These are my new favorite books! They get the message I've been trying to convey to my young children across, while not being preachy or too scary. The pictures help to retain a magical childhood innocence within the entire message, bringing back the simplicity of how I hope my children will view and treat our planet throughout their lifetime. At least one of these books will be in all future baby shower/young child's birthday presents that we give out.

I bought this for my 20 month old twins and they don't care for it at all. I don't either. It's just a little too touchy, feely, hippie, new agey for me. The illustrations are well done, but they honestly remind me of one of those 3D art prints that you have to stare at or squint your eyes to see the hidden unicorn or whatever. Many people also said that it helped teach their kids how to respect the earth...which I am all for, but this book really doesn't do that either. Maybe when my kids are older, I'll give it another shot. Still, the animal illustrations are very good, and I appreciate the sentiment, but overall...it doesn't cut it

Here is the story of a fourteen year old girl dealing with all the issues that many other fourteen year old girls go through. Zeises tells the story through Lara Doyle without any dead spots and lots of action. However, some of the characters seemed a little fake and unrealisitic to me. Even Lara (the main character) seemed to go overboard a few times. Even though it was cliche, I would suggest this book for any girl just now going into puberty or just now starting to read young adult fiction. It's a good starter book but for advanced readers, I wouldn't really suggest this book.

Contents under pressure by Laura M. Zeises is a really good book for teenagers ages thirteen to seventeen.

This book is really good because it is really easy to relate to. This is a good book for teens going through adolescence because they can relate to what fourteen year old Lucy is going through. Like having an older boyfriend, wondering about dating, having your older brother's pregnant girlfriend move into your room, and having a dad who's always at work instead of with his family.

After reading this book I couldn't put it down I finished it only a few hours.

Surprisingly Good Book

This is the first book I have read by Lara M. Zeises, and I was happily surprised.

The book follows fourteen-year-old Lucy Doyle as she falls in and out of friendships, battles home conflicts, and eventually gets a boyfriend. I found the story itself, quite readable and realistic.

One of the things I liked about this book was that it didn't seem to make any of the horrible and all-too-common mistakes that other books have. For instance, I hate it when main characters treat depression, mental illness, and other family problems with an almost bored tone as in "I'm so-and-so, I'm tall and skinny, have a dog, and have a mother who hasn't gotten out of bed in three weeks." Another thing I hate is when the girl/boy's situation is a my-dad-is-in-jail-my-brother-is-suicidal. "Contents Under Pressure" avoided both these problems. The situation at home was realistic and just as life-changing, and the Lucy had genuine reactions that changed over the course of the book.

You can sympathize with Lucy and all of her friends at the same time, instead of hating one person one page, and hating another the next. The same thing goes for her brother, jack, and his girlfriend, Hannah. The way she meets her future boyfriend is quirky and unique.

Overall, I definitely recommend "Contents Under Pressure."

This book is fabulous.
One of the reasons I like it is because it talked about fires, earthquake and natural disaster. Another reason is because it was near our city! The last reason I liked it is because they lost their city but still had hope. I learned some exellent facts. I learned the fire burned 28,000 buildings! They had half a millon people there. The earthquake was called "The Great Shake". It was one of the biggest earthquakes ever! I would recommend this book for three reasons. The characters are fun. Jack likes the realistic and Annie likes the magic. The second reason is the excitement and learning wonderful facts.
Earthquake in the Early Morning is a excellent book.

My 1st grader hates to put it down, he would rather read Magic Tree House books, than play video games. He even reads them to his class and explains the story for show and tell. In his kindergarten class the teacher would also let him read the Magic Tree House books out loud, not to give her a break, but to promote reading out loud. Great books!

Fantastic book for kids of all ages! I love it as much as my three-year-old grandchildren do, and every time we get this book out, they want me to read it several times. The fabulous colorful pictures are fun for the kids and for me, and are detailed enough to give us lots to talk about on each page, but not so detailed as to overwhelm young eyes. The only problem I have with Eensy-Weensy Spider is that I find it running through my mind at odd times, including when I wake in the middle of the night!

We LOVE this book. I used a few of the verses in this book to reinforce some sign language word we were teaching our daughter, and it helped her learn how to use "please" and "bed/sleepy". I totally don't know any toddler/children's rhymes, so this book has even helped me learn! We can sing along in the car now, even if I don't have the book!

This one will be a classic in your child's library.

This book is one of my sons favorites. (17 months) The illustrations are great and the authors make a cute little day-long adventure for the eensy weensy spider. The book is actually pretty long so it works well for a bedtime story. I would also suggest "The Lady with the Alligator Purse" and "Miss Mary Mack" by the same two authors. All three of these books are illustrated from a unique point of view that I think children like because they get to see things from a semi-birds view rather than their usual worms eye view.

I love this book! I always loved how Elmer was so colorful and different and how he always made the other elephants happy and laughing. Its too bad that he tried to change himself just to be like everyone else because everyone liked him the way he was. Its good that it teaches kids that you should just stay the way you are and not try to change yourself just to be like everyone else.
I gave this book 5 stars.

