Clip Art Books

The clip arts provided are very basic. A lot of black & white pictures on low resolution. Better look on the net.

This is a very poor product....don't waste your money! Many letters of the alphabet are missing and also many resemble each other. They are not true vector images. Very disappointing.

Few , if any, useful designs for THIS Artist / Craftsperson ! I'm glad I bought a used copy, at a discount price.
Unattractive b/w illustrations , and many very busy all-over patterns that do not suggest "Ancient Egypt" even if they are allegedly authentic.
I wouldn't reccommend this book to anyone, there are so many better books on the same topic (such as Dover's "Egyptian Motifs", a clip-art book with crisp, sharp illustrations).

It's hard to imagine how the designs in this book would be useful. They are not very good drawings as such things go and they are not particularly representative of the Art Nouveau period.

A Dover reprint of old public domain material that perhaps should not have been revived. Save your money, there are better sources out there for animal jewelry designs.

Was very disappointed in the book, Prints were hard to see and not very clean. Even with a lot of print shop work the snowflaks were not worth the book at all. I would not recomend this book to anyone and felt like I wasted a lot of money for a large book on black and white snow flakes that showed no imagination.

This is a book of poorly traced illustrations. If I could give a no star review, I would.

Dover typically has a good level of quality... but black and white illustrations are given character by a judicious use of thicks and thins. The majority of these illustrations are one thickness, making them look flat and amateurish. I feel like I could just trace some china patterns and get the same level of quality!

Also, when they say they have "eps" artwork, what they mean is a RASTER format. It seems like a waste of disk space to have raster EPS and Tiffs. Also, the scans are relatively small... and only 600 dpi for a bitmap tif. Most commercial printers like at least 1200 dpi for bitmapped artwork.

I also got the book "Oriental Designs" and found this to be a better alternative to "Chinese Motifs and Designs." "Oriental Designs" even has some of the same artwork as "Chinese Motifs."

I'm going to try to return this book.

This "book" is marketed as "hardcover". What it really is is low quality decorated envelopes (more like paper) bound in a decorated cardboard cover. The quality is poor. This is definitely something you could make on your own and it would be nicer!

This book is a total ripp off. The CD does not even include all the images in the book. NOt only that, the images are rediculously small. One would think that there will as big as the book or your monitor. Instead, they are about 4" by 6".

Put your hard earned money somewhere else!

I bought this book on the strength of the cover illustration on the Amazon website. The cover shows very clear images that would be very useful if they had the quality that is shown there. However, the illustrations in the book are quite blurry (they were reproduced from a book published in 1925 in France), and the images on the CD-ROM are only a little better. These probably can be touched up in GIMP or Photoshop, and they might be useful for purposes of studying the composition of images on Japanese textiles if you have no other sources.

The images included are of cranes, roosters, flowers, leaves, plum blossoms, lobsters, fish, butterflies, monkeys, human figures, cloudes and abstract images. Some of the images are photos of brocades; others are of printed or painted fabrics.

The book is filled with beautiful geometric patterns but I can't figure out how to create them.
