References and Standards Books

This dictionary is exceptional. Communication is simple, even without knowledge of Ukrainian. We recently hired a Ukainian nanny who has been in the States less than 6 mos. With this dictionary, we are able to communicate clearly. My only question surrounds the absence of some baby-related words, like diaper, rattle, penis (for care following circumcision), etc. Otherwise, the dictionary works great!

This is a very nice Bible, with all the beni's of the HCSB, but the print is by no means giant, though perhaps it is as big as it could be given the size of the book.

In addition to the beautiful lay-out, there are a number of theological issues that are discussed in a separate section at the back of the book, such as 'Messianic Prophecies Fulfilled In The Gospels', 'The Resurrection Appearances of Jesus' etc. Full color maps are included as well. This resource is not skimpish, with elaborated materials.

I was looking for a good translation with large print for our grandparents. I accidently bought a HCSB translation because it was on sale and I found it to be very readable. They had a good selection of large/giant/ and SuperGiant print. I believe the font on the SuperGiant is about 18! Some bibles claim large print and are actually 9 pt., some Giant prints are 12. It is worth finding out the actual font at a local store to see the actual size and also how the print is. Then you can buy online with confidence (write down the isbn numbers to make sure it is the exact same bible as what you saw in the local store). If there is good contrast on the paper, the letters are not crammed together, and the print is dark (especially "red letters" as when these are light, it is very hard to see if your eyes are not so good). A note of interest for notetakers. Usually when you have "giant" or bigger print,the pages are somewhat thinner so you usually can see through the pages more and my guess you will need like a .005 fine marker to have a chance of not showing through.
Over all good translation, very readable, good price.

A very well presented book especially for those organisations who are either on the journey to ISO 14000 implementation or are planning.

It provides as excellent toolkit for those individuals who are to be invlved in the envoirnment management systems.

We have used it in our organisation for the team and found it extremely helpful. We have used it for training and evaluation of employees and in the assesment of their strenghts and weaknesses.

On these basis it has enabled us to identify training need analysis.

We would there fore reccomend it as a compulsory addition in every company library.

This book gives managers a concise guide about the changes to management's role to meet the ISO 9001:2000 requirements. This book focuses on management responsibility, management commitment, quality planning and objectives, management review, customer, and continuous improvement.
After the publication of ISO 9000:2000 In a Nutshell Authors Jeanne Ketola and Katty Roberts offer again a very concise and easy to use guide this time on Management Responsibility.
This is guide on section 5 of the ISO 9000:2000 standard and explains the intent of each standard subsections and offer tips for implementation.

I purchased this book, about 10 years ago, for my high school German class. It was, of course, very useful when I was studying German.

The preface (vorwort) is in both English & German. The first part of the book is German to English. There is a user guide, at the beginning, that explains all the little symbols, abbreviations, pronunciation, & the arrangement of the entries (this is in English). The second part is English to German. There is another, shorter, user guide at the beginning of it.

After the actual dictionary part of the book, there is a list of proper names. These are in English to German. It is a nice list to have, if you're at all interested in German names but it's very short. I have often had to search elsewhere for a more complete list.

Next, we have the list of geographical names, which is in German to English. This list is somewhat longer, since it includes the names of countries, major landmarks, & bodies of water.

Then, there is a list of abbreviations in English to German. This includes things like AP-Associated Press, C-Celsius, Blvd-Boulevard, etc.

This is followed by a section on numerals & includes cardinal numbers, ordinal numbers (1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc.), & fractions. This lists the number followed by the English then the German words. There is a weights & measures guide and temperature conversion formulas.

Overall, this book has been extremely useful. I have used it many times since I have been out of school. For 10 years of use, the book has held up well. The dustjacket is still intact, no rips or tears, although there is some wear showing on the edges & it's a bit wrinkled. It doesn't fit as tightly as it originally did. The bottom edge of the book shows a little shelf wear & the pages are a little dingy on the bottom. Otherwise, there are no visible signs of wear to the book, itself. This is after being lugged around in my backpack, sitting at the bottom of my locker, moving to & from college (twice), & moving to different homes (twice).

This is an interesting book in that it challenges all your previous ideas. I cannot say I fully agree with Reeves, but it has made me more aware of assessments and how I use them.

An older book but filled with invaluable information. Tried and true methods explained in language anyone can understand.
