Although perhaps biased, I believe this book still deals with the essential--if difficult--issues of evaluation. The vocabulary of evaluation changes but the issues evaluation must address do not. These issues often get in the way of new "evaluation systems" and are therefore too often ignored or slighted. Ah well, it keeps the consultants out of the poor house! Let me know what you think?

In our program of working with kids it has been hit or miss. Quick Connect helped us see exactly where kids were so we could appropriately respond to them. It's a one of a kind CD Rom tool, and kids love it too!

A wonderful resource

We began using this to track kids in our youth programs, and have it invaluable. We're able to get a much better handle on where kids are developmentally and spiritually - according to them - and then link our mentors with them so that real change can begin to happen. Haven't seen anything like this before. I highly recommend it!

I purchased a used unit and following the manufacturer's manual I was unable to get 100 % results.

With the book "Radial Arm Saw", by Roger W. Cliffe, I was able to compreend the steps and make the necessary adjustments.

Very pleased with the book.

Most hobby books are generally very specific 'how-to' texts and devoid of organization, background and usually are either too basic or start at a level where some have to 'look up to see the bottom'. This book, like Cliffe's 'Table Saw Techniques' is so very well organized, that it is almost like a novel, with excellent transition between topics. The book starts with a review of the history of the Radial Arm Saw, what models are available today, operation, accessories, and very, very important SAFETY hints. The radial arm saw like many power tools is dangerous if used improperly. Cliffe gives an excellent treatment of safety measures, and techniques to work safely. For example, his treatment of the use of a moulding head, a procedure which many bulletin boards reflect fear or anecdotal horror stories is great...I read his hints and have successfully completed what many consider too 'hairy'. I'm a hobbyist not a cabinet maker. After the thorough treatise on the techniques, the book concludes with many detailed plans for woodworking projects. Well worth the investment and should be on your Christmas 'Wish List'. It was on mine a few years ago and my wife listened.

This is a well written, concise and practical book that can serve as a valuable resource for members of any group, including the family unit. It inspired me and gives me hope that there is a way for people to learn how to come together in groups and solve our problems in a principled, creative process that works for the higher good of all concerned.

Excellent guidance for anyone invloved with large groups

Frank Dukes, Marina Piscolish, and John Stephens have successfully collaborated on a book that takes a frank and honest look at what facilitators do in groups and how to do it better. The book is remarkably readable and has instant applicability not only to those of us in the business of mediation; the city administrator and elected official will also find the book extremely useful. I recommend it to my colleagues in the planning profession as a refreshing and rewarding approach to handling large group processes.

Great Manual for Navigating the Twists, Hills and Detours of the Earthly Plane

"We are all on different paths, but our destination is the same. Deep within each of us is the desire to reconnect with the Divine." - From the book

While enlightenment can't be found in a book, author Amy Elizabeth Garcia has provided clear, practical steps to get your own your way in the 241-page book Real Steps to Enlightenment.

Teaming up with Jahallah, a spirit guide from the causal plane, Garcia outlines 33 steps for moving closer to Divine awareness. Each chapter provides four important components:

* A channeled message from Jahallah, including personal examples from his various incarnations
* Anecdotes from Garcia's life, as well as those from her friends, family, and colleagues
* A prayer inspired by the angels
* Short writing exercise where readers think of three ways to bring a particular quality of Spirit into daily experience

Some of the themes addressed in Real Steps to Enlightenment include:

* Purpose
* Release
* Celebration
* Transition
* Encouragement
* Safety
* Versatility
* Synchronicity
* Synergy
* Destiny
* Nonresistance
* Sanctuary

One of the sections I found particularly insightful was a message from Jahallah on the subject of clarity:

"Creating simplicity is a means for gaining clarity. When you simplify and remove excess clutter, all that is valuable in your life remains. Examine your daily activities and see which activities are useful to you and which are actually burdens. When you excavate the unnecessary possessions and actions, you will find your authentic self. Who you are and what you want out of life become clearer. Once you uncover those things, make a commitment to bring those qualities into your experience."

