It is to the editors credit that they overcame the problems associated with incorporating their work in this book. The book has a chapter on the deposition of coatings, primarily reactive deposition of hard coatings, using arc sources. I think that one thing that is missing from the treatment is the effect of the arc on plasma chemistry. Arcs are very efficient in "activating" reactive gases and decomposing chemical vapor precursors which is important in reactive deposition processes. The cathodic arc also has the advantage in coating deposition that it moves over the whole target surface and thus prevents "poisoning" of some areas on the target surface which can be a problem in magnetron reactive sputter deposition.

Excellent book, well written, and wonderful graphics. I'm an nursing student who is also interested in clinical lab science and this has been my definitive source of answers. Seeks a balance between explaining in an easy to read format but includes enough of the details and finer points without becoming bogged down into mind-numbing minutiae. On a different note, the authors were very helpful and friendly when I emailed them on a question.

The authors in this book give almost every details on developing high power semiconductor lasers. If you are dveloping the high power laser for either industrial products or research, this book is a good reference.

I am surprised that such various details are coverd in this book. Compared with some other books where the design and physics for high power laser are addressed, this book appears to provide more details for readers. The authors are writing their own experience, which I believe it very valuable. The important parameters which the industry people care about, are explained and described, such as facet coating, heat dissipation and device package, which I thought the authors may write more about.

Since the materials in this book provide far beyond physics and device design, it is sure to be welcomed from both the industry and the universities where the intense research is under the way.

The authors give almost every details on developing high power lasers. Compared with several other books where the high power lasers are discussed, this book provides far more than the basic physics and device design. I am surprised that the authors cover such a wide range of issues related. In particular, some very important issues which the industry care about very much, such as facet coating, heat dissipation, cooling and package, are explained and described. Since the authors are writing on the basis of their own experience, this book is sure to be a good reference book for either industry people or the people from universities.

This book was a quick read and gave me an edge in the interview. I know this because now I am working after being laid off and out of work for 2½ weeks. I am a mechanical engineer and specialize in an area that has a lot of competition. This book gets you in the right frame of mind and answering questions properly while in front of a decision maker.

This is definitely the best introductory book there is on the subject. This was a supplemental book for an undergraduate class of mine, but I read it anyway. The authors lucid writing allows this book to be thoroughly understood by all readers despite their backround in economics. I truly believe that this book should be required reading for all history, political science, finance, sociology, and economics majors.

Unlike most books on the history of anything, this book starts from the beginning. The authors start off discussing explorers and empires and then go into colonization. Extremely informative on the economics of different regions in colonial America and the Industrial Revolution.

Rockoff gives a brilliant account of the history of the American Economy and is possibly the best American economic historian in US history.

As a restaurant manager who's new to the industry, I found this book very helpful in sorting out all the important elements of hiring and training employees. Easy to read and to follow, and it seems to be very up-to-date with new laws and modern advice for motivating and leading employees. I recommend this book to anyone who has an interest in managing employees is a restaurant setting.

Loved the book. As a professional in human capital management I found it to be well laid out, full of information that could be applied to every day situations. Not the academic theory that sometimes isn't realistic.

I picked up this book expecting the same old same old regurgitated information and found myself pleasantly surprised. Gorter's information was insightful, fresh, useful and in a format easy to read and understand. I would recommend this book to anyone in need of helpful information.

This is a very no-nonsense approach to building web pages. It's an excellent guide if you know what you want to put on your page but are mystified about the HTML codes to use to produce the effects you're looking for. This book even includes a guide on how to incorporate multi-media on your webpage. This is the best book I have read thus far on the subject.

After reviewing countless of books on web designing, I have finally found one of the most informative and easy to read books on HTML. Within the first couple of days, I quickly and easily created a very attractive website. If the reader follows the steps as outlined in the book I can assure you he will walk away with with a working knowledge of HTML. This is a must read for anyone interested in learning how to design web sites. The author definitely makes learning fun.

Great little book for knowing how to utilize the Lotus Notes software.

Excellent tool to learn all about the ins and outs of Lotus Notes. The beginning of each chapter provides a summary to further explain the function's use.
Regarding delivery, it arrived earlier than expected. :)

Sam's How to Use FrontPage 2002 is an easy-to-use guidebook to the latest version of FrontPage. I upgraded from FrontPage 98 and found the 2002 version much easier to use. Many of the oddball features of the 98 version have been eliminated. 2002 is a much simpler program to use.

This book uses many illustrations in color to show you what to do. These are well laid out and the text is simply and effectively written. I found the index quite adequate although I supplemented it myself with several items that I thought I might require again in the future.

The only time I didn't follow the recommendations given by the authors was in dealing with images. I find it often easier to copy the images from scanners and other sites and to move them, also, by copying and pasting rather than by some of the methods suggested.

Highly recommended.

A concise yet sufficiently detailed guide to using FrontPage 2002, this book is a gem. It's well organized and chock full of helpful hints and how-to's. Perfect for beginners, it's also a visual tour de force. I was able to create and publish a surprisinly decent website for my office in less than a week. Overall, a very impressive work!
