Helped me pass the Finance section of the CPA exam!

I sat for the May 2001 Exam and purchased the Wiley Finance volume to study from in addition to my review course. What a great investment! Unfortuantely the course alone was not helpful enough and I didn't pass the other three sections but I did ace the Finance section--thanks to the Wiley book. It gave me a clear understanding of what needed to be studied for the exam and plenty of questions. I'm sitting for the other three parts next May and I'm buying the Audit, A&R, and Business Law books to help me study. I know I'll pass this time around.

Excellent, focused and great help in passing CPA exam.

Book is very well organized (part of the detailed 4-book series from Pat Delaney, published by Wiley & Sons) and makes studying by topic easy to follow and understand. Each topic is followed by related questions, very similar to those on the actual CPA exam.

This book is more detailed than Delaney's 2 book set, and is specific to each of the 4 CPA exam sections. If you have passed some of the exam sections and need to redo one or two for whatever reason and have done ALL of the questions in the 2-book set and are looking for more detailed theory explanations, then this (or any of the other 3 in the 4-book series) book is the one to get.

Far exceeds the others (CPA Excel software, Conviser Duffy etc...) in ease of use, clarity of material and overall CPA preparation.

Overall, top marks.

"The First Book of Prom" is a great read-I couldn't put it down.

But don't let the book description above fool you. This book is in no way technical! It's a really beautiful bunch of stories, from Asking, through Prom Night and After Prom, and some Embarrassing Moments, too. But it's also more than a bunch of stories, because the stories are separated into sections, and each section has an introduction, and most of the stories also have introductions. And these intros explain this or that important aspect of prom so that as you read the story, you also start to understand how prom works and what it means.

The first time through, I read only the stories. The second time through, I read only the explanations. When I read only the explanations I suddenly saw what professor Calo has done, which is to outline what prom fundamentally is and how it works, and then spread this outline throughout the book so that each aspect of prom has plenty of stories to illustrate it. It's a wonderful way of structuring a book because you learn through enjoyment as the concepts and ideas are eased in through the stories-and the stories are pure enjoyment.

On the whole, I'd have to say that professor Calo has made a major contribution to our understanding of the teenage mind, and he has done so by explaining the mechanics of Prom. Great work, sir!

Finally, a book that's not insulting to teens!!

The stories in Dr. Calo's book are great! Some made me cry, some made me laugh out loud, and most of them made me think. And the analysis he does before the submissions are insightful and sometimes hysterical. If you like his book, you should check out his website ThePromSite.com...
Personally, I was sick of reading about "how to do your hair", or "what color to wear for your special day". Teens have real questions/concerns about their prom night, and so do their parents. And this book helps answer a lot of their questions.
Kudos to you, Dr. Calo!

This is a book to be read by everyone, not just city planners, not just ecologists, not just politicians or city administrators, but every city dweller all around the world. It is not too simple, it is not too complex; it addresses most important issues not just on the present problems of cities but, more important, on how to face them and on how to make more livable cities. It seems no one knows where urban growth is taking us or the world as a whole; no one can tell but there are tendencies that tell us we may be sailing on and into unchartered waters; the author explores several of such tendencies, maladies and possible remedies, but above all, tells us, finally, that everyone of us is responsible (and how we are and what to do) for the future of our own cities and that there are ways to overcome problems so to make cities a joy to live in the near and the not so near future.

George's Store a Memorable, Delightful Love Story

Review Date: 2000-06-25
George's Store shows us how love gives depth to our whole lives. George is a man who loves his job--waiting on the customers at his general store. When a customer walks into the store, George's eyes twinkle, and he says he will guess what they want. George delights and charms his customers with this guessing game, at which he is quite good. One day, a pretty young woman walks into the store, and George sets about trying to guess what she wants. He guesses one thing after another, and each time, the young woman says, "No." "No." "No." After George has guessed every item in his store, the pretty young woman points to him, smiles, looks him directly in the eye, and takes George completely by surprise when she declares, "George, I want you!" In short order, they are shown married and living happily with their children in back of George's beloved store. As a parent, I appreciated this very positive representation of someone with an ordinary job dedicated to making his life's work extraordinary for the pleasure of himself and his customers. I was quite impressed by the modern young woman who could confidently declare what she wanted. And I appreciated the closing images of a close knit family happily interacting with each other in the apartment behind the store. I read this story to my children when they were in pre-school and elementary school, and now, at 19 and 22, it is one of the books they remember best. Recently, my daughter was describing a young man who had charmed her with his engaging manner and imaginative wit. I told her she sounded like the woman in George's Store, and she said, "Yes! George, I want you!" This book, which is now out of print, deserves to be re-issued: it's an excellent model for today's children (and adults)in many respects.