Real Steps to Enlightenment presents gentle, encouraging wisdom for those wanting to deepen their relationship with Spirit--as well as those seeking to establish a connection with the Divine. Garcia comes across as genuine and empathetic, often sharing obstacles and frustrations from her own life and spiritual path.

This book was a joy to read, and I felt like I was visiting a spiritual oasis every time I picked it up. What a gift to a frenzied world! I especially enjoyed the channeled material from Jahallah, whose manner and insight is reminiscent of Christ. I plan to re-visit this book as needed, and highly recommend it for navigating the twists, hills and detours of the earthly plane.

I would call "Real Steps to Enlightenment" a handbook for the spiritual seeker. The book outlines thirty-three steps in all (including gratitude, patience, encouragement and cooperation), and each step is meant to take the seeker closer toward enlightenment. Each chapter contains a channeled message from Amy's spirit guide outlining that particular step and an example of how she personally experienced the transformation in her own life. The step is then followed up with a beautiful prayer and a brief set of exercises designed to help the seeker integrate the lesson.

This book is a very easy read, and even with my hectic schedule I managed to finish it in just four days. And it could easily serve as a daily source of inspiration, just leave it by your bedside and pick it up first thing in the morning for your daily dose of enlightenment.

We are living in a time of great change and transformation. Many of us are looking for ways to make the transition a little smoother and make our lives flow a little easier. Real Steps to Enlightenment offers simple solutions to today's dilemmas.

great book for understanding gasoline engines!!!

Review Date: 2008-06-02
This book starts out with the simplest 2-stroke engines, explaining different carburetor setups, and goes up through more complicated 4-stroke engines. This book would be a great basis for learning about gasoline engines in general... It also has advice on general maintenance and troubleshooting. Very informative book for learning HOW these things work so that you can fix them.

Good book that goes into a lot of detail

I looked at several small engine repair manuals and I was unimpressed by them. (The Haynes book is particularly disappointing) This one goes into a nice level of explanation of how something (e.g. a carburetor) works, the various types available and then how to trouble shoot it. Knowing how something works is crucial to really trouble shoot an engine.

I am an engineer so I like how this book describes the items function. Obviously some level of technical understanding is necessary to really appreciate an engine manual. But if you don't have that appreciation - you probably aren't trying to fix your own engines. So if you are looking for such a book, I can easily recommend this one.

The knowledge I've gained from this book has also helped with larger pieces of equipment - like full-size tractors. The older tractors (like my John Deere 3010) use the same basic components.

This books comes out with perfect timing. If financial institutions from banks to equity and property funds had followed the down-to-earth methodic recommendations of this book, I doubt we would face many of the current credit problems.

The author presents a thorough, down-to-earth, organised, and fool-proof A to Z guide of the credit lending process. Along the way, drawing from his evident experience, he offers advice to many of the related departments that take part of the credit process such as marketing and operations. Advice that is practical and directed to the greater good of the organization: sustainable profitability.

The book's clear structure makes it a perfect guide for consultants, due dilligence analysis, every day practitioners, and even for ngos that specialize in the micro-finance sector. Definitely a book with a great ROI.

I normally find "how to" books dull. Not this time. I feel like I've been climbing with someone form the old school. It's not often you can gain true experience from reading a book.

This book will give you the basics of what you need to know to begin rock climbing, or to help you move on from top roping to lead climbing. But, unlike the other "how to" books out there on rock climbing, it is written in a breezy, entertaining style that will hold your interest like a good novel. You won't feel like you're reading a "how to" book at all. It even makes you laugh! I recommend it highly.

This book is an excellent reference work and shop manual for the shaper and router. It is well illustrated and gives descriptions of commercially available jigs and attachments as well as practical designs for shop made accessories. I read this book at the home of a fellow woodworker and threatened to steal it from him. I can't wait to get my own copy.
