This is an excellent book. Downtown Winnipeg used to be destination of choice, mainly because of the EATON'S store and to a lesser extent, also the Hudson's Bay store a few blocks west. Up until the late 1970s a trip downtown was something special, as these stores anchored a viable business and retail district. But the expansion of the city into an urban sprawl, and with that the requisite suburban malls, gradually diminished the need/desire to head into town. Looking back, it is hard to believe that EATON'S had such a large market share and employed so many people. The implosion seemed to happen so quickly ie the downward spiral started in the 1980s when the company lost it's ability to adapt the changing North American retail trends. This book chronicles an important chapter in the history of Winnipeg.

I first saw this book in a bookstore on a trip to Winnipeg. After paging through it I found it hard to put down, but didn't purchase it at the time. A few months passed and then decided to order it from amazon.

The author goes deep into the facility and also the entire city of Winnipeg. This is an excellent history of Eaton's. I recommend it not only for the local Manitobans but anyone into history and culture.

It is amazing that a book this small can contain recipes that are so great. Everything I have made has been simple to prepare but absolutely delicious. Nothing fancy here. Just the things you grew up with, but better!

This is a collection of cartoons from the best of the best of college cartoonists and is wonderfully funny. It proves how much talent has yet to be tapped in the cartoon world. I imagine many of these will be the cartoonists of our years to come!!

These strips are the best of the best. It's good to know there are such creative young people out there, it makes growing older look inviting.

There's no missing Lori Oliwenstein's delightfully accessible style in this fun and informative book about the wonders of the human body and the amazing challenges it faces in its day-to-day task of staying alive. Great for armchair scientists of any age.

When I first saw R. Winston, on the BBC TV show, I thought "this guy doesn't look superhuman", at least not in the sense that everyone would give to the word superhuman. And yet, this book - probably more than the tv show - explains precisely why modern Medicine makes us super-beings, not by turning us into some kind of X-men, but rather by using our natural body response to injuries or diseases and by boosting and helping our immune system. This book opened my eyes on this medicine at the opposite of ER tv shows. Great book !

Involved with Tai Chi classes, this book covers the 24 form. Aside from an error in foot naming for one of the movements, the book is very visual and explanatory, however, footwork drawings can appear confusing when trying to follow by yourself. In order for true benefit, one should enroll in classes with a knowledgable instructor.

This book is clearly and concisely written for 24-movement TaiChi Short Form (Simplified TaiChi form). With very clear and step-by-step detailed photos/illustrations, this excellent book is the ultimate introduction to the world of TaiChi.

You should have this book. It contains some very good, down to earth recipes. I bought it for my wife, and she LOVES it. The magazine of the same name is published monthly and is equally as good. Great gift she (he) will enjoy, and you also benefit from the good food!!

This is a wonderfull recipe book and History storys of early Italian familys living in the old Columbus park neighborhood. This book is an excellent compilation of recipes, anecdotes and photos from Kenosha's Historical Italian past. I was swept back in time to the turn of the century and experienced the daily lives of the Italian Americans of the time. A wonderful read.

Well-researched, easy to use. Written for the classroom teacher but equally useful for the private teacher. You can either follow the book page by page, or choose and pick the amount and kind of information you want to use.
I also own the Teacher's Notes for "Mozart's Magic Fantasy" as well as "Beethoven Lives Upstairs" and "Song of the Unicorn". The amount of reasearch that went into these Notes is quite impressive. They are all wonderful resources and, in my opinion as a private teacher, worth twice the money!

This 45 minute tape tells the story of Tchaikovsky's visit to America in 1891, and how he befriends two children. It's part of the excellent Classical Kids series of tapes that introduce children to classical composers. I work as an adjunct at the University of Central Florida teaching a required course for students who will be entering the teaching profession. The text I use is "Teachers Discovering Computers".