I wish people would see that Tagore breaks the barrier of cultural appreciation. He is not only the most important Indian writer...he is one of the most important world writers. In Gitanjali, his simple lines of a lust for the unification of some divnity and him is unparalleld by anyone of anytime.

It has been a long time since I have read a novel that has such power, depth, and insight. Knowing very little about the events in the Balkans, and having lost a son myself, I picked this book up not sure what to expect. I was not let down.

Unlike other reviewers, I don't feel compelled to explain the story line or plot. You can read that for yourself. But I do feel compelled to recommend this book to anyone seeking a well-written, thought-provoking book.

Photography, foreign conflict and the power of human relationships wrapped together in a compelling story of a journalist struggling with loss in wartime Bosnia. This novel will make you think, appreciate and question before turning each page. The nature of perspective, the desire to persevere, the relationship that works...another example of McNally's genius.

This book answers hard questions regarding God and our existance in a way that is very racional. I could not find one thing that didn't have a logical explanation regarding the spiritual way of looking at things. It is bealtiful, positive, and only talks about love. It has helped me see life in a different way and respect God's work. I learned that he is in charge at all times, protecting us, and will give us eternal life. This knowledge will help you cope better with every day life issues, tragedies, etc. I hope everyone in the world would read this book and live accordingly, which will happen with time.

30 CD's 60 mystery shows from 20 different series makes this box set one hell of a collection. If you love old time radio mysteries you will relish this gem. I spent the last two months glued to my CD player being entertained. The folks at Radio Spirits have done an excellent job in collecting some of the best audio drama from years gone by and put them in this one box set. The plays here are full of chills and thrills not to mention twist endings and some are down right terrifying. There are 20 different series presented here including, "Suspense" The Sealed Book" " The Whistler" " The weird Circle" " murder at Midnight" and the list goes on. A portion of the plays here fall under the supernatural category. What was fascinating for me that a few of the stories could be argued that they were precursors of some of the most famous horror films of today. "Ghost Hunter" easily could be a precursor to "the Blair Witch Project." "On a country Road" a precursor to "Friday the 13th" I could go on. They were simply amazing to listen to. One however stands out from all the rest, though nearly all were brilliant. "Death Spins a Web" from the "The Sealed Book" series has got to be the best written suspense play I have ever heard. It was a shocker till the end. Well crafted with a tight plot. When you listen to it, you will know what I mean. Of course there are a few duds in this set but only a few. Your money will be well spent if you purchase this box set and you will have a bit of radio history in your library. This CD set is the same as "old time Radio's Greatest Mysteries" which is on cassette. There is no difference even though Amazon lists them as such. .... I hope to discover more box sets like this one. Buy it, turn off the lights and pop in the first disk. you'll soon begin to feel a shiver down your spine.

This book is great!! My older brother gave it to me after he read it (he bought it new in late 60s through scholastic book program in school)This was the first book I ever read cover to cover as I use to not like at all to read. This book helped me realize the joy of reading.I am just past 40 and still have this book. I suppose what Im trying to say is this book, the way the story unfolded, details and drama would not let me put it down. I highly recommend this book to anyone as a great read whether they like cars or not. I am a car guy always have been, will always be, but I gave this to my daughter to read one summer when she was "out of books" and she and her friends enjoyed it as well

This is one of my favorite books. Larry who is a straightA student and pianist gets a job playing at a hotel for the summer and works on the funny car, The Green Ghost, in his free time. I still don't have any clue about cars but the enthusiasm in this book is energizing. I strongly recommend getting a copy of this book.
