I have been getting this book for years and every year I am amazed at all the new listings.

This guide by The Criminal Justice Distance Learning Consortium is unique but does share common concerns with Don MacLeod's THE INTERNET GUIDE FOR THE LEGAL RESEARCHER.

As a Graphic Artist/Designer I highly recommend this book to all designers out there! This book shows the best German aspects of design since 1860. Mainly the 1920's BAUHAUS school of thought/design that still exsists to this day.
The concept and thought of "functional design" began in Germany with Architecture, Furniture, Graphics, Product, Fashion, and of course, Automobiles! This book shows it all in an easy to read and find format.
To all designers out there, I highly recommend this compact book to be included in your library!

I must say this is exactly the kind of book i've been looking for, since I entered architecture school I have been trying to find literature for a good design process applied to architecture. The book covers the architectural design process from start to finish with many helpfull insights into the various stages of the complex design process involved in building. In my opinion, it is a vaery complete book, not just talking about building aspects, but client relationships, cost concerns, while at the same time realizing the diference of the academic and work reality. A must buy in my opinion.

This book has been replaced by Dictionary of Health Promotion and Education: Terms and Concepts, 2nd Edition, ISBN 0787969192. This new edition from Jossey-Bass will be available July 9, 2004 through this web site.

I'm driving around Phoenix and trying to think of a place to eat. I'm drawing blanks. Where to eat? Does that ever happen to you?

Fortunately, I have Dining in Arizona: 101 Great Places to Eat, by Claire Bush in my glovebox. I pull it out and scan the restaurants by city index in the back of the book. I look up the summaries for a handful that sound interesting. Now all of a sudden, I have a mind full of options and decide to eat at a restaurant I've never tried before.

Claire's book is handy for locals like me, and especially helpful for the throngs of tourists that visit the valley. The summaries are concise but elaborate enough to convey the restaurant's concept and include highlights on the specialties, so my appetite is already whetted before I walk in the door.

Thirty-five or so of the restaurants are outside the Phoenix Metro area, so even if I'm hiking in Flagstaff, I can use the guide to find a spot to eat before heading back to the Valley.

Other handy indicies include restaurants by cuisine, and by category, like cheap eats, splurge, and date night. No longer will I drive around aimlessly, trying to think of a place to eat. I'll just reference Claire's book, and save time and brain space. Thanks, Claire!

It's a shame that this book is currently out of print. Kravetz has provided all of us with a practical guide listing hundreds of ideas to develop job-related competencies. The book is well organized by compentency areas. Twenty to 25 separate action items are listed for each of the competency areas which include such topics as Verbal Communication Skills, Project Management, Creativity, and Financial and Numerical Skills. There are also 6 chapters devoted to competencies for supervisory positions.

This new 15th edition is a comprehensive survey of 2500 schools, facilities and organizations across the US serving children and young adults with developmental, emotional, physical and medical disabilities. With indexex cross-referencing a range of disabilities, this work is an invaluable aid to parents and professionals seeking the optimal environment for special-needs children.

Most of the book, pages 113-1015, consist of listings of the schools. The listings contain the name, a very brief description of the programs, location, contact information, and a paragraph describing the overall mission of the school. This section is broken down by state.

At the beginning of the book is a listing of the program emphasis at all of the schools (about 70 pages). The emphasis is broken down into ten general categories, and an indication is made to indicate a Primary or Secondary emphasis. This allows the quick identification of schools by specialty that can then be investigated more completely in the following section. Finally there is a small section of advertising placed by some of the schools.

This is easily the most complete book of it's type available.
