This book recounts, in meticulous and fascinating detail, the inside, untold story of the famous architect, and the not-yet-famous educators who dreamed of a home of their own that would grow with and around their young family. A wonderful read, full of personalities and the unexpected challenges of this daring young couple's audacious undertaking of building an "outside the box" home in the 1930s. Hanna Honeycomb house underwent careful reinforcement after it was severely damaged in the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake, and is once again available for docent tours. Contact Stanford University, where the home, long ago called "a monstrosity" by other faculty, remains a viable part of the education institution that sustained and grew the young homeowners and their infamous architect. The ashes of the writers, Jean and Paul Hanna, remain lovingly buried on the property, near the home they dreamed, built, adored, and shared with the world.

This publication was released in 1995 and the software was designed to work on Windows 3.1 and Windows 95. It seems to function on windows 2000 and below.

It does not run on Windows XP and Luna Imaging no longer provides support for this product.

Very good book. Many styles and techniques of rendering and architectural drawing.

I bought this book for my 14 yr old son who LOVES architecture. He is taking an architecture class in eight grade and loves it. The book is probably meant to be for college students/adults, but it is clearly written so that a younger person with similar interests can understand it.

I am a working freelance illustrator and visual arts teacher. I have a slowly growing collection of books that demonstrate clearly some ways to capture and understand images with various media. This is my newest entry, joining such books as Atlas of Human Anatomy for the Artist by Peck, and Rendering Textures in Pen and Ink by Nice. It is a very nicely illustrated book, and shows how successfully a loose drawing can communicate an idea or mood. I recommend it to anyone learning how to see and render.

The truth is that I never heard of these magazines until I read this book. And I am huge fan of Fresh Dialogues, although these new book sizes are slightly off putting and not really ideal. The cover design is really ugly. But the work inside is great as are the speakers and magazine moguls. I think it is a real look at what designers/publishers/editors are willing to do to create great content that is about the world we live in today.

Thomas Bivins identifies USA Today as a model, with its colorful banner, easy-to-follow page design, full-color photographs, inviting table of contents, and short articles. As FUNDAMENTALS OF SUCCESSFUL NEWSLETTERS guidelines, the author also points to simple graphic design, with boxes, sparingly appropriate illustrations or photographs, rules, tint blocks, and no more than two typefaces, used not only for getting out an entertaining or informative or persuasive message but also decoratively as initial caps, pull quotes, and reverses. He then throws in limiting printing to two colors, with black, dark blue or dark brown giving a quality look; blue, brown, or green screening nicely as a second color; and with colored paper lending a second- or third-color look. Finally, he sees the end goal as a compatible, consistent, unified artwork all in black and white or all in color, with all formal or all informal text layout and with optically weighted sequencing from left to right and from top to bottom on each page of big to smaller, bright to muted, colorful to black and white, dark to lighter, and unusual oddly shaped to usual. It works particularly well to pool the book's information with Barbara Fanson's PRODUCING A FIRST-CLASS NEWSLETTER and Rita and Roberta Street's CREATIVE NEWSLETTERS AND ANNUAL REPORTS.

This book contains great works of furniture design and I think that it is priced reasonably too. I find it to be very inspirational and just great to own!
