GREAT AUTHOR POOR BINDINGReview Date: 2008-07-25
HOWEVER THE QUALITY OF THE BINDING ON THE BOOK IS THE WORSE I HAVE FOUND. I OWN ABOUT 12 BOOKS ON ELEMENTS. THIS BOOK IS FALLING APART AFTER 1 MONTH. I AM NOT HARD ON BOOKS. I AM GOING TO HAVE TO TAKE THE BOOK APART AND PUT IN A LOOSE LEAF BINDER. I ALMOST THREW IT AWAY. I WILL THINK TWICE BEFORE I BUY ANOTHER ONE FROM THIS COMPANY.

EXCELLENT professional level training the skips worthless fluffReview Date: 2008-09-30
Unlike other books, this book skips the worthless cheezy stuff that professionals
aren't likely to be interested in to begin with. This book focuses on tasks that
photographers and graphic professionals are most likely to need during post processing.
This book is simply a "must have" for those who want to get straight to the point,
without having to flip through hundreds of pages of worthless fluff, just to get the
most out of Photoshop. The book is easy to follow & well written.
#1 If you want to be able to make great composites, work with layers and masks, etc.,
on the level of someone who's trying to create a composite for a cover of say Redbook
Magazine, to be imported into InDesign or Illustrator for polishing- then THIS is your
book!
#2 If you want to remove portraits from horrible backgrounds, and engage in the common
advance post processing procedures common to professional photography, then THIS is your
book!
#3 If you just got a digital camera last week, and you're just now trying to figure out
how to work Photoshop- Get THIS book and immerse yourself. To be honest, anything less
probably a gross waste of your time in the long run as this book focuses on the tasks
that are most needed for taking your photos to a professional level.
Lastly, it is virtually IMPOSSIBLE to regret purchasing this book if you make even a
modest attempt at learning the material. Like anybook, the single most reason people
don't learn software is because they don't READ the material. People want stuff spoon
fed to them. Hint: If you make money from photography, and you don't know how to do
the things in this book, but your competitors do.. you will be at a HUGE disadvantage.
Good luck!

Kelby does it again!Review Date: 2009-01-07
So far all the books I've read by Kelby are fantastic. I own his "The Digital Photography Book" Both 1 and 2. They are must have books if you are serious about getting great digital photos.
Thanks for another great title Scott!

Lightroom 2 reviewReview Date: 2009-01-06
The author, Scott Kelby, is a master at explaining the features of this software. He is quite erudite in his explainations and this may be far more information than is necessary for the use of this product.
The text is quite useful as a reference to all the features of Lightroom and is a welcome addition to any digital library.

I've used about six Photoshop book. It's a decent book, but not a must have book. As an intermediate Photoshop user, I didn't pick up any new technique from this book. Therefore, I have exchanged this book for Linnea Dayton's Photoshop CS/CS2 Wow

Excellent bookReview Date: 2008-11-22
My only comments are that I wish there were more suggested 'guidelines' for the clarity and vibrance controls. Additionally, the last chapter on automation was excellent. I just wish that that sort of step-by-step explanation was done for more examples.
Real World ACR CS3 a usefull help to grow your skillsReview Date: 2008-09-23
A bit pricey - but worth the money.Review Date: 2008-10-04
Naturally, you will require a digital single lens reflex camera (DSLR) and start taking those pictures - saving them using the RAW option. Allied to this, you will require a suitable computer with Adobe Photoshop CS3 installed. This book is not going to teach you how to install and the basics of CS3 - so those skills will have to be mastered before you take the next step.
That next step is this book and the only way to appreciate the content is to sit down at you PC (or laptop) and start at the first page. It's a slow process but all journeys commence with the first step.
Laid out in a manner which allows the reader (user) to build on each lesson as they progress, this book is may be turgid in places but, at least you can go back and go over any point again and again until mastered.
Quite frankly, if this was the only book on the subject you ever consulted, there would be very little missing from your overall skills once the content has been digested "and" fully understood.

