A funny, extremely useful book for businesses of all sizes.

This book was fun to read and was filled with good suggestions and ideas for using software I already had to do just about everything I need to do in my office. I had no idea that I could create my own business cards in Word, or all the stuff I can do with PowerPoint to make presentations. The chapters on marketing were great, and I also really enjoyed the first couple of chapters on buying computers and software - I learned a lot. I recommend this book to anyone with an office, and to both large and small businesses. There are great tips for saving time and money, and everyone needs to do that these days! I'll definitely buy any book that Laurie Ulrich writes, certainly anything on business and software topics, she really knows her stuff.

Thank you Deitel & Deitel!

As the person who was in charge of implementing the switch from Pascal to Java in our introductory course, I would like to personally thank the Deitels for their erudite scholarship and writing. Their book and multimedia package in my mind (this review is personal opinion and cannot be construed as an official opinion of department, school nor university) is the solution to the problem of the Java language training. I can personally attest to individual students who told me that their grades improved from a C to a B because they listened to my advice and reviewed lectures using the multimedia CD-rom. I was amazed at how EVERYONE that I saw brought their book to class and we had a lecture hall of 164 students (times three!). Java appears daunting to many at first but with Deitel & Deitel in the classroom, everything becomes manageable.

Good educational text

This text was used at a local community college. As a student, I found it an excellent tool for learning Access. Beware that this version is geared for Windows 3.1 and is difficult to use in any Windows version above that. So if you are still in the dark ages, by all means get this text. You won't be disappointed.

This book is a great book for people who are just beginning to use an integrated business office application or who are making the transition from another business application to the Microsoft Office Suite. It can be used as a self-paced tutorial or as a textbook for full or half semester Computer Literacy classes. A CD is provided that provides the student or instructor with data files that can be used to facilitate learning and avoid the tedious task of simply entering data. I rate it five stars.

Just as the title describes, this book hits the mark

In her typically superb fashion, Sue has crafted an indispensable reference that digs into the internals of Outlook. A few topics discussed: How Outlook stores data, User Profiles, PRF files (what are those? Buy the book to find out) security, and more.

One of the things that really stood out to me in this book was the Appendixes where you'll find details on policy settings, outlook registry settings and even how to disable various portions of the Outlook user interface.

Another excellent resource is chapter 5 that deals with Exchange connectivity. Outlook has steadily added new ways to talk to Exchange, all with their own set of Pro's and Con's. Personally, I think many companies have overlooked some of the options. Sue will help you navigate the various options and pick the right way to connect to Exchange.

This book gives a deep insight into the Borland Object Windows Library. It covers a large number of items which are not covered in the Borland C++ 5.02 manuals. Highly recommendable for OWL programmers. Written in a nice style and also a good read.

An indispensable book for Corel DRAW! 5.
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 1 total.
Review Date: 1997-04-03
I had used the Corel DRAW! 5 package for three years before buying this book (and it's companion Quick-Reference guide) and I discovered techniques and functions which I had never used before. I also learned of short-cuts for many of the tools I had already been using in both DRAW and PhotoPaint. I wish that this book had a little more detail on some of the other programs contained in this package (such as Ventura Publisher, and Trace), but this easily understood, humorous instruction book is more than worth it's price for the information on the two main programs (draw and paint) alone

This book is easier to follow because it has step by step pictures/instructions of what your screen should look like so you are more sure that you are on the right track.

I would definately recommend this book to someone trying to brush up/improve on their excel skills.
