The book is divided into six parts.The first two parts gives a complete treatise on development of CSA and approaches to CSA. The next two parts deal with practical applications of CSA in private sector organisations and public sector organisations. The fifth part deals with the future of CSA. The authors discuss very valid questions on why CSA is not more widely adopted than it should. The authors have analysed how CSAcan be a useful tool to be usedas part of risk management and corporate governance. The sixth and final part contains various appendices useful to the reader like extracts from the CoCo Report and UK guidance on internal financial control. This book is addressed to both practioneers and students of CSA.

Cornerstones of Decision Making provides an excellent perspective and grasp of the conceptual, technical, and practical aspects of enterprise activity-based management (ABM) and activity-based costing (ABC). It emphasizes the ultimate aim of enterprise-wide ABM systems-helping and improving the collective decision making throughout an organization. The generalizations regarding ABM are made practical by using 14 specific case studies of implementations of ABM systems. These studies extend far beyond manufacturing; they include service, not-for-profit, and government organizations. Examples are Blue Cross, Blue Shield, DHL, GTE Supply, and CinCFleet. Many cases span not only several continents but also industry segments and market size. Some organizations are trying to skip pilot projects and move directly to full enterprise-wide rollouts of ABM. Case examples includes American Seating and John Deere Health Care, Inc. The cases include the reports and reaction of the ABM Team members and key organization executives who have valuable implementation experiences to share. A highlight of the book is the Lessons Learned section that ends each case. Each lesson provides a brief generalization that ties directly to the individual case. I read a couple of books on this topic but could not find a comprehensive overview of the field until I read Corporate Environmental Accounting. Now I use it for executive seminars. Tom Thomas

Very good introductory book. Lots of examples, with funny names for the companies. It gives an international perspective, but mostly focused on the EU. I attended Tim Sutton's lectures at the IESE business school, and the book helped me understand accounting from a nule previous knowledge on the field.

This book is ideal for managers of internationally oriented businesses who want to get a grip of the financial accounting statements produced by accountants and auditors.

The positive message that the authors send out is that accounting is not that difficult. This book is clear in its structure and language. The reader is gently taken by the hand and shown how to dissect any financial report, whatever its underlying accounting methods.

Readers have to be aware that because of its international perspective, the prime focus is on analysis and not on writing a financial statement.

I truly enjoy this book and would recommend it to anyone in the profession or interested in becoming a part of it. While the book is very informative,including many facts and figures, it reads like one is having a session of "shop talk" with the author and telling war stories. I rarely have a hard time putting nonfiction down, but this book is truly a gem.
