i used this book as my textbook for my Understanding AIDS class, a pre-requisite for the degree i'm pursuing in college.

this book is well-written, in plain terms. it gives you more then the cold, hard facts. personal stories, emotions, and the author's take on issues concerning being HIV+ and living with AIDS.

this book isn't dry at all, rather a book that really helps you think about how you can make a difference, and how to give respect and dignity to those who are living with AIDS or HIV.

I am using this for a harvard class and it is very good and should be read by everyone--HIV is still very much with us all.

This book has just enough cute stuff to keep kids interested and just enough science to make adults aware of how important it is to wash your HANDS!

As you may know from my earlier reviews, my family and I are big fans of the "Crime Through Time" series of books. The plots overall are really gripping, and the writing keeps it interesting for all ages.

"Trapped!" is the latest one I have read with my niece, and it may be the best yet. (It's hard to pick a favorite, though.) This one is a combination sci-fi and mystery novel involving art fraud aboard the futuristic Space Elevator. The story itself is great, with a driving, fast-paced plot with lots of twists and turns. What makes this series really great, I think, is the way it brings in scraps of info through sidebars and extra pages that my niece really loves. There's easy-to-understand mini-articles on everything from DNA to asteroids to John Wilkes Booth! It really connects the story line to whatever the kids might be studying in school without being distracting or too "educationsal" in the eyes of the kids. I highly recommend this book.

A wonderful "modern" book for the layman explaining the source of viruses and how viruses stress each other to produce new viruses and how they may be transmitted to us to cause new diseases.

This book presents an excellent comprehensive review of historical and current research on hepatitis C viruses. The book is expensive, but of outstanding value. Each chapter is well written by an acknowledged expert in the field and authoritative, providing valuable references to a large body of work. I am pleased to recommend this book to anyone working in viral pathogenesis, viral genomics and antiviral research, as well as infectious disease physicians and educators in virology.
