Although many of us view our pets as "children" we tend to blame behavior issues on them rather than addressing the root problem. This book provides wonderful insight into how to help our pets with sensory regulation. I've used some of the methods on my dog to help calm her when she can't seem to self-soothe, and the results have been astonishing.

This is a great basic introductory book. If you're looking for ideas and don't want to re-invent the wheel, and make the same mistakes that others have made when THEY made their observatory, buy this book. I highly recommend it; easy reading, with good author support! 5 of 5 stars.

This is an excellent source for the collector of antique sewing implements. Full color illustrations of all priced objects make it easy to identify and place a value on pincushions, needlecases, thimbles and more. Not much text but price guides are generally short on text. If a price guide is what you want, I recommend this one.

Helen Lester Thompson's Sewing Tools & Trinkets is a collector's identification and value guide, covering everything from thimbles and needle holders to toys and trinkets. A very specific reference for the collector of sewing items.

If you need to cut, sand, route, shape, or clamp, this is a great reference book. I have read many shop tip books, and there are ideas here I've never seen anywhere else. And the illustrations are superb.

Great reference...

I've already made several jigs and used this book as the reference. There is enough detail to guide a user to completion, and more than enough jigs to cover all the situations you might encounter where a jig is required.

Great book... strongly recommend it !

Good book about how God wants to pour out His Holy Spirit in these last days.

God wants to release the love of Christ, to produce a unity that will bring the Bride of Christ back together again as one.

There is a study Guide and chronological calendar of events also include in the back of book.

This book is an outstanding contribution to the Six Sigma effort, which allows the small shops to discover how all the elements of past and present improvement
processes fit together. Beginning with the history of the Industrial Revolution through the use of the six sigma practical tools, it explains the needs and how the tools dovetail nicely together.

Within this book's covers lay the applied use of six-sigma process improvement techniques, which reduce costs and give the practitioner, better understanding of processes and flow. By following the step-by-step process of define, measure, analyze, improve and control, hands-on problem solving is easily taught to everyone within an organization. The four appendixes plus the glossary completes a great reference book for any small and medium shop.

Being a past plant manager in small shops I see the high value of this book. The interactive CD makes the user a quick master in six sigma techniques. My plans are to use this as a text for my Six Sigma course at Sinclair Community College.

Thank you for this review opportunity.

Six Sigma for the Small Shop is a winner

Gary Conner has the knack of making both complicated concepts and potentially dull reading so simple that this book is required reading for anyone seriously contemplating or implementing any of the continuous improvement tools available to us. His exposition of DMAIC (design, measure, analyze, improve and control) into specific tools with copious charts is worth the price of the book alone. Not only is there an index but a glossary and a list of suggested reading.
Of particular value is the presentation of tables about each of the many initiatives that show that it's relationship to Six Sigma, as well as who needs or uses it, cost estimates, strengths, limitations, process complexity, implementation time, additional resources and internet search key words and URLs.
Aside:
I have two quibbles:
1. The title may scare away larger shop folk who can gain as much value from this book as the small shop people
2. I would have liked to see more linkage to the engineering design function. Manufacturing and industrial engineering are important, but most of product cost and defect generation happens up front in the design.
Having voiced my quibbles, this book sits on my desk along with Gary's "lean manufacturing for the small shop" and I can now recommend a second book by this down to earth lean author.

This book covers the subject of "field herping" as a whole. They offer wonderful insight into productive measures taken. This book is very honest, and to the point. It is well written in the sense that it's very understandable and not over technical making it a great book for the beginner, with enough substance that a seasoned veteran will be entertained. My only complaint on this book is that I wanted it to be longer so that the fun of it wouldn't stop.

The tools of the trade section I think is especially good for those that lack a support system to learn from. This book is highly recommended to all interested in the natural history of snakes.

A book for every REAL Snake Guy
Helpful Votes: 3 out of 3 total.
Review Date: 2008-01-19
Most of the snake literature out there is watered down for a general audience. This book was written by two common, regular everyday "Snake" guys. Not since the days of Kauffeld, have books been truly written for snake guys like this.

They share their experiences and techniques over the years that have yeilded them thousands of snakes in the field.

Their observations and honest opinions are what make this book gold.

I also got the autographed version, and just knowing that the two men who put a lot of blood, sweat, tears, and money into this book, personally signed my copy, makes this book even more special.

This has very unusual patterns - some are appropriate for beginner and others for the more experienced. The patterns could possibly be used for sewing appliques, beadwork, or other mediums other than wood or metal.

Excellent Spielman Presentation
Helpful Votes: 15 out of 15 total.
Review Date: 2001-12-04
This is an excellent workbook / pattern book for both the beginner and intermediate scroll sawyer, another Spielman success with the contribution of Dan Kihl. There are about 150 full size patterns in the 154 pages, and with the suggested variations on each project, the possibilites are endless.

As usual, the first 22 pages deals with instuctional guidance with photos. Some good instructions on wood selection, transferring patterns, definition cuts, and stack sawing. Then, for the more experienced, Spielman gives advice on combining various metals, plastics and leather with the traditional wood projects. It takes an ordinary project to an extra ordinary project with the "simple" inclusion of different medias.

Also for the more advanced, tips on segmentation and inlaying are provided, again, with photos. Perhaps the most interesting chapter, is on finishing tips, including acetic-acid bath of copper combined with shiny copper inlays. The eight pages of color photos offer great assistance with how different finishing techinques can look.

The are some very unusual patterns in this book and with the combination of the various techniques discussed and presented with photos, makes this book a must to have and you will refer back to it time and time again, just like I do, for some different ideas to apply to other projects.
