Strongly recommended reading, Customer Satisfaction: Tools, Techniques, And Formulas For Success by Craig Cochran (Project Manager, Center for International Standards & Quality, Georgia Tech Economic Development Institute) is a slim, 93-page compilation of observations, advice, and techniques for proactively gauging customer perceptions and then aggressively acting on the findings thereby acquiring a competitive advantage in today crowded and rapidly evolving markets. Tools and specific instructions are laid out in a thoroughly "user friendly" manner and range from the very basic to the rather sophisticated. Informed and informative, Customer Satisfaction is one of those easily assimilated compilations that will rapidly translate to an improved bottom line regardless of the nature of a businesses products or services.

Definitely worth getting

There were three things I really liked about this book: 1) Every page had something of value on it. There's no filler. I never found myself turning a page and asking, `what the heck did I just read?' 2) The customer satisfaction concepts were presented in the most simple manner possible. Anybody at any level of a company can understand and use the book. Right now, my V.P. of Operations and one of my 18 year old co-op students are reading it, and they're both getting some good ideas. 3) The book includes a wide range of tools, along with instructions on how to use and how not to use each one.

In summary, this is a good, practical book you can start using before you're even done reading it.

A very practical guide to improving customer satisfaction

If you're looking for a bunch of heavy, theoretical philosophizing on customer satisfaction, then you'll hate this book. If you're looking for practical, common-sense methods for understanding what customers think and doing something about it, then you'll love it. I found this book to be the most clear and concise guide yet for actually doing something to improve customer satisfaction. My company has already begun using two of the methods, with very good results. Highly recommended.

This is a great book. I reccomend it to anyone who is interested in the history of the leather industry, or who is interested in getting into leather crafts. It is very informative and gives you an idea on what kinds of tools are used in leather work and how they are used. It makes a great reference source. It givr you an idea on what kinds of tools you'll need for the differnt kinds of leather trades.

Look at all the nifty tools!

We just received our copy yesterday, and I expect my husband and I will be competing for it until one of manages to get through it from cover to cover. As the title implies, the author covers almost any tool you could think of used for leather working in the last 2.5 centuries, including things like workbences and stools. :) The book is arranged by trade - bookbinding, boot and shoe making, skinningk, tanning, finishing, etc, with the tools alphabetical by general type within each trade. Some of the descriptions are very brief, and the author spends more time in explanations of how more obscure tools are/were used than for common ones - which makes sense. Definitely enjoyable for the confirmed tool junkie.

I highly recommend this book to anyone planning to go into die design. It is extremely thorough and up to date. More importantly, it not only explains how a die works but it also helps in the designing process. It takes you through a step by step process and each chapter is dedicated to a part of the die i.e., the punch, the die, the stripper plate, pilots, types of die processes, die buttons, front and back rails, etc. For those already in the field, it helps to have this book handy.

To give a brief background about myself. I have been one of the primary contributor and committer of the Web Tools Platform (WTP) eclipse tools project since its inception through WTP 1.5 release. I contributed the Validation Framework component for this project. I read a large portion of this book and can say that this most comprehensive book that explains the complete WTP in a step by step fashion that can be help you easily understand the whole WTP project, its sub projects, its components and features through several real world examples. I strongly recommend this book to all users and contributors of WTP.

Eclipse Web Tools Platform: Developing Java(TM) Web Applications

This is an excellent book; I specially liked the iterative approach (for example, for presentation tier, iteration 1: HTML, iteration 2: add CSS, iteration 3: add Javascripts, iteration 4: XML and XSLT, iteration 5: DTD)authors have taken. I have used examples from this book, with Eclipse and NetBeans, of course for Eclipse user this book has added value, since it goes through configuration of Eclipse and recommended practices. Please ignore the gripe about errors in the code; there are two minor errors which are detailed in the errata on book's companion site, it doesn't take more than a minute to fix those two issues.

Authors discuss All three tiers in great detail. How about this, by page 85 you would be deploying a simple web service (and you would be amazed how simple it is).

Great book for getting up and running with WTP

Though I have had some experience in Java, Eclipse, and WTP, a recent project required me to get more into depth. This book got me through the whole development process. It explained to me clean coding techniques when writing web apps in Java, how to get my web server up and running for use with WTP, to get my apps to talk to the server, debugging using different tools, and unit testing in a web environment.

This book was an invaluable addition to my collection, and is also a great reference now that I have mastered these concepts.

Though I've been working with Windows for almost 10 years, I still learned new tricks with this book. Of course I skipped over some basic parts, but I can see how others might find the background information useful. As an added bonus, the book has a nice glossary and index to facilitate searching for specific topics.

This is a must for anyone that is starting out in cake decorating and needs any inspiration or ideas. Once someone has the basic knowledge of decorating, anything in the book can be accomplished or adapted to something applicable. The full color photos and explanations are great, although it takes a bit of getting use to in the English/British "vernaculur" that it is written. It once again proves that the English have taken cake decorating to an art form and us Yanks really need to step up to the plate.

Exquisite and brimming with originality!

I got this book today on a whim, and flipping through it made me want to run out and whip up a cake just to see if I could create a fraction of the magic these cakes possess. I loved going through the vibrant color photographs and admiring the interesting designs (although I have to admit some of these seem much too complicated to be attempted by someone who isn't a professional pastry chef). However, that doesn't detract from the fact that the book is beautiful and informative, and even if I never get one cake to look the same as it does in the book, I won't regret a thing. This guide is a feast for the eyes as well as the imagination! (The sugar flowers alone took my breath away!)

This is by far the best book I have in my collection!

Review Date: 2001-10-29
This book helped me, and I am sure other readers, in understanding their own approach to life and time from the perspective of our life with God. By presenting a variety of tools that work for different people for a variety of situations the reader is guided in practical ways to make the choices of how you want to use your time and effort. I found the chapter on the importance and different ways of getting closure very helpful.

This book brings wisdom from many years of helping people learn to use time more productively. Its discussion of the spiritual side of life puts the consideration in the context of one's whole life and what is most important and lasting. I highly recommend this book for your reading and application in your life.

Having taken a turning class with Mike when he was in the US last year, I can not only recommend this book, but also his teaching.

If you want to understand all aspects of woodturning, Darlow shoehorns an amazing amount of material in the pages of this book.FOW is nicely laid out, in full color and takes nothing for granted in teaching you the way to turn.

While there are a number of one-shot titles out on turning - turning bowls, turning pens etc., this book is the one to get as the required "Bible". Comprehensive, it covers all the major areas and is very practical. Mike was a professional turner for 7 years, so he teaches you how to consistently turn out high quality, good looking work.Forget the quickie, single subject titles until after you've read FOW. Highly recommended
