I found this book most inspiring. Have to keep reminding myself to breathe, to live in the present, to enjoy life, and to realize that life doesn't begin when I finish this or that - I am living right now. This book got me deeply interested in Buddhist meditation.

expresses the real simplicity of life and how complexity only distracts us from the true treasures of life. at first i was a bit dissapointed as i wanted something to shout at me, jump off the page, but thich offers only truth and simplicity, essentially what we really need. his heart speaks through his words. it's a tiny book, so i spent much time with each page, contemplating, practicing, etc. i use his teachings each day.

very grateful, highly recommended. : )

Thich Nhat Hahn's writing style is inherently calming to me. Just reading his simple clear language I find my mind clearing of some of the usual noise. His message is meant to inspire and provide each of us with tools to develop the kind of inner peace that both reduces our own suffering- and thereby necessarily reduces the suffering of others. I highly recommend this book.

This is an absolutely wonderful book to help both the child with Asperger's and his friends and relatives. Not only does it explain in easy to understand language what may happen under stressful situations but how difficult situations may be successfully addressed. As Grandparent's of a 12 year old grandson with Asperger Syndrome we highly recommend this book to teachers, family, and friends.

This book is a fantastic tool to use with family, friends, school personnel and your child's classmates to help explain in very easy terms what asperger syndrome is and how others can help the person with aspergers have a happy and fulfilling life. I have read this book to my son's last three classes since he was in 2nd grade, and it has really helped the students in each class better understand him. He is well liked, much better understood when his behavior might seem "different" or "odd" to the neurotypicals in his class, and one of his classmates even told her mom she was sure Jack would never be bullied because I have read this book to his classes and everyone loves Jack. I really can't say enough about this book. I have given copies to my son's case managers, teachers, one on one aides, school library, special ed department and countless friends who also have children with aspergers. I highly recommend this book!!

This is a good book. Short and very discriptive. With good helpful tips. I have a 7 yr old but, I didn't have him read this yet. I don't think he would get it yet. But, later it will be good for him to read. It is a great tool to let teachers read to help them understand your child with Asperger Syndrome. We are new to this and it was helpful to me.

It is important to remember with any book you purchase regarding Aspergers and Autism that people on the Autism spectrum are not "cookie-cutter-cases". Each person is an individual and no book will cover ALL aspects. This book is written in a childs voice and is very easy to understand. Are you going to walk away from reading it profoundly enlightened? No. Are you going to have a more simplistic understanding of the day to day situations and life of a child with Asp? Yes. I purchased this book for my son's grandparents, his older brother and for him. It gives him a voice and something to relate too (not on all issues, but most). The book is extremely easy to read and fast. I read through the entire book in under an hour while helping my son with his homework. A great addition to your personal and lending library.

Love this! For wine there is no better tome to make you feel like you know what you're talking about. Mark Oldman is brilliant, very funny and entertaining...and iconoclastic and ironic. The book is SO WELL PACED. Before starting it, I would say I was about a 2 in knowing about wine...now I feel like I'm at 7 or 8.

This is a perfect gift for a young man who wants to get into wine. Tips are sorted into bite sized chunks, making this a good bedside read or something to keep in the briefcase on a business trip to take up that 15 minutes of dead time in your schedule.

(Too much) accessible for wine lovers.

Review Date: 2007-10-01
It is really accessible for all newcomers in the world of wine, but is quite annoying for those who already have a basic knowledge of the subject. In addition, I think that the book is not addressing the issue of wine tasting with the proper detail, and this is a great flaw for a book that is expected to guide casual drinkers into the secrets and the pleasures of wine.

Make it your first book on wine!

If you are buying your first book on wine, let it be this one. I have previously bought some other books that were advertised as aimed towards non professionals, but I found many parts of them very hard to read. Oldman's guide is worth reading, and it can awaken the love for wine in you. It is made as one or two page shortcuts which you can easily read, grab off the shelf when you feel like it or when you want to know more. This is the ultimate guide for beginners!

Fish ID "Bible"

At one time I was the head of a volunteer organization in WPB, Florida that assisted Palm Beach County with their artifical reef program. Part of the qualification was to get training in a variety of related subjects (like fish identification) sponsored by the Florida Oceanographic Society. This book served as our fish identification "bible." I no longer live in FL, but when I go diving in the Caribbean I stil take this book with me. If you need to (or just want to) know the fish of the Caribbean, buy this book.

This is a reef fish identification book. This sounds obvious, but that really is the focus here. It's not a book to teach you about fish behavior, biogeography, community ecology, or population trends. Author, diver, captain, photographer, and attorney (!) Paul Humann took most of the 670 photographs in this book, a real accomplishment for any diver, since the result of a blurred or indistinct photograph of a fish is to... go get another.

