This is an AWESOME book; it is friendly, easy to understand and better than any stats book i have read (i've read many!). For those who are not into the math but conceptual understanding of statistics and mystified with SPSS, this IS THE BOOK FOR YOU. It saved me in a big way and helped me understand stats like never before. Thanks Dr. Babbie - may you write a similar book for multivariate stats and spss (my next challenge!).

Cole and Steen have done an excellent job in covering not just the basics, but some in-depth review of How, What and Why.

This text is designed for the network designer and support staff that desire a better understanding of not only what protocols do, but how they can be tweaked to result in better performance. This is also a core text for the MCSE 70-221.

Nice coverage on DHCP, DNS, WINS, RRAS and VPN. I've used this text for reference in my college networking classes and it is a great supplement for the cirruculum texts. This explains, in depth, what our Thompson Course Technology lightly covers.

In order for me to truly understand how things work I need to practice with a "hands-on" approach, that's why when I found this book I was pleasantly surprised at how many exercises there are included in both the book and lab manual.

The 840 page book has over 40 labs and the lab manual has another 20, giving you 60 plus labs to work with. One of the best things is the fact that since this a training kit you get to work at you own pace and go over the areas you are having trouble with until you become comfortable.

With a 120 day eval of Windows 2000 Advanced server you practice the setting up of a 2000 network, work on client/server techniques and skills, share resources, work with encryption and compression, deal with the NTFS5 file system, setup and troubleshoot active directory, set group policies, create and work with remote access.

There is also over 140 pages dealing with TCP/IP and the utilities as well as tips, tricks, screen shots and diagrams to better aide in the learning process. While made for the classroom, this book can also be used a self study guide. Overall everything seems to be included except the practice exams questions.

Three years ago, my father gave me this book on Christmas Eve when I told him that at the age of 27 I was already for a career change. I was already a CAD-man and I wanted to do more then just industrial wire frames. I was ready to take my work to new levels and other worlds. Someone in the know suggested this book to him.

I read this book that Christmas Day and agian the following weekend there after and have referred back to it ever since. It's one of my most treasured possessions, reminding me the enormous faith my father has in me. And, it's a nice resource...

This is a good book to get someone started and a refresher for 'old timers' like myself. This book in invaluable!

This book really did a good job with a right balance of concepts and examples. So far I seen the book digs into good level of details related to interoperability on XSD issues, .NET remoting vs J2EE, MSMQ vs Websphere MQ. The book also illustrates a XBikes Case Study example using Websphere application server and Microsoft .NET. You will find this book is ideal and ready to use, if you use IBM Websphere and Microsoft .NET.

This book examines in detail AJAX, not just how-to use it like many others, but how AJAX integrates with the client and server. These types of details are really great because it helps to understand not just the usage of the UpdatePanel, ScriptManager, etc but how they integrate into the current ASP.NET environment. I am making use of AJAX at my work and find the details and examples incredibly useful. The discussion of client-state was great and will no doubt be very beneficial to my future AJAX controls.

We offer PC training for legal professionals, and it's always been a job to construct legal-specific examples. Not any more. This book will save us hours of design time, is technically accurate, and has a lot of great downloads and samples available for those who adopt it.

I AM AN ENGINEERING MANAGER, NOT A FULL TIME AUTOCAD USER. I FIND THAT I CAN STILL MAKE PROFITABLE USE OF AUTOCAD LT BECAUSE USING THIS REFERENCE BOOK I CAN READILY AND EFFICIENTLY GET "UNSTUCK" WHEN I RUN INTO A PROBLEM.

I have looked at many Access tutorials, yet this book is truly exemplary. What makes this book unique is that not only is everything explained step by step, yet every step has an actual screen photo of the step. You never are lost in any of the proceedures because you can always look at the picture. In some books it was hard to find where the silly buttons where, but with this book there is always a picture of it. On an advanced level, they even go through how to set up an entire database system, also in a step by step and pictorial proceedure. I was so impressed with this book that I have gone as far as to purchase four other books from the Wrox publishing group. All of there books follow the same format and are outstanding as well. With computer books you can waste a lot of time by "getting stuck". But this book gets you past all of that. This is the finest Access tutorial on the market today.
