Superb and succinct intro
Helpful Votes: 7 out of 7 total.

This is the best book I've read in the CodeNotes series and a superb introduction to ASP.NET. The CodeNote authors have really mastered their craft by now and it shows with this book. All major aspects of ASP.NET are covered including security, caching, web forms, and session storage. What is most impressive about this book is how well written it is, which makes it easy to digest all the new technical topics. I wouldn't recommend this book as a reference, but as a starter guide I can't imagine a quicker way to ramp up on the technology.

Quality toolkit/process for guiding organizational change.
Helpful Votes: 8 out of 8 total.
Review Date: 1999-02-26
More than a book, this is a terrific 'tool/process' in a three-ring binder, for guiding organizational change, which includes a forms disk. The authors present a systems-based approach to organizational change which is team-based. This is a field guide complete with checklists, charts, forms, graphics, criteria for choosing team members, guide to key meetings, a tracking and coordination matrix for monitoring progress, a summary of agreements, and agenda for meetings. This handbook is divided into three parts: developing the foundations for change; designing change; and implementing change. It is crafted for use by consultants, but is intended to make the organizational design methodology explicit and accessible so that clients can learn the change process and and shape it to fit their needs.

This is a powerful reference with enormous potential value, provided there is the WILL to take action and action IS taken. Of course, no consultant or book, or inpirational speaker for that matter, can make change happen; that is up to YOU, the client. It is having the will and following through-execution-that poses the ultimate challenge!

The work includes a case study, references, and additional resources. We highly recommend this book.

A great book for learning Windows 95!
Helpful Votes: 3 out of 3 total.
Review Date: 1996-09-27
As the author of this book, I really *must* recommend it to the first-time Windows 95 user. It's not a basic book about computers, but a step-by-step tutorial for those just getting used to Windows 95. It compares Windows 95 to previous versions of Windows, and to the Macintosh, so if you're familiar with those, you'll have no trouble learnign Windows 95 in no time. Tell your friends!

Excellent book for new Outlook user.

This is an excellent book for new Outlook users or for those who want to get up to speed with Outlook without the fuss. While intended for IMO mode users this book has enough information on Corporate/Workgroup mode to be of benefit to those users. I particularly like the Author's use of Integrated File Management and the emphasis on using Outlook as a "central" application. Must be the first book that has details on using WinFax Starter Edition. A good buy!

A funny, extremely useful book for businesses of all sizes.

Review Date: 1999-06-08
This book was fun to read and was filled with good suggestions and ideas for using software I already had to do just about everything I need to do in my office. I had no idea that I could create my own business cards in Word, or all the stuff I can do with PowerPoint to make presentations. The chapters on marketing were great, and I also really enjoyed the first couple of chapters on buying computers and software - I learned a lot. I recommend this book to anyone with an office, and to both large and small businesses. There are great tips for saving time and money, and everyone needs to do that these days! I'll definitely buy any book that Laurie Ulrich writes, certainly anything on business and software topics, she really knows her stuff.

Thank you Deitel & Deitel!
Helpful Votes: 7 out of 9 total.
Review Date: 2000-11-11
As the person who was in charge of implementing the switch from Pascal to Java in our introductory course, I would like to personally thank the Deitels for their erudite scholarship and writing. Their book and multimedia package in my mind (this review is personal opinion and cannot be construed as an official opinion of department, school nor university) is the solution to the problem of the Java language training. I can personally attest to individual students who told me that their grades improved from a C to a B because they listened to my advice and reviewed lectures using the multimedia CD-rom. I was amazed at how EVERYONE that I saw brought their book to class and we had a lecture hall of 164 students (times three!). Java appears daunting to many at first but with Deitel & Deitel in the classroom, everything becomes manageable.
