I can't believe I had so much fun reading this book. The "Dan Gookin Teaches" series is now one of my favorites. I honestly wasn't too thrilled about having to learn Windows ME, but Mr. Gookin changed my mind. I feel like a Windows ME expert now because of the great tricks and tips shared in this book. Learn Flash Today, The Deke McClelland Way
Helpful Votes: 4 out of 7 total.
Review Date: 2001-06-11
This may be one of the best, and no doubt the most useful, books I have ever read. When I first ordered this book I envisioned myself learning how to make stickmen wave, make poorly drawn cartoon dogs wag their tales or a small car bobble along a highway. I could not have been more wrong. I never would have thought that in just a few short months I would become an advanced Macromedia Flash designer. From making short action cartoons, to in-depth site intros for my friends, I feel there is no limit on what I can achieve.

The book starts off slow, making it very easy to pick up, even for the most basic of users. The pace soon quickens as you learn the ins and outs of flash programming. At no point while reading this book did I feel overwhelmed or that the book was moving to fast. Even through the more complicated sections I felt comfortable.

I would recommend this book to anybody looking to get into Flash programming, regardless of skill or ability. This book gets a perfect 5 out of 5 stars. Keep up the good work Deke McClelland, and keep supplying us with quality entertainment Amazon. Thank you.

Outstanding Practitioner's Guide
Helpful Votes: 2 out of 2 total.
Review Date: 2002-02-21
This is one of the nmost readable treatments of the subect of EPSS I've come across. Designed as a practitioner's guide, it also provides an introduction for business executives and decision-makers to orient them to what EPSS can, and cannot be expected to accomplish.

All fundamental technologies of EPSS are describe in plain English, followed by implications for instructional designers and performance technologists who will be defining functionality, information architecture, navigational and interface designs and assessment of applications. Sample code and design templates, along with over 3-dozen planning and implementation job-aids, and a side-by-side comparison of development tools and technologies make this an invaluable addition to one's library.

I wrote this book
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 3 total.
Review Date: 2007-07-15
I wrote this book as a reaction to the way chip design is evolving. My hope is to give designers a new way to think about the design and development of very large ICs. The current design style, based on using manually coded Verilog or VHDL to describe an entire chip is failing, because the technique was created nearly 20 years ago to describe chips more than 100 times smaller than today's devices. This book proposes a much larger use of pre-verified cores in much the same way that board designers in the 1970s and 1980s adoped large blocks (then called LSI integrated circuits) for their board-level designs.

In my job, I don't need to get the nitty-gritty details of wireless technologies, I need to write reports and make suggestions for how wireless will improve our bottom line. This is the first book that puts wireless and mobile technology into a business perspective in a way that helps me make recommendations to my company.

A must-have if you do any OS/2 multimedia programming
Helpful Votes: 2 out of 2 total.
Review Date: 1997-11-25
From the developers of MMPM/2 itself, this book covers all sorts of information that you just can't get anywhere else. If you're doing any sort of OS/2 multimedia programming, even if you think you know what you're doing, you really should have this book. The one drawback is that it doesn't cover any new features in OS/2 Warp 4 like DART and the audio mixer API's.