Real World Camera Raw Book is real gemReview Date: 2008-08-29
The first half of the book offers you the basics of the technical issues and explanations of how Camera Raw works. The second half takes you through the actual process of using these controls.
Since studying this book recently, I am now using Camera Raw to perform most of the major changes I make to my files and very little subsequent work is needed in Photoshop.

A real time saverReview Date: 2008-01-20
That rant over I must say that the book is really good. It provides insight into Adobe Bridge, actions, and other speed tactics that will definitely enhance your work flow. Photographers who shoot a lot of pix will benefit most but there is much for everyone (except, maybe, those just beginning Photoshop who may be a bit bewildered).
Recommended reading. I just wish the print on the screen shots was big enough that I didn't need a loupe to read it.

Kloskowski's Book Rocks the Houski !!!Review Date: 2006-11-17
He also touches on working with Adobe Bridge - Adobe's file browser / management / etc., software. Honestly, I'm normally not a "book" person, I usually prefer the video versions of everything. But the Photoshop CS2 Speed Clinic is written in a way that makes reading it easy and fun - I had a hard time putting it down! For the price ... It's a "must buy" for all Photoshop CS2 users!!!

Excellent but comes in 2nd to Acrobat H O T.Review Date: 2004-01-13
At any rate, if you can afford only one Adobe Acrobat 5 book, you might be better off buying Acrobat 5 Hands On Training (HOT). I recommend, though, saving up enough money to get every book on Acrobat you can, for it is the wave of the future and a must for anybody wanting to put information-interactively on the web - my term is info-tivity - and the best thing this Hypercard pioneered the process at Apple's MacIntosh.
There probably is not single more valuable software tool for making money than Acrobat and I will be upgrading to version 6 as soon as I return stateside. That's the good news - the bad is that I will likely have to upgrade my library to keep in tune with the changes in this great software.
Back now to the review - if you intend to post any video, animation or audio on the internet you simply are going to have to purchase this book.
Further, if you are going to self-publish any sort of periodical on the web, you will definitely want to download HOW NOT TO START A MAGAZINE. by B. Ann Bell. Then, go read HOW TO START A MAGAZINE, STARTING & RUNNING A SUCCESSFUL NEWSLETTER OR MAGAZINE, PUBLISH YOUR OWN MAGAZINE, GUIDEBOOK, OR WEEKLY NEWSPAPER, and PAPERLESS PUBLISHING and do a google search for the soon-to-be LJs BREAKING FREE$.
Yes, that list is long but each of these is a valuable source of information for anyone trying to make money by publishing on the internet - Bill Anderson (LJ).
Hands down, the best book on AcrobatReview Date: 2003-08-16
If you're creating complex forms or trying to master Javascript, you'll need Padova and Deubert, too. But if you're looking for ideas on how to create presentations that blow people away, this is the book to buy.
The Best out of FourReview Date: 2004-06-01
I also bought Classroom in a book by the Adobe Creative Team and it is work. I am sure over time I will derive a lot from it, but Master Class is fun. You would never know that your working because you are too busy seeing all the cool stuff you can do with Adobe 5 and how to do it.
I also bought Real World PDF with Adobe Acrobat 5 by Anita Dennis, Industrial Strength Production Techniques, and that is a book for advanced students. It explains everything clearly, and is a big benefit for explaining the details on how to fit Adobe PDF into your print production overflow.
Adobe PDF is so much more than simply converting your files. It appears simple on the outside, but when you read Adobe 5 Master Class, you will be enthralled with how much more it does. Highly recommended for beginners and advanced students.

Best way to learn Photo Shop.Review Date: 2007-08-04
I can honestly say I was quite impressed. Usually, How-To books can get you headed in the right direction but for the most part you will only go to the chapters that you are interested in. This book is different. Each session leads into the next building upon what you have already learned. The instructions are fantastic. They are clear and the visuals that accompany them are easy to see and follow. The CD provides all of the photos you work with so there is no guess work. You can stop in a session and come back a few days later without having to reread everything again. At the end of each session there is an excellent review over what you have just learned. The author definitely has a good teaching style.
I can't say enough positive about the book. If you have ever been interested in learning Photo Shop here is your perfect opportunity.
