Learn On Your Own

I did it by myself! By using this text and cd rom I was able to learn Microsoft Office programs with ease. There were great instructions, descriptions, explanations and exercises. I was able to review, practice and create as many times as I wanted in order to master the skills to use these programs. Of course, there is always more you can learn, but the basics are here! I recommend that you do ALL the Projects at the end of each section because each of them teaches you new skills and ways to use the program.

I am so excited about this way of learning! It is so easy and fun, you get immediate feedback, and can easily see the results of your learning. I like this book so much that I want to purchase it for my personal reference library. It is easy to find where you learned a particular skill so that you can access that information if you've forgotten how to do something.

I have learned how to write and edit a letter, make business cards, design a resume, write travel itineraries, use clip art and word art, make tables, use shading and borders, headers and footers, design letterhead, etc. And this is all in the Microsoft Word section. I am only beginning Excel and will follow with Access and Powerpoint. I will use Access to design and print a book for my students in much more efficient and easy-to-use manner.

I can't wait to learn these other three programs! Every day I am eager to come to the lab to learn more and wish I could come every day, but of course they are not open every day, so then I anxiously wait until the next day I can come in.

I will share this book information with many friends who use these programs but struggle because they have never learned how to do things the right (or easy) way. It is so rewarding to be able to do (or at least know about) all these applications. And the best part of this book is that you can go back and review any section any time you need to brush up on something. So if you don't get it all the first time around, you still have it available in a user-friendly, easy to understand and use application!

Detailed instructions and documentation for this most popular software. Page scans and screens almost every page. The best and fastest reference. Deliciously retro for computer lovers, out of print, and hard to find.

Over 702 pages! Paper is expensive, thin, so book is not heavy, however. Highly recommended.

I loved this book! It gives you step by step instructions on how to navigate through each process of brochures, letters, clip art, word art, creating balloons, captions, and the myriad of things you can do, but do not know where to find things on a computer. The book was used as a class room book for a Word Processing I class at a two year college. The CD that comes with the book has everything loaded including the clip art pictures. The CD had the letters, etc loaded and all you had to do was follow the easy step by step instructions in the accompanying book. I learned how to navigate through finding where to look for the function I needed, and how to perform a task.

I would use it if I were to be tasked with teaching a community education level course in Windows Vista

As someone who has taught over ten different community education courses in computing, I understand the reality that the success of the course is almost totally based on the quality of the instructional material. It must be clear, use step-by-step descriptions and move slow enough so that novices can follow it at an appropriate speed. This book does all of those very well. In my opinion, the amount of material is well-suited for a four-hour class.
While Vista clearly retains many of the features of the previous incarnations of Windows, there are some significant differences that will confuse some people. Therefore, this book also satisfies a significant niche in the computer training market. I would use it if I were to be tasked with teaching a community education level course in Windows Vista.

This book has been a great help in teaching me the ins and out of Word 2007. I have done one chapter a week for the past 3 weeks and I know more now then I ever knew with any other book for the Office Suite. Great information, would definitly recommend this book.
