A real keeper. Warm, witty and sexy. This author is always surprising the reader with new and refreshing stories. This is one of the best books of the year. Highly recommended.

"Dangerous"...only if you spend money for it!

Wow! All three other reviewers gave this book 5 stars. I am more inclined to -5.

First, the Download Description above is not for this book, Dangerous, but rather another in Millie Criswell's series of western historical romance novels.

I did not like this book. It is totally unbelievable in regards to the time period and plot line. A greenhorn female horticulturist from Boston becomes a bounty hunter and must capture a man accused of murder so that she can collect the $500 reward and keep the home of her aunts from being forclosed by the bank. The BANKER makes it a condition of the mortgage that she capture this outlaw and bring him back for trial? What kind of right would he have for making that kind of demand? Thin plot line, very, very thin. This outlaw was an ex-Texas ranger (wrongly accused, of course) and someone with a huge amount of experience in tracking down men who didn't want to be found. What chance did she have? I'll tell you, none. The brother of the outlaw is our hero and he is still in the Rangers and is trying to get his brother first in order to clear up this mistake. On the trail he comes to a small town which reminds him of another small town where he has had a spot of trouble in the past (can you believe it? that is exactly how the author describes this scene!) so he decides to get drunk in order to forget all his troubles. A woman was pregnant but tried to say it was his baby in order to get him to marry her. He refused and now her four brothers are after him. Well, guess what, they find him. But he is so drunk that he cannot defend himself and the four men are beating him up. Wilhemina just happens to ride upon this scene and is outraged at the uneven numbers. She fights off the four (count them, four) men with her parasol and a derringer she keeps handy in her purse. How stupid can a plot get? She carries a parasol in the scabbard instead of a rifle? Just how many shots did she think that derringer held? How many shots did the author think a derringer held? Absolutely, totally, completely unbelievable!! Even in fictional life those BAD men would have just shot her and been done with it. She had already wasted one shot. What other reviewers see as humor I see as an affront to my intelligence.

I wish I could tell you that it got better. No, no. No such luck. It just went from one awful situation to another until I just had more than I could stomach. This one did not just go into my "to go" box, it was thrown in.

What a mix!

Take a sexy, macho, steel willed Texas Ranger and pair with a pretty, free thinking, ahead-of-her-time feminist, throw them together and what you have is one dynamic duo! In the second book of Millie Criswells series ("Desperate" was the first), she has Ethan Bodine in search of his brother Rafe who is wanted on a murder charge. Ethan loves his brother, but being a Ranger to the very depths of his soul, he knows he has to bring him in. He meets up with a female bounty hunter with the unlikely nickname of "Willy" who is just as determined as Ethan to find the fugitive. She's not an experienced bounty hunter, she's just badly in need of money and finds the possiblity of bringing Rafe Bodine back and collecting the reward as a perfect solution to her problems.

Ethan regards Willy as a loose cannon and since he's concerned for both her safety and Rafes safety if she actually does get within bounty hunting distance of him, he lets her tag along with him in the search. Naturally, because of their combustible natures....it's almost lust at first sight. Their adventures together are hairy and their attraction to each other is red-hot!

I think I liked this book even better then the first in this trilogy ("Defiant" is the third and last book.) It was difficult not to devour this reading all in one setting. It's a great journey the reader takes with Ethan and Willy.

Excellent historical romance!

This is the first historical romance that I have read by Ms. Cameron. I was a bit skeptical since I LOVE her contemporary books. But this took me by surprise. It is a good suspense story with a wonderful unexpected twist that will leave readers with their mouths open. The love story between Lily and Oliver is equally wonderful. Lily being an "old maid" of 25 knows her mind and trusts this man with her"mysteries" as he will with his. I enjoyed it ! I will eagerly look for other books in this genre by her and hope they are as entertaining as this one.

Not bad, but I've read better

While I agree with the previous reviews that this book has some charming aspects (Lily's study of the "Male mysteries"; the unlikely villan), overall I was very disappointed. My particular complaints with this novel are the unfounded, mecurial temperaments of it's main characters. One paragraph they're verbally assaulting one another, and the next whispering endearments with no apparent resolution to the previous confrontation. Also, the book moved so slowly at times, I found myself skipping pages to more interesting parts. However, I applaud Ms. Cameron on her antagonists. A more motley, thoroughly amoral group has never existed.

A superb reading experience

This job provides him the perfect disguise to go undercover in order to learn the truth. However, Lily has her own agenda. What started as harmless questioning is becoming much more intimate. However, also undercover lurks a killer, whose agenda is to leave the past buried even if it means killing Oliver to insure that occurs. ......Stella Cameron writes some of the most memorable historical romances on the ma

The Diary of V series is wonderful! I felt like I could have substituted "V" for "J" and the story was about me. Her feelings and reactions to her husband, her love of men finding her attractive, her "crushes", and her friendships with the women of the story rang so true for me. I just really related to the main character of this book.

If you want to read the hilarious tale of a woman going through an affair, a cheating husband, raising a young son, and getting fat on top of that then this is the book for you. You can relate to V and watch her come out victorious and overcome the hurdles in her life. It will make you feel her pain and cheer for her when she succeeds. Great read!

V just has it!

No, this book will not provide you with the meaning of life, but if you are looking for a light, easy read, this one is definately a page-turner. I couldn't put it down!!! The main character did not always make the best moral decisions, and even became a bit unrealistic at times, but it's part of her intrigue. I can not wait to see what happens to her next!! Give it a try!

Too much fun!

An irresistible romp, reading this is like eating a box of Godiva chocolate truffles in one sitting. You may feel a bit guilty afterwards! Our heroine is a lust-filled married woman with a cold, cold husband. Poor dear, she turns to the muscular and handsome gardener (yes, the gardener) who tends the plants at her office. Shades of Lady Chatterley! There are plenty of "naughty bits" though nothing outright pornographic. The protagonist is a therapist but seems to have her own anger control issues. Almost every discussion with her husband ends with her throwing something.... Not that we blame her: As the story goes on, the husband turns out to be a dirty rotten cheating scoundrel. On top of that, there are office politics, scandals and rivalries. Everything is over the top and not very believable, but fun. Oh, and beware -- the ending is a cliff-hanger, so you feel compelled to get the next book in the series.