The organization of this ID book is by fish shape. He's got 12 "identification groups":

- disks and ovals (colorful)
- silvery
- sloping head and tapered body
- small ovals
- heavy body and large lips
- swim with pectoral fins, and with obvious scales
- reddish and big eyes
- small, elongated bottom-dwellers
- old-shaped bottom dwellers
- odd-shaped swimmers
- eels
- sharks and rays

Any fish watcher would see the "logic" of this organization, although it could make some ichthyologists squirm with these sets of artificial groupings.

The book is spiral-bound so that the pages, when opened, stay open. And the clay content in the paper makes it more resistant to water dripping from your wetsuit or your hair. Just make sure you wipe it off, pronto.

Now the photos... They are very high quality, and Humann is to be commended for taking, or selecting from other photographers, pictures that really pull out the details of the various fish . For example, the Sergeant Major has the delicate yellow along the base of its dorsal fin, and those frogfish must be viewed in both a camouflaged condition and in a setting where they are contrasted with the background.

Any amateur photographer will soon discover the difficulty in getting a full, close-up and lateral view of a fish. They tend to swim away from you as you get close, giving you a great view of the tail sweeping away. These photos are the result of a truly amazing amount of patience.

In an appendix, he throws in some sea turtles and dolphins or good measure, as well as a checklist for keeping track of the reader's sightings.

My ocean diving has all been in the Pacific, and it was interesting seeing species related to my own "friends." If I get the opportunity to dive in Florida, the Caribbean, or the Bahamas, this will be the book I throw in my dive bag... in a zip-lock bag, of course.

I didn't like this book at first, because it was kind of simple, and my young son didn't really like it at all.

But the other night he cut his finger and got very upset, and I grabbed this book off the dusty shelf. It calmed him immediately, and I saw its beauty. I really like it.

As a mother of a 15 month old daughter, I was looking for a book that I could read to her that would teach her that she is connected to the universe. I believe that all of our energy combined is God (for a lack of a better word)...and this book says this beautifully. I think I would have loved this book as a child as much as I do as a mother. This is my new favorite children's book after reading it to my daughter for the first time today. I almost had tears in my eyes it is so wonderfully written. I'm looking forward to giving this book as a gift to other spiritual mommy's that I know. The illustrations are lovely and kept my daughters attention the whole time. I will be reading this to her very frequently.

This is by far one of my most favorite children's books. "I am part of all I see, and all I see is part of me." Those first two pages sum it up.

The illustrations are warm, gentle, and beautiful. If you look closely you can see little elves and fairies hiding in the forest. My girls love to try and find them while we are reading.

I have given this book as a gift many times and it is always well received.

Thank you Chara for creating such a wonderful book for our evolving little ones (and their parents)!

Today even well trained actors balk at having to do Shakespeare. This book provides the tools necessary to bridge the daunting task of getting your mouth around the words and understanding what you are saying. Thanks to the authors for creating a book that captures their extensive knowledge and expertise in a user friendly volume.

Great Value in Notes as Well as Pronunciation

Beyond the pronunciation dictionary, essential to every North American actor and director of Shakespeare, the book's notes on scanning Shakespeare's verse set forth briefly in ten clear pages, not extended pedantic garble, what an actor must know, since scansion may dictate pronunciation. The additional notes on dialects, accents, Latin and other foreign languages used by Shakespeare, and the observations on differences in poetic diction in each of his plays, also have great value.

This incredibly thorough and efficient book is essential to any person who wishes to study or truly appreciate Shakespeare. I've been an actor and a student of English literature for many years, but I did not have the access to or admiration for classical works that I have gained since using Younts' and Scheeders' text.
The poetry is better this way! You need to know how to say it if you want to perform it! Actors, Directors, and Lovers of Shakespeare, GET THIS BOOK!!!

What would vintage Barbie lovers and collectors do without this and the other 2 books by Sarah Sink Eames? Without a doubt her books are the best on the market for identifying all the wonderful vintage outfits for Barbie and her family. Beautifully presented, detailed and comprehensive information. Each outfit is presented by name, stock number and years made, as well as detailed descriptions of the fabrics used and the accessories accompanying the outfits. Original outifts that came with the dolls are also shown and described. A trip down memory lane and the next best thing to owning all the wonderful outfits.

I must admit, I'm not as crazy about this book like everyone else seems to be. I gave it four stars for the beautiful photos, and descriptions.
But I think some things could be improved. The index lists everything by page number, which is fine if you're just leisurely looking through the book. But if you're looking for one particular outfit, it would be much more convenient to have an alphebetical listing. I wouldn't mind seeing the price guide broken down to include each individual accessory, since many people put together a complete set, piece by piece. But the thing that REALLY bugs me is that she almost always adds the word 'doll' after their names. For example, 'On weekends, Ken doll liked to take Barbie doll for a drive...', or 'Francie doll was excited about...'. Very annoying, to me, anyway. But, overall, it's a very good book to have.

