Lotus SmartSuite 97 is the perfect quick reference guide for anyone familiar with computers but seeking the shortcuts to this software.

This is just the type of ready handbook to keep available for anyone who likes a handy reference nearby their wook area.

Microsoft Works is an aged application, and its heyday was before the time of user-friendly help files. But the software is still good for desktop publishing, especially if you already own it or are at all familiar with it. Thanks, Mr. Cowart, for making serious desktop publishing possible without requiring expensive new software or a fancy degree in computer science.

If you learn by example rather than by formalism, get this book. This presents the material in a logical framework with LOTS OF EXAMPLES. A companion volume is "The Mathematica Handbook", also by the same two writers. I used these books extensively in grad school. I remember standing in the university bookstore for 30 min comparing the handful of books available on Mathematica and these two books won out then and now still cover the fundamentals well. I still use them in my work today.

NOTE: The volume I have only covers up to Ver 2.2, but I noticed the latest has 1997 copyright, so might now cover later versions.

I teach WordPerfect 8.0, and this was an invaluable tool for me to learn some of the more advanced features. It contains information I was unable to locate anywhere else.

I have not taken my test as of yet. However, it seems to be very helpful.

This book will give you all the information you need to pass exam 70-623. Actually, it will give you way more than that. I passed the exam easily and was even involved in an automobile accident on my way to the testing center. This shook-up West Virginian still passed the test. That gives a lot of credibility to this book. As a note to Microsoft, though they may never read this review, the exam was way too easy to be at the MCITP level. This should be an MCTS exam at best. All an easy exam like this does is make the other valid MCITP exams (like those for SQL Server, Windows Server 2008 [soon], and Windows Vista in the Enterprise) look bad.

In order to pass this exam, you will need to be able to troubleshoot the basic problems that a home user would experience. If you keep this in mind while you're reading the book and preparing for the exam, you'll do very well on the exam.

After you read through the book, take the practice exam on the CD. As you are going through the exam and thinking how easy it is, keep in mind that the exam is almost that easy too. If you know what's in this book, you will definitely pass the exam.

This book is great, it covers all topics neccesary to pass the Exam 70-646. It also include real life situations that enrich your experience as IT Professional.

In 1996 I took my first Microsoft Certification Exam, Windows 95. I was shocked, this was the exam from hell. I was among the 70% of first time takers that flunked. The company I worked for would not reimburse the cost of a failed test, so my faiure also took $100.00 out of my pocket. A friend suggested the Sybex study guide to the exam. I not only learned more than I had taking the Microsoft course, I also learned the rationale behind the way a Microsoft test is constructed. I passed the W95 exam on the retake. Since then I have used Sybex study guides for all Microsoft Certifications. In fact, I have passed exams without ever having taken the course just by using these study guides, including this one. If you are an IT professional, and need to build a portfolio of Microsoft certifications, this is the best money you will ever spend.

Passing the 70-291 examination by itself will make you a Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP). It also counts as one third of the requirements for Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) and one sixth of the way to Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE).

This book covers the 70-291 test from beginning to end. It starts with the basics of TCP/IP and goes on to the installation, supporting and troubleshooting the various networking components and services included with Windows Server 2003. It covers the other services integrated into Windows Server 2003 that will be on the test such as DHCP, DNA, Active Directory and all the rest.

The structure of the book is organized by the exam objectives. Within this structure is the information needed to pass the test along with alerts pointing out critical points, listing the key terms, pointing out problems, and exercises. Aside from being a Technical Instructor and freelance reviewer, I am also a Network Manager. I am currently involved in a migration from NT Server to 2000 Server with active directory. I found things in the book and lab manual set that are right on target with this project and at the same time I can use the experience to help study for the exam.

I found that the troubleshooting techniques and tips to most useful. Several people I know who are already Server Certified also found things in the book that provided them new ideas. As with other books in this series the exam challenges and review questions, as well as the material covered were right on with the exam objectives.

The book is setup not to teach you how to take the exam but rather to enhance you ability to work with Windows 2000 server, the exam certification is a plus that you can attain by working with the material and practicing.

Include with this book is a lab manual and cd, the lab manual has over 35 labs, again the lab manual is fine, but I would prefer it be incorporated with the book for a more fluid learning process. The cd has practice exam and for an additional $50.00 you can get over 500 more questions. Overall it has helped me out and I think it would work well for both self study as well as the classroom environment.
