I recently used this book to study for the SNA Server 4 exam and found it to be very good. There are very few study guides for this exam but it will get you though with some cross referencing from some of the excellent technet artcles on this subject. A couple of sections are not as clear as they could be but overall a very good book.

The best overview of Microsoft SNA Server that I've found.

I have been supporting SNA Server for more than a year and I have been looking for a good book that covers the implementation of SNA Server that would also prepare me to take the Microsoft exam. This book does it all. It gives a good overview of the product and its uses while going into just enough depth to satisfy those of us who have to support SNA Server on a daily basis.

I was also able to easily pass the Microsoft exam just on the basis of my experience with SNA Server and this book.

Very good resource

We had already implemented SNA Server before looking into this book, but it has shown to be a valuable reference tool. SNA Server is sometimes a tough application to work with due to it's quirkiness, and Microsoft doesn't have as many people strong in supporting it as other applications. We sort of felt left out on our own before bringing in this book as a reference.

We do APPC, 3287 printing, TN3270, and straight 3270 using SNA server and this book has valuable information on each of those features. I am pretty strong in SNA since I come from an IBM shop, but for those not that confident with SNA this book seems to explain things well so you can pick it up quickly.

If you are planning an SNA Server installation or have one already and are finding support to be a little lean out there, do yourself a favor and get this book it's a great help.

This book of questions has been very useful,so far, in reviewing all the many topics in physics and dosimetry that will be needed for the certification exam. It gives you a good idea of what you really have to study more and what you really know well, as for taking the exam.

just questions and answers

i was hoping that this workbook would resemble a study guide. instead its simply a book containing questions and answers that may or may be similar to what you'll find on the dosimetry exam. this would be a great way to study for the exam. but don't expect through explainations of answers.

For very little money Microsoft provides a (1) detailed instruction manual; (2) "how to" VBScript Virtual Server introduction; and (3) planning guideline. I found the book informative, especially the concrete planning recommendations, e.g., RAM, CPU, disk, etc.

It is NOT an expert's guide to Virtual Server automation and management.

A must have for anyone doing virtualization

This book has it all. The in-depth information on Virtual Server is great, but what really sets this book apart is the guidance on how to consolidate. From identifying consolidation candidates to migration, this book will put you on the right track.

Don't miss the great tools and utilities on the companion CD either, like VMRC Plus!

Finally, a half decent MS Press title...

Not a fan of MS Press titles generally - but this one is very good...provides excellent information on how to design and deploy VS 2005 solutions, as well as nice technical 'under the hood' information. As usual the timing is odd given that Windows 2008 isnt that far off (thinking of Schurmans' LCS 2005 book)...so one wonders about the longevity of VS 2005. But still - an excellent book, and the accompanying DVD is very useful. This along with Ben Armstrongs book are all you need. 5 stars all the way....

If you think you are ready for the exam and are not sure what is going to be on the test, this is a great book. This is NOT to learn from if you do not know Microsoft Office, it is for someone who believes they know the material but don't know what they don't know.

I am a certified expert on Word 2002, and lately took a class at community college about what is new in Word 2007. I got hooked on the new Ribbon interface. I asked the teacher about any good books for the new certifications for Office 2007, and she recommended this one. This book is concise and direct. It is an excellent resource for anyone already familiar with Office who wants certification, and also great for everyone else who wants to see the features available in Office 2007.

This book is for those who already know how to use MS Office Applications, but need to either review or learn more advanced aspects of them in order to acquire business certification. It is well designed and easy to follow. A CD with practice exercises is included and very helpful. Be sure to review the system requirements before purchasing to ensure you will be able to run the CD on your computer.

I haven't taken the exams yet, so am only giving four stars!

I purchased this book in order to prepare for the MOS certification exam. It is very detailed; instructions easy to follow. Although I am an experienced Excel user, it took me a few days to go through it and complete all the exercises.
I would recommend this book to anyone. I only give it a 4 stars rating because one of the files referred to in the book and necessary to complete an exercise was omitted from the CD Rom. However it may be downloaded from the publisher website.

This book proves to be the best virtually all-encompassing prep tool for The Excel 2002 Microsoft Office Specialist Exam. That being said, you won't do it in one weekend - as the hype fallaciously proclaims - unless you're one of two things - an Excel freak or ... settling for the Core cert.

I just passed the Expert Exam today. 45 minutes for 14 multi-part questions. You need a 780/1000. It's no cakewalk, so to speak, but then again, I am an Expert. The only areas on the Expert exam where you need to get more info that aren't covered in this book are: customizing macros, subtotal options within PivotTables, and custom number formats. This book has a practice file from the CD_ROM for each and every lesson in this book - very helpful. It's very well written and comes highly recommended - I mean, we're talking Barabara Clemens.

I also agree-unless you're a study maniac, this cant be covered in one weekend. Before I started this book, I took an Excel Intermediate class, and that just started my appetite. Purchased the book, studied it for a few weeks, then after I was able to do the practice exams with no problems, I felt I was ready for the exam. I passed on the first try, and just about everything that is in the book, was on the exam...except for adding a button on the toolbar for a macro.
I also purchased the Word Step-by-Step, but I'm going back to the Word version of this book.