I've loved everything I've read by the Gears and I've read just about everything they have published. Wonderful interposing of fiction onto the facts! They use their expertise as anthropologists and as story tellers to combine what really has been found about North American Indians and interpose a very believable story onto it. They really make the past come alive! The inclusion of what has really been found by anthropologists adds tremendously to the books!

This was the first one I read and I had a bit of a problem at first following there style of writing a book...but I got over that fairly quickly as things progressed and I realized what and how it was written.

These characters are absolutely endearing. Based on historical facts of the Hopewells it is a marvelous journey based on suspense, humor and the supernatural. It made me addicted and craving more of there books! Try it out, as you can see I am not the only one telling you you won't be disappointed!

It made it easy to combine a few lines from one example with a few lines from another example to create beautiful, personalized wording throughout our ceremony, from greeting to exit and every piece in between. I really appreciated that there were so many full examples with all different types of verbiage, grouped by each section of the ceremony.

Being a wedding officiate for four years, I wish I had found this book for my first wedding. This book gives it all to you. The ABC's of a Wedding. Out of all the books I have purchased over the years (now collecting dust) this is the book that stays within my reach at all times. You have just become engaged, now what, or you have been officiating for a while and need something to inspire you for the next wedding. For the engaged couple this will walk you threw the questions, answers, and things you have not thought of. It will answer the questions that everyone keeps telling you has to be done this way or that. You now have the guide to know what you want to do and not what family and friends say you should do, your wedding your way. For a new officiate or the officiate who has performed for awhile this book will help you understand things you might not have encountered before, it will give you new phrases to get the creative ideas flowing so you can create the perfect ceremony for your couples. Even if you are renewing your vows this guide will walk you threw it all. If you are a couple with children from a past relationship this book will give you all the guidance you need to include your children in your wedding ceremony, creating a family wedding ceremony. I often use post it notes on pages that I want to refer back to for future ideas that will fit a specific client. I started marking pages of Judith's book and had to stop, the pages were all posted with sticky notes. I love how this book will help me when I become stumped on a phrase or wording for a new ceremony, this book will give me the ideas and words that I need. I receive compliments all the time from guests and the couple how the ceremony wasn't a cookie cutter ceremony and it wasn't like all the other weddings they have been to. I start out with ideas and phrases, then search Judith's book to see if there is a phrase or sentence that will blend with my ideas, I always find something that is better and more inspirational for my ceremonies than the last ceremony. Everything from Religious to Non Religious. This book has given me so much that I will be able to create ceremonies for a long time to come.
Thank You Judith for such a Complete wedding guide. I recommend it to all future Brides and Grooms at our first meeting. It is a great resource for them to know what questions to ask, it gives them a piece of mind knowing this is the only book they need to buy, this is the number one guide to a wedding.

The book has been very helpful. It has everything one needs to plan a great wedding.

I highly recommend this book for anyone planning a wedding. It takes one through each step of the wedding and write the ceremony. The Wedding Ceremony Planner is a must for those arranging their own weddings.

This book was extremely helpful to my husband and I as we planned our wedding. When we decided to get married, we knew that we didn't want a church wedding, but beyond that, we weren't sure what we DID want. We didn't even know where to begin. I found this book, and it immediately put my mind at ease that we'd be able to create a beautiful, personalized wedding.

The book itself is logically laid out and simple to use. And the various writings provide a wide range of styles and tastes. Working from the book, my now-husband and I mixed and matched, edited and rearranged, deleted and added, and ultimately came up with a ceremony that truly spoke to who we are and who we hope to become together. The word "elegant" was used by many guests to describe the ceremony.

There is a particularly useful section on "special circumstances," such as children from previous marriages, friendship circles, ethnic traditions, etc. My husband has a six-year-old son from his first marriage; we always knew he was going to be the ring bearer, but we didn't have any other ideas of how to incorporate him into the ceremony. When we read the "special circumstances" chapter, we found exactly what we wanted to say. It expressed perfectly how I feel about my stepson, and how we all felt about becoming a family. It was the highlight of the ceremony, and I don't think anyone in the audience survived without crying!

I would highly recommend this book to any couple who wants to write their own ceremony, or to any officiant who is new to the field.

great book if you are writing your own ceremony!

Great book, really useful! We didn't have a "real" officiant who did weddings a lot so we wrote our own ceremony using this book. Lots of options with different ceremony aspects which was great. There are no readings in here, however, which would have made it 5star.
