Many leadership books are on the market with excellent concepts and theories, but the great thing about this book is that it contains real tools, assessments, and ideas any manager can download and actually use immediately to assess their own skills or to use as team activities with their employees. This book is great for those who continually work to develop their leadership skills, but is especially excellent for managers who "don't have time for leadership classes", because they can use the activities on their own with their team during staff meetings, or as "just-in-time" tools as they are needed to help employees deal with change, etc. This is also an excellent resource for those in the HR/leadership development field - the tools can be used on a 1-on-1 basis with a manager, or they could be used within a leadership course.

Every picture tells a story, they say; you'll hear a lot as you flip through the images of this prep tool.
There's scarely any review left for me to do: the pictures did it all.
Fine photos! Fine multimedia flexibility! Wonderful job, I'd say.

Well worth it.

This is clearly one of Prentice Hall's better efforts. The material in this book is so well developed that it can be used as an additional reference during a precalc course for the algebra element.
Examples are color-coded to show steps. There are lots of sample problems included. The only drawback to this book is the large amounts of photos and drawings that aren't necessary--but these are present in this entire series of math books.
The glossary is a big bonus. Not all math texts have a glossary as nice as this one.

Tantalizing Tidbits on Tools

This 32 page booklet is part of a series of pocket book size texts published in England called the Shire books which cover all sorts of obsolete industrial, agricultural, and home economics topics. Thus old time one-lunger steam power engines are covered but modern post 1940 automobiles, tractors and trucks are not.
The illustrations cover many tools with a few examples each, but these booklets are far from a complete encycopedias of anything they cover. They are more memory books of the type done by Eric Sloane (cf) on American hand tools and crafts. The intent of this one is preserving the ancient hand techniques of the farmer.
What strikes one as particularly British is that no one ever seems to wear work clothing as we know it: Overalls, coveralls, dungaree shirts, etc. All the workers are wearing coats and ties even in the filthiest conditions! As I recall this is not characteristic of French peasants of the same period, 1850 to 1950. The only concession to work condition is the English favor gum boots of the pullover type when in the fields. But this is not surprising when we recall that Sherlock Holmes and other holiday trekkers in movies always wore tweed suits and ties in the woods.

Save Your Time, Your Security and Your Sanity

If you spend a lot of time on the internet, you probably have dozens of websites you need a username and password to log into. You may be tempted to use the same username and password for all websites, but this is bad for your security. For example, for your online banking account or any site that stores financial or any important information, you should have a unique username and password that is used nowhere else.
The problem is it is impossible to remember more than a few usernames and passwords. More and more websites require a username and password to use their services, even the free ones. It's maddening! So what do you do? You use software that will save and automatically fill in your username and password.
I've been using Roboform for at least 2 years now and I've tried a few others similar programs. Roboform has been around the longest and it shows. It has withstood browser updates and minimal competition.
While Internet Explorer and some other web browsers have the ability to save form information and usernames/passwords, you have no access to that stored information whatsoever, and you can't even tell what is being stored. That is why you may need password management software. Both software will allow you to save passwords and save form information. That is the minimum you should expect in a password manager.
Time-saving Benefits of Roboform:
* Save multiple profiles (Save different information to be filled in - work profile, home profile, business profile)
* Save multiple credit cards
* Require password prompting before filling in information (optional--can be turned off)
* View and edit saved usernames and passwords.
* Go to login url - you can go to the login URL (which isn't always on the main page).
* Choose to have forms filled in automatically or click a button when prompted to fill in information.
* Custom fields (Create custom-named fields (such as PIN) and enter the information you want filled in. Most password managers/form fillers only fills in fields it
recognizes (name, address, city, state, etc.)
Conclusion: I've tried several password manager programs and Roboform simply can't be beat. It is very easy to use and very versatile. If you use the internet a lot, you need this software and you can get it for free.

I am just starting on wood working and needed some practical advice on what tools to buy first and why. This book delivers on that, showing creative ideas on how to use the tools for alternate purposes. Tools can fulfill more than one function and you can plan your purchases based on what you intend to do. This book clarifies this subject very well, so my 5 stars.