If you've never encountered Elmer before, you have to get this book. David McKee has a wonderful sense of humor and these books are just hysterical. Elmer, with a patchwork coat, is the jester in a herd of elephants. But, he starts to feel like the only reason they laugh at his jokes is because of how he looks. So, off he goes to roll in some gray berries to cover up his coat and when he returns to the herd, they just think he's another elephant. Without him, they just stand there, are very serious, and have no fun at all. Somehow, Elmer thinks this is funny and just has to laugh so he says "Boo" and all the elephants jump about a mile. They start laughing and wish Elmer was there to hear the joke when it starts to rain and off comes Elmer's disguise. They all laugh at his wonderful jokes and are very happy he's there. It's just a great book, very colorful and very intriguing to read. My little one just loves Elmer, so much so that I'm going to have to go to B&N and get him a stuffed Elmer and Wilbur! These are great books and are destined to become a classic.

I read this book with a few of my friends, and we had such a good time! 'Ever After' is witty, cute, and fun to read! Every teen and pre-teen should read this story about friendship and how sometimes things aren't perfect! Definately worth reading from one of the best YA authors, Rachel Vail!

this book really opened my eyes. Rachel Vail yet again captures the exact feelings of a teenage girl. The main character, Molly, is growing up and starting to learn how to deal with more serious problems like friends, boys, parents, and life in general. The ending is sad, as Molly's best friend lets her down but she grows stronger from this let down. All teenage girls can relate with Molly and what she goes through.

Definitly worth a read

I thought that this book was definitly worth a read. Rachel Vail really seemed to know what it is like to be 13 or 14 years old. It was a great book and I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because I have read books that are similar to this book but were better. However, Ever After is a book that deserves some sort of recognition. Often adults attempt to "relate" to teens and tehy fail miserably, but this book was well-written in that respect.

This made me think back to my teenage days- and I could totally relate! It describes, in great detail, things a girl feels when she's growing up; how we have the ability to obsess over the silliest things, even though they don't seem so silly at the time.
I found the book amongst one of my friends' stuff, picked it up, and literally couldn't put it down. It hooked me from the beginning. Reading this makes you feel like you're not the only [odd one] in the world, and that other people have problems, too.
I also like the fact that it wasn't "sugar-coated." The conversation between the friends sounded like how my friends and I have talked. All in all...GREAT BOOK!

This is definitly one of my favorite books I have ever read. No other author writes about teen girls as well as Rachael Vail does. This book is so true, it was like I was reading about myself. It is about a girl named Molly who is struggling with feelings, friendships, weight, family, boys, her identity, and life in general. I definetly hope you read this book (you will love it if you are anything like me!) and every other book by Rachael Vail as well. This is one of the few books I truly loved reading.

It's a great book to read to toddlers. My brother and I loved "Are You My Mother" and the "Dog" books when we were little so I thought I'd give this book to my niece. I showed it to my brother before I wrapped it, and we both laughed at the story. Two 30+ year old men laughing at a children's book. That's good comedy! PD Eastman showed such personality and story in the illustrations, they add depth to the simple words. And the premise is cute.

My daughter was especially intrigued by this book because we often talk about birds and have even watched a few build their nests outside.
It also has a good story about what birds eat....to help children envision what birds feed to their young.

Boy, is this ever cute! when a little boy puts an alligator egg in the Birds' nest, they take care of it as if it was their own. They sit on it until it hatches then when he does, they feed it constantly! It's funny watching an alligator eating all that "bird food" and still grows huge. The end is particularly nice. They decide it's time for "Junior" to learn to fly but instead, he learns to swim. Sure is a cute story - especially on caring for others. Highly recommend!

My daughter (age 7) is never "keen" to read books. When she told me she liked the "Fly Guy" books she read in class - I went and bought the series! There are 5 books, total. The stories are silly and have a fun "gross" factor that most kids would enjoy. The books have a few chapters, but they are easy readers and so it allows the kids to have a sense of accomplishment (having read a "Chapter" book), while not being too labor-intensive. I would definitely recommend them for kids that need to be "encouraged" to read.

My little girl was introduced to fly guy in Super Fly Guy! She just loved the story! Of course we had to pick up the first story!

Buzz is looking for something to catch for the Amazing Pet Show. He meets fly guy as the bump into each other. Well fly guy boinks his noise. He catches him and takes him home but nobody believes a fly can be a pet! Dad tries to get him with a flyswatter! My girl told him NO! Even at the show, the judges keep telling him a fly is not a pet! But flyguy wins them over in the end!

This book deservedly won the Theodor Geisel award as it's really easy to read and it's interesting enough to keep children interested.

Artwork is great as my girl did not get tired of the pictures!

The author has the ability to take the reader into the story and keep the reader captivated. I found that in the middle of the book I could not put it down, as I was enthralled on finding out what would take place next. The author has done the research behind the culture of the characters, and has managed to voice the humor to reflect.

I believe that this book is good for children because it explains things like sacrifice, suffering, and courage clearly. If a child reads this book, he or she will be interested because the principal character (a 13 years old) is telling the story. So, young readers can feel good witn this book, and also they learn about the true meaning of life. Finally, I would recomended that all children read this fantastic story.
