining story.

A unique and comprehensive resource of detailed information
Helpful Votes: 3 out of 3 total.
Review Date: 2005-04-11
The Grand Army of the Republic (G.A.R.) was the first and largest of the veterans organizations of the 19th century. Comprised of survivors who served in the Union army during the American Civil War, the G.A.R. became a social, economic, and political influence in America's post-war affairs well into the early years of the 20th century. Researched, compiled, and organized by Thomas J. McCrory, Grand Army Of The Republic: Department Of Wisconsin is a unique and comprehensive resource of detailed information about Wisconsin's representation in the ranks of the G.A.R., complete with listings of officers and other leaders, rosters of the state's posts, data about membership, information on all medals and badges, and a great deal more. Simply put, no academic library's Civil Wars Studies collection in general, and no Badger State community library's Wisconsin History collection in particular, can be considered complete or comprehensive without the inclusion of Thomas McCrory's Grand Army Of The Republic: Department Of Wisconsin.