Not artistic? Not techno-savvy? Not a problem! Create effective, eye-catching presentations that will blow your audiences away. This is the main theme of the book which I reviewed "PowerPoint 2000 For Windows For Dummies". With the expert advice of PowerPoint pro Doug Lowe and the know-how packed inside this plain-English reference, you find out how to organize, illustrate, and deliver your ideas with maximum impact and a minimum of headaches by using PowerPoint's powerful built-in features. Whether you're preparing a slide show for a conference room, a sales presentation for your laptop, or a demo for your Web site, the tips and tricks you find inside PowerPoint 2000 For Windows For Dummies will leave your audiences clamoring for more!

This book is organized into 20 chapters beginning with a very basic to advance. PowerPoint 2000 For Windows For Dummies delivers fast and friendly advice on how to: Master the PowerPoint basics and start creating great-looking presentations today. Use PowerPoint's slide masters, templates, and macros to save time and develop a consistent look. Select a color palette that maximizes the impact of your presentations; and create graphics, tables, and charts that drive your message home. Speed up production with Tri-Pane view, the new feature that lets you toggle between slides, outlines, and notes. Dazzle your audience with clip art, sounds, video, and other cool multimedia effects. Make sure everything runs smoothly when you're broadcasting slides from your laptop. Save your presentation in HTML and post it on your Web site. Those are a very interesting topics that covered in the book with very detail of "how to". The book is also organized in a very easy way in which you can use it as a reference. For example, if you want to have sound effect in your presentation you just jump right into the chapter that discusses how to create sound for your presentation without having to go through the whole book.

I found this book very helpful. I think this book would be an excellent book for college students. I highly reccommend this book to teachers because they can teach their students how to do PowerPoint presentations by just follow step by step as to what the book says.

If you like to study the information that is going to be asked of you to pass this test, then this is your book. I recently passed the exam with a 97%, largely because of this book. The format is excellent, and the concise presentation of the course material is easily read and understood. The sample test is a very good pre-exam exercise and the fast facts review sections prep you very well. The book does contain a few obvious editing errors, yet despite that, it is one great tool to pass this exam. Buy it, read it, and knock this test down!

First let me say that this book isn't for everyone. If you haven't been in IT for at least a year or so, this book might be over your head. It is designed for experienced users as a fast way to get exam-specific knowledge. While it does contain some basic information, newbies should look to a bigger book. Personally (I've been in the business for 7 years), I thought it was great that this book skipped the basics and gets right to the heart of what you need to know to pass the exam. It contains some typos and I'm still waiting for the publisher to post errata, but that seems to be standard for certification books these days, and there weren't enough problems for me to become upset with. I passed the exam (92%) using only this book and my previous experience as preparation!

This is excellent. This review is about two years overdue. This product is a great learning tool for all the basics needed for the Network+ exam.

After passing both my A+ exams in November 2002, I used this tool non-stop for two months to study for the Network+ exam and passed it almost easily in January of 2003(about 50-60% of the test was challenging and the rest was really easy for me). I used this tool and I studied from 3 books. This made the Network+ exam as easy as it could be. (None of the questions in any study guides I reviewed actually was close to mimicking the actual test questions given on the actual exam)

With this product, you are able to customize this product so it will drill you on each of the different layers of the OSI model and the different objectives for the exam.

The Network+ exam is much harder and challenging versus the A+ exam.

I passed the Network plus exam missing only 5 questions (and one of those was an easy one I just blew) with just over two months of study after passing my A+ exams using this tool as my primary learning tool.

I wish they would make more VTC products like this one for the Server+ exam (which was much harder than the Network+ exam and A+ exams combined) as well as the Microsoft exams.

This Sybex VTC for the Network+ exam is a much better testing product and learning tool for the Network+ exam than the Sybex A+ VTC is for the A+ exam.

I used the Sybex Network+ Study Guide (by David Groth) and this Sybex Network+ Virtual Test Center to pass the Network+ test today with a 801 out of 900 (89%)! I am only 15 years old, and now I have my A+ Certification and Network+ certificaiton by just studying books!

I am really thrilled, but in reality, the study guide is what really helped me. The questions on this test center are HARD, a little too hard. Now that's good in the way that you can learn many new things from this Test Center and it includes 8 complete tests (I only did 2) which are all very challenging. If you get good at these tests, you will definitely pass the exam, but the thing is, you don't need to know how to do these exams because the real thing is MUCH EASIER! These questions are way harder than the ones on the real test, which is good in a way (if you like to feel REALLY confident), but also requires too much work getting got percentages on these tests and when you don't it brings down your self-esteem.

I used two tests from this and got a 66% and 67% (80% is passing). I then studied a little more, and before taking the real Network+ exam I took two practice ones that came with the Study Guide and got a 85% and a 89%. I then felt confident and went out for the real thing today, and got a 89%! The real test was nearly identical to the ones from the Study Guide, not the ones in this, so really all you need is just the study guide and you will do fine (don't blow your money on these hard questions unless you want to waste time learning more than you need)!

This book set me on the right path! Having had no experience with Oracle, I had study only this book, went through its practice questions and lab exercises, and in 1-1/2 month's time, I passed my first exam with flying colors! If anyone is interested in becoming a OCP for Oracle9i and want to also validate your skills in PL/SQL, this book will definitely help you pass your first test. There are some example and question errors in this books, but most are not essential, or are at least noticeable. In any case, it delivers the results and I have nothing but high regards for it.
